Fleming Auto Service
We needed an oil change as we were leaving on a 1200 mile trip the next day and also needed to fill the tank. Stopped by Fleming's Auto Service & Repair to do it all. I asked if they could do this while we had lunch and the response was absolutely. We walked across the street to a Bar & Grill and had great burgers and margaritas! They had a full menu with a lot of items, but we just wanted burgers. Lunch took about an hour and we walked back across the street to check on the car. To our surprise, it was all done and more. While they were changing the oil, they found some loose stuff on the front bumper & grill and fixed that too. They topped off all of the fluids, changed the oil & filter, fixed the loose stuff, cleaned the windows, and ran it thru the car wash all for about the price of an oil change at Walmart with competitively priced gas.I would highly recommend Fleming's Auto Service & Repair to anyone needing an oil change or other service & repair.

Certified Auto Repair
I was referred by a friend. I scheduled an appointment and dropped my car off at 6 am. They have an early morning drop off box for the car keys. They inspected my car and called me with a repair estimate. They were very helpful in answering other questions that I had about my car. I told them I had to work late so I wouldn't be able to pick up the car until about 6:30 pm They're regularly open til 5:30 pm. The mechanic said that he frequently stays there later until 7pm to accommodate customers who work late, like me. I was so impressed. Another plus was the amount of my bill was even lower than his estimate. This is a great repair shop. They did a great job fixing my car. I truly feel like they cared for me and my car.

St. Paul Automotive
Scott went far above and beyond what he needed to do to not only fix my car but also to sort out problems I was having with a different service shop / shady mechanic who was trying to rip me off. He dealt with them on my behalf so I no longer had to do it, taking a huge load of stress & frustration off my shoulders. St. Paul Automotive fixed a problem in 24 hours that the other shop hadn't been able to handle during multiple visits over ten days. Calm, professional, fast, and kind. Very highly recommended.

St. Paul Automotive
I am a grad student who just moved to the Twin Cities. I don't know much about cars and grad school keeps me on a tight budget. Scott and the rest of the workers had my car for the day, drove it, and did the computer diagnostics to try to get to the bottom of a check engine light, which TURNED out to be a simple fix. They were honest, helpful, and I paid almost nothing for all of their help, which was an added bonus. Great business!

Mike Auto Repair
I was referred to Mikes Auto from a friend to work on my daughters car as she said they were reliable and fair. I tried them on one issue and they made me aware of several issues to be aware of as she is heading off to college this fall. I got a second opinion and they were right on and their estimates were far lower in comparison to others. We did have several things done and have been very satisfied with their work! Deb H

I took my Saturn to Mike Auto Repair and found the owner to be very trust worthy. He suggested I purchase my auto parts on line and he would charge me for labor. His labor fees was far less than what the dealership was charging. He even offered me a free loaner car while my was being fixed! I highly recommend this shop

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
