David Lanni Construction
If you are looking for a remodeling contractor, I highly recommend David Lanni, owner of David Lanni Construction. David is professional, easy to work with, and very good at what he does. David does excellent work and I am very impressed with all the work he has done. Also, his showroom is gorgeous. Take the time to call David for an appointment to go take a look at it. It is definitely one of a kind. He has beautiful displays and so many products to pick from that are all great quality. I enjoyed working with him and his team!!! He does a lot of his own design work and comes up with awesome ideas where I was drawing a blank on what to do! He holds your hand throughout the whole project and guides you from start to finish. I definitely give David and his team an above average score.

Lemieux Construction
Since the remodel of our kitchen in 2002, John Lemieux has done various remodeling projects in my home located in the College Greens neighborhood of Sacramento. I highly recommend him based on as his word, his workmanship, and attention to detail. John commits himself to a consistency that serves his customers very well. For one, he commits to a sequential "day to day" working schedule until the job is completed. He exemplifies the importance of daily clean up and protection of one's floors and home furnishings. This contractor lends undeniable proof that serves to restore the kind of credibility and integrity that is too often lacking in the home construction industry.

Perfect Palettes Color Consulting
After living with the same color for six years, we decided to change the look of our place a bit with some new paint. Since we had no clue where to start, we decided to consult a professional, and we found Tamara. She was puntural, friendly and very knowledgeable at her work. She asked for our input and was able to work with our need. We painted with her suggestion and the result was as good as she envisioned. Even my picky husband had no complain this time. Everyone was surprised at what a big change a painting job did and newcomers thought our house was the model home. I loved what Tamara did for us and will definitely recommend to everyone.

Able D Construction
I was concerned about the time frame, but they worked in a very timely manner. They did a good job. They were good about cleaning up their mess. They were very professional. Overall, I have been impressed with their company and work. I don't really have anything bad to say about the company. I don't have any problems with the work itself, though. I even told them that I would never say anything bad about their work because it wouldn't be true for my experience. I am perfectly happy with their work.

Perfect Palettes Color Consulting
Tamara did a wonderful job selecting colors for our kitchen and master bathroom. She was very professional, easy to work with, and definitely knows what she is doing. We had remodeled our kitchen about 5 years ago but it never felt right because the colors were off. As soon as we repainted the kitchen with the new colors that Tamara picked, it was instantly a much more relaxing and cohesive space to spend time in.

Casa Bella Galleria
I've lived in several large cities (London, Philadelphia, San Francisco), and it was really cool to find a store like this in Sacramento! The inside is beautifully set-up, and the owners provided a very personal and knowledgeable experience in their furniture, which is the reason I choose to shop in small businesses rather than large chain retailers. The place was a bit hard to find, but totally worth the trek!

Patriot Framing
Patriot Framing is outstanding. It has been a long time since we have seen a team work so smoothly and well together. They are beyond professional and responsive. Jorge, our superintendent considers all aspects of a job and the interface with the other sub-contractors. He is incredibly professional, knowledgable and anyone would be lucky to have him and his crew on their project.

Sacramento Bee
We have subscribed to the Sacramento Bee since 1972 when we returned to the Sacramento area after my husband got out of the Air Force. We enjoy the variety of news items they cover, as well as the puzzles and comics. We have had a wet paper or a missing paper a few times over the years, but a quick phone call usually resolves the issue.

Sacramento Bee
So hard to get a hold of a live person to cancel my subscription. And their prices are completely arbitrary. While my mother, who lives just a mile or so from me, was getting charged $19.99 for a year of Sunday delivery, they were trying to charge me nearly double.

Rx Contracting Inc.
Rx helped me redo a bathroom, redesigning and fitting it with handicapped access and railings for my mother. They did a great job, were clean, fair in their pricing and did the work on time. Buck is very polite and gets back to you quickly.Highly recommended.
Tips & Advices
If there is ever a dispute regarding payment over the course of the project, a contractor or subcontractor could place a payment claim, or lien, on your property. To avoid this, ask the contractor to sign a lien release, which is a legal agreement that states that any payment accepted is final. This can come in handy if a contractor has his or her own payment issues with their subcontractors. Signing a lien release form certifies that any payment made by a client to the contractor is enough to pay for any goods or services rendered.
Absolutely ask. Paying too much up front offers the homeowner minimal leverage if the quality of work does not meet expectations or contractual specifications. Try to establish a reasonable pay schedule, such as paying 10 percent of the total cost for each 10 percent of the work that is completed. Include this payment plan in the contract, as well.
Before any money changes hands, there should be a contract to sign. Make sure the specifics of the work and all costs are listed in the contract, including details. If you forget to have something included in the contract after signing it, there's rarely a chance of recourse.
Ask the contractor for proof of their certification before signing anything, as well as their proof of insurance. You should also check your homeowners insurance policy to see if they offer coverage for contracted work. You may want to call your insurance provider and ask for more details on what your plan will and won't cover.
Yes. Plans for how the work site will be cleaned at the end of each day as well as at the conclusion of work need to be put in writing. An experienced general contractor should make every effort to keep the workspace clean and prevent dirtying or damaging any other area. Even so, talk with the contractor about the daily schedule, the logistics of transporting workers and equipment, and how cleanup will be handled.
