I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to do so after our first visit from Alterra. John H. was very professional and explained everything to us in great detail. He performed all of the work that the sales guy (who was also very polite and professional) said he would perform on the initial visit. After he was finished he talked with me and I mentioned to him that we were seeing spiders in the basement and mice droppings inside the bottom (tank holder) of my grill. Without hesitation he grabbed his stuff and said that he would spray inside the house for me and set a box that was safe for my pets behind my grill to kill the mice. From John H. actions, it made me feel confident that I had hired a company that took pride in their service. So much so that I have already referred Alterra to two of my friends and they too are impressed with their service so far. We have only had the initial visit to date, but I'm confident we will continue to get the same outstanding service. Oh and no more mouse dropping in my grill anymore, which makes me very happy.

Our experience of the entire staff and service personnel have exceeded our expectations. Zach C lives locally to us and goes above and beyond the normal realm of customer service. We had a new issue with ants and I couldn't find out where they were coming in, and he made sure to treat specific areas I didn't even think of, inside and out, and explained what he did and why, to prevent them from coming back. He also made sure we were satisfied and said that if we needed anything at all before the next scheduled date, to contact him to come back out. Satisfied is an understatement! After one visit, I was sold, and have given them my quarterly business to keep the bugs out of my house. We purchased our first house and our sales person Cody came by and answered all the questions and was very personable (such much better than the other door to door sales individuals we've been getting). He set us up with all of the services that we requested and Drew has been our service pro for each and every service that we've had so far and he's been great. He answers any and all questions that we have and is very knowledgeable about the products that the company uses. Drew explained what we would see in the coming days; which was confirmed by all of the dead insects. Not only that he reassures us that if we need them to come back out they will be more than happy to, but to date I haven't had to call and that's because when Aptive comes out they do such a good job that we don't require additional applications. Thank you all so much for your attention to detail and also for rewarding your employees; great company!

Pioneer Pest Management
I live out in prime mole territory in West County. I had Pioneer Pest Control out two years ago. They visited frequently through the spring, summer, and early fall to empty, move, and reset traps. Prices were comparable or better to what we'd paid in the past with two or three different services.They offed several of those nasty things. Since then, the mole activity is minimal and controllable on my own. It's virtually impossible "win" the war on moles. Not sure what Pioneer did different than other services, but Pioneer was able to beat back the mole forces to the point where it's no longer a pitched battle. Judging by the activity this year, it looks like it'll still be pretty minimal again reative to previous years. I've no doubt that they'll be able to make a comeback in ensuing years. And when they do, I'll simply call Pioneer again. No question about it.

Drew did an excellent job. He was courteous and prompt. He answered my questions and did not treated me like I was asking stupid questions. I would recommend Aptive because of Drew. On 9/23/16 I had my first quarterly and had Larry. He was great and like Drew explained things to me and told me how long it would take. On 12/09/16 Larry did my 2nd quarterly-he was great he asked me how the pest control was doing and explained what he would be doing on this visit. He advised me how long it would take and came and told me when he was finished. He was very courteous. Had my 3rd quarterly on 3/14-Larry did great again. He asked if I had any problem, I didn't but asked if he would do garage and he did. He is always courteous and explains if I have a question.

Wow! I had my first service a few days ago and have noticed improvement already with the ant problems we are having but today I go outside to fire up the BBQ grill for my 4th of July get together and there was a wasp nest inside of the grill! The service pro that had done my first service left me his number on a referral sheet so I gave him a call, knowing that the office was closed and sure enough he answered. I asked him for some pointers on how to rid the nest and he told me was actually working today! On the 4th of July! AND that he was already in the area. He arrived 30 mins later and took care of the problem for me! Now I don't have to worry about wasps and I can get my grilling started! Amazing service! Wow.

I had a very good experience with Alterra. First, the salesman knocked gently on the front door, which was nice. It didn't feel agressive, but a friendly know. He explained everything very well, and gave us a discount on the first year. Then John H. came by during his scheduled time and did the outside first, explaining what and where he sprayed. He also explained what they found both around the house and on our landscaping. Next, he wore shoes throughout the entire interior spraying, and worked quickly. What impressed me was that he looked clean cut, used good english, was polite, and appeared to know what he was doing. I liked the entire experience. Lori S.

My Alterra Service Pro, James C., visited today to inspect and treat my home for household pests (the insect-type!) James impressed me because:1. James announced his arrival by ringing the door bell & greeted me kindly.2. He inspected the exterior of the home thoroughly and treated for a small issue.3. Announced when he had finished his work and explained what he had done re: inspection & treatment.4. James was very personable and professional in his interactions with me.So many home repair or company technicians today never announce their arrival, but that was not the case with James C. I highly recommend Alterra Pest Control. When scheduling my initial visit, they were able to put me on the calendar the next business day. James C., my servive pro, was on time and professional. He took the time to play with my 1 1/2 year old who was a little unsure about the strange man in our house--he took the time to make my son feel comfortable. He was very thorough in cleaning and spraying our house for spiders. Before leaving, he let me know what kind of spiders we had and to not hesistate to schedule another appointment if we have any problems. Overall, I am very impressed with this company and would highly recommend them!

No. Because termite infestations are considered preventable, most home insurance policies do not cover treatments or damage.
It's best to treat an entire home to ensure the termite infestation is completely eliminated. Spot treating costs less, but increases the likelihood of missed colonies. In addition, spot treatments can make a home unattractive to future buyers.
The cost to eliminate termites varies depending on the method. Bait costs between $150-$300, while fumigation costs $1,300-$2,500. Heat treatment costs around $1 per square foot, so a 2,500 square-foot home would cost $2,500.
The length of time depends on the process used:
  • Fumigation takes approximately five days. The termites die quickly, but homeowners must remain out of the house until the chemicals clear.
  • Bait exterminations can take months to destroy an entire colony. The bait kills termites during the molting process. If an insect eats the bait and does not molt, it is unaffected.
  • Heat extermination takes approximately eight hours and is environmentally friendly. This process heats the home to 150 degrees F.
