Tokyo Fro's
This is one of the best sushi restaurants that I have been to. The atmosphere is modern yet comfortable with contemporary artwork on the walls and neat lighting. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The wait staff are welcoming and efficient. The food is absolutely delicious and named with humorous names. A couple of examples are two sushi rolls titled "G spot" and "Godzilla." They also have a "happy hour" during the week with discounted menu items and drinks. Also unlike other sushi restaurants they offer items that our children are willing to eat. We like to come here for special occasions and birthdays. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is that the prices are a bit higher than I think they should be. When we first started eating here four years ago the prices were much lower.

Hawks Provisions & Public House
Hawks serves up delicious eats and great cocktails, in a cozy little spot on the corner. The only reason I give 4 out of 5 stars is because they only take reservations for 6+, but the venue is quite small and half their tables are only for two. I tried making a reservation for 5 to no avail and when I arrived an hour ahead of my party it was an 1 1/2 wait. But what I found frustrating at that point is the hostess had been taking any parties for all sizes and putting them on the wait list if they called later that night. Overall, I'll be back but with a party of 6 or earlier in the evening!

Tower Cafe
PEANUT BUTTER TART! I don't need to say more, but since I have to.... The dessert case is amazing and it's so decadent. With an array of refreshing options. If you are a foodie and haven't tried this place it is a must. Quirky atmosphere, very busy.. Great patio! The French toast is lovely and I have heard of this colossal grilled cheese with 5cheese? ....only served during the week. Oh, come on... I can only get there on the weekend..

Sushi Paradiso
Most underrated, unknown sushi place in Sacramento. The husband and wife who own it work within the restaurant, so helpful and patient when I wanted to try new things and always remember me when I come in no matter how long it has been. Also they have a glass bar top that lights up and makes eating at the sushi bar that much more unforgettable.

Table Vine
Amazing find downtown. A place in Sacramento that does affordable fine dining. Chef does wonderful flavors that pair well with selections from one of the best wine lists in town. Excellent Clam Chowder, cheese plate and one of the best Duck Breasts (if not the best) in Sacramento! Schnitzel anyone? Find it here. Menu changes seasonally.

The Coconut
Delicious food and massive portions at reasonable prices. They also have many items on their menu that are vegan and can be made gluten free! The vegetable roll appetizer is super fresh and filling. I liked that the pad thai didn't have a fishy flavor like it does at so many other restaurants. The thai iced coffee was super tasty as well.

Kupros Craft House
I want to love Kupros, but I always find it kind of underwhelming. They have a good beer selection, but I just don't love the food. Plus, it really irks me that they don't give you enough salad dressing to begin with and then charge you extra when you request more. I'd go there for a drink, but if I'm looking for food, I would pass.

Kru has amazing sushi - it's a shame their service is so terrible. I wish the managers would listen to the complaints and make some changes, but I guess as long as they're getting business they're not worried about returning customers. The other problem is the lack of a full bar - seems odd for an establishment on J street.

Lou's Sushi
A great small, local business in midtown Sacramento. This building has had a ton of turnover and i would love to see Lou's stick around. They have a wonderful patio when the weather is nice. Small menu, but a great place to stop in for some food on a night you want sushi but don't want to deal with a big restaurant or wait.

The Coconut On T
From the outside, this looks like a little "hole in the wall" restaurant, but inside it is bright and cheery and definitely family friendly. My favorite dish was the Yellow Curry, however, everything we ordered from appetizers to main dishes were delicious. The prices were also very reasonable.

Just a moment...
