I can't believe how quickly Matt got here, how patiently he explained things, and how reasonably he charged us. Thank you, Roto Rooter! I'll call you again, although hopefully not soon :)

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
I thought I simply had a clogged drain when I made the call to Roto-Rooter for service, but unfortunately it has turned out to be a much deeper problem for this homeowner. After the service man cabled the kitchen drainpipe, we found out the underground pipe was broken when the cable got stuck about 10 ft out and wouldn't go any further or retract again. Mike 6564 patiently explained the problem and had a sewer solution specialist Glen Roeder come and survey the issue. It was thoroughly explained to us what repairs were needed. Mike6564 will return tomorrow to start the excavation and pipe replacement process and said we should be completed in 2 days depending on a county permit inspection. I'm glad I called Roto-Rooter as these folks come out within 1 - 2 hours to assess any problem and the servicemen give the customer an accurate bid as to what final costs could be. I've used Roto-Rooter people for over 15 years for all my plumbing/drain issues and have been pleased with their service and professionalism.

Outstanding service and expertise. Been using Roto-Rooter for over two decades with always the best results. Our tech Jason E. 3686 set to work quickly and did a wonderful job. Cleaned up and left the work site better than he found it.

Our plumber did an excellent job. He was professional, and replaced our washer connections very quickly. The cost was very reasonable. I'll definitely call Roto-Rooter again for any plumbing problems.

Cleared the initial clog, but left the cap off and we didn't think to double check his work so there was sewage on the floor again. Called and he came back quick to fix and was apologetic. However, the guy who came back the next day to operate the camera seemed more intent on selling thousands of dollars of work without specifically being able to justify it. Also was supposed to give us a video of what he found but never did. Even if we need the work, don't think that I don't go with these guys. They just don't inspire confidence in their attention to detail or their desire to do more than give you a $10,000 bill.

Tips & Advices
A trustworthy plumber will have both commercial liability insurance as well as be bonded. The insurance and the bond protects the plumber from paying for any damages made to your house out of pocket. Having professionals that carry both of these policies can protect all of you from any mishaps that could occur while they work on your building.
  • Before calling a plumber, try to unclog your drains and toilets yourself by using a plunger.
  • Make sure you use a standard bell-shaped plunger for your sink and shower drains and a plunger with a flanged end for your toilets.
  • If neither type can loosen the pipe blockage, put a plumber's snake to use.
  • Ratchet the snake down the pipe to eliminate any clogs.
Usually, a leaky or dripping faucet is an easy fix that can be done by anyone who is even slightly handy with tools.. To fix it, first shut off the water under the sink then remove any decorative parts of the faucet and replace the washer and O-ring before reassembling everything.
To keep yourself safe from fraud or a possible scam, always remember to ask plumbers for their license along with a written warranty for their labor. Besides this, further safeguard yourself by checking their references and ensure they or their company is insured and bonded to do their work.
If you're having hot water issues, you can examine the thermostat and adjust it accordingly. If you hear odd sounds coming from your water heater, it could be due to sediment building up. To get rid of this, make sure you clean out the heater every few months. However, if you hear a boiling noise, it could mean the heater is overheating and you should call a plumbing professional as soon as possible.
