Voyager Inn
We stayed Labor Day Weekend 2016,.Locationwas good, Check in was easy. The room was clean, The room had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. On sunday night when we returned from our outing we found that the housekeeper helped herself to all of our returnable cans. We were putting them back into the cases next to the fridge. I can see if we had checked out then she could have them. She took something that was not hers. They are not any Kroger stores in the UP. I informed the desk at checkout in the morning. The girl informed me that the store down the road takes returnable cans. I explained that although it was not a lot of money, I was out because their staff took it. she said they would talk to the staff and the point was taken. No the point was not taken and they should have offered to reimburse me in someway. What else does the staff take? Beware there are thieves

K Royale Lakefront Inn
I stayed there the last weekend of June in 2014, I went and booked there for the weekend to go to Mackinac Island and St Ignace area. Very nice motel, out enough from town to stay quiet for my relaxation. They have a great sheltered pool with a real awesome Jacuzzi. The view on all rooms is of the lake and the island. We caught it at the height of mayfly season with midges swarming like evil clouds. They do not bite, but were annoying. The young lady at the desk said this was the worse year for them in a long time. Maybe they just wanted to vacation in the area like me. All in all, a great time, great people working there, shuttle service to the boat docks, and near some of the best restaurants around. I am booking again this year for the same time period. Hopefully sans mayflies, if not, they need to party too.

Normandy Motel
This is an older motel, but very reasonably priced and clean. Nothing fancy. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. There were even extra pillows in the closet that were not so fluffy, if you prefer. They do have an outdoor heated pool but we did not have time to use it. The people that run the place are very nice. I did see one review that said they were very unhappy because they got kicked out because the people next to them complained about their dog barking and the hotel would not give them a refund. Well, duh! Why would they? They still have to clean the room and they probably did not get to re-rent it for the night because the cleaning staff are only there at check out time. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay if you are looking for just a clean, quiet, less expensive place to stay.

Birchwood Motel
This business is fantastic! Family run and they make you feel like family. Late night check in? Not a problem, call ahead and they will make arrangements for you! Rooms are clean, kitchenette is awesome! WiFi available and never had an issue with it. Lots of space outdoors for kids to play, firepit, and grill! Love the wooden swings, made for relaxing. All rooms are nonsmoking, which is to be expected, as that's the law in Michigan. I like to book and pay with my card over the phone and it has never been an issue in the four years we have been going. I see only improvements. Decor is cute, staff is friendly, and their dog is sweet. Rooms are clean and affordable which is hard to find anymore. Staff is knowledgeable of the area and very helpful with giving directions.

K Royale Lakefront Inn
I just wish they accepted pets and were open in the winter. Since they don't allow dogs, we can't stay there anymore, but I loved the place and so did my kids. Nice beach, nice views, nice hot tub and nice people.
