Sentinel Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning
Bill (owner) and Daryl (co-worker) came out today ahead of schedule, couldn't get the clog resolved with first snake/auger machine brought out, so came back with a larger machine that was out on another job in the same morning! They were slightly higher in price, but well worth it! Bill was very honest, straight forward and took the time to explain the step-wise approach of troubleshooting the clog and potential causes since it wasn't tree roots, but a soft clog due to likely a build-up of cooking grease/fat/oil. Always, Always, Always, collect the grease/fat/oil off the food, BUT NEVER POUR DOWN the drain. Bill took the time to point out the fats that the auger broke up as he was pulling it back out of the stack clean-out. He mentioned there may be a slight downward bend in the pipe so instead of a straight angle down to sewer main, there's a slight dip such that there's likely puddle and all material flowing through may build up/collect and now the 4" pipe is constricted. Like ----~---- instead of --------. He says next steps may be to camera/locate and either straighten line if abs/pvc by correcting sag or replacing failed section. We contacted the Bore's company who came out the last time, but all they sounded interested in doing is exactly what they did when the came out less than 6 months ago. Call me crazy, but doing the same thing and expecting different results wasn't my idea of fun. Bottom-line: professional, courteous, polite, thorough. I'll likely need them again and they'll be my first call!

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
My experience with Roto-Rooter was amazing! I scheduled my appointment using their online form during my lunch break at work. It was really easy. I was able to pick a same day appointment and select a timeframe that was convenient for me; unlike other service companies that tell you a 4-6 hour timeframe which seemingly always end up being at the least convenient time… I got an email confirmation with my appointment details and even a 30 minute courtesy call from their customer service informing me my technician was on his way. My technician, Walter, was extremely polite and friendly upon arriving at my house (Seven Hills, Ohio). He quickly assessed the issue, explained the solution and drew up an estimate. I was shocked at how competitive the price was (I had gotten quotes from some other local plumbers) and that he could do the work right on the spot. They even honored a coupon I printed from their website! Within less than an hour, Walter had the issue resolved! They offered various forms of payments which is nice to have and even guaranteed their work for 6 months. I was even more impressed to find out that Walter had already worked a full shift and that he took my job last minute to help backfill with some delays. Dedication! Overall, my experience with Roto-Rooter was extremely pleasant. Convenient, great customer service, competitive prices, efficient solutions and a high level of professionalism all around. I would highly recommend using them for all your plumbing needs.

Sentinel Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning
I called Bill to ask some basic questions about an issue we were having and he was absolutely amazing! He answered all my questions gave me a general price of what it would cost without any complications which was 70 to 100 less than what I had been told by some other places. He explained how to find our yard vent something that a person who had been out earlier wouldn't even help my husband look for! After dealing with a few things had to call Bill back to have him send someone out to fix the problem. It was after house and he was more then willing to send someone out Doug who was awesome! Came here and was here for an hour working to get things fixed. Not only did he fix the problem but he gave us suggestions on a couple other things we were having issues with and even went outside and helped my husband actually find the yard vent which was buried down about 4 inches in our front yard! I will MOST DIFFIDENTLY be calling them back if we ever need further jobs done. Reasonable, Fast, Polite and very Professional! If I could give more than 5 stars I really would!

Had a back up problem in December right before the holidays. Eric was very helpful and even gave me credit for a coupon I did not have. Did not purchase the enzyme flush he recommended because of Christmas. Surprised to discover i had a nother problem yesterday after my 30 day warranty had expired by about 15 days!! Jon worked that out wit the office and I was delighted "no charge". Becasue they were unsure of the solution to my problem he ordered a tech to come and take pictures of the sewer. NO CHARGE! In the past I have paid for this service. So along comes Tim Huff. Mr. wikipedia!! Not only did he find the problem and resolve. He gave me a forecast as to what may future problems will be and also maintenance solutions in the meantime. Advise on my walk way too! I learned SO MUCH from Tim! Gues what/ No charge! You know I bought the enzme treatment from them and this is the FIRST review I have ever written!! ROTO ROOTER STL NORTH are MY PEOPLE!! Elveeeta Macon

Sentinel Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning
•Late Sunday afternoon I discovered a large pool of water on my bathroom floor. With the yellow pages I called all the well known large plumbing companies. All claimed to have 24/7 service. After 2 hours of phone tag, not one could make it to my St.Louis home until the next morning. I called Sentinel Plumbing and in about an hour Bill ( the owner) & tech were at my front door. By this time it was 8 PM. He figured out what the problem was and fixed it. I am an elderly woman and live alone. Bill explained what had to be done and gave the price before the work started. He was very professional and respectful. It is always a comfort to be treated in this manner during a time of crisis. I would recommend Sentinel to anyone and will call them first next time I need a plumber at my house.

I want to say I was very, very satisfied the service I recv'd from Bill and his company. I was very upset about a bathroom faucet leak that I had just paid for less than two weeks ago with another plumber T. Booker. Please watch out for him. My bathtub faucet started leaking again after two days. Not just a drip, but a full force running of constant hot water. I guess $80.00 only gets you a two day repair. Bill came right out figured out what was still wrong and had discovered the other plumber had done anything. He hadn't even installed the simple washer.. Bill was very friendly, explained everything to my kids while I was at work, fixed the problem for real, and even gave me a break on my bill. I will be definitely recommending him to everyone I know. Thank you BillL. T.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
My main sewer line and shower in the basement backed up. There was water & sewer mess all over. I called one place and they said they could come at 7:00 p.m. but there would be an extra charge for after hours. I called Roto-Rooter and they said someone would be there within 2-3 hours and they would call before they came. It wasn't long before Carl called and said he would be at the house within 30 minutes. Carl came and explained that he would have to clean out the pipe in the front yard going to the house and out to the street. He cleaned everything out and said there were roots in the way. Carl was a very nice and pleasant man. I would call Roto-Rooter again.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
We made a reservation online for service on Saturday morning (Town & Country, MO) - after our sewer line in the basement backed up late Friday. I was a little frustrated that the estimated service time was 10am to 1pm; but the dispatcher was very patient and kind with me. Justin (tech #3455) arrived at the estimated time and was very professional. He quickly assessed the situation and got to work quickly. I had to leave my home unexpectedly and when I came back he had resolved the problem, walked me through what he had done and quickly processed payment so I could go on about our Saturday. We will definitely use Roto-Router again!

Sentinel Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning
i have always been sceptical of using internet organizations. I gutted out the entire bathroom and refinished everything; so I thought. I hired a company to do all of this but when they were paid they did not show back up to finish the job. I needed a working shower and tiolet with an 8 year old. I called Sentinel Plumbing because they were the first one I saw on the site. Mr. Billy and his assistant came right over on a Friday afternoon and had my tiolet, shower, and bathroom sink in within two hours. I will be calling this company back to do all of my plumbing work. They are mannorly, efficient, and reasonable with pricing.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
Had a sewer back up New Years eve. Roto Rooter was able to come out rather quickly. I had Jason as a tech. He was able to remove my soft clog. 2days later it backed up again. Called Roto Rooter back out because they have a 60 day guarantee. Again they came quickly but this time my tech was Tim. Tim seemed a little more knowledgeable and ran a camera down my pipe to look for additional problems. They are very timely and stuck to their 60 day guarantee. My only issue is the up charges like the 159.00 charge to add an extra 50 feet to the snake to reach my clog. Seems outrageously high. Other then that decent experience.
Tips & Advices
The following tools and common household objects can be used to clean drains at home:
  • A plunger
  • A drain snake
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Grease-fighting dish soap
Homeowners can mix boiling water with any of the last three products to break up grease and grime.
The main ingredients in clog removal liquid products are sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, both break down into relatively harmless components when it comes into contact with water or soil. However, both substances cause mild irritation to skin and internal tissues.
Also known as a drain auger, a drain snake is a coiled device around ¼-inch thick. To use a drain snake, put the end into the entrance of the drain. Turn the handle to force the snake deeper, using extra pressure to force it through the bend in the pipe. Keep turning until the snake hits the clog, then either pull the snake and remove the obstruction or force it through. Once the snake is out of the drain, run the water on full blast for a few minutes to ensure the obstruction is completely removed.
Plungers don't damage residential pipes, but the force created by the act of plunging weakens the seal between the toilet and the floor.
Many plumbers, both local businesses and nationwide chains, offer emergency or same-day services.
