My family and I have been seeing Heidi for our eye care needs for several years now. They are always accommodating and work with our insurance. The staff are always there to help and the ladies in the dispensing area are always so helpful, (so sorry I cant remember their names now) you don't have to worry about picking glasses out without your best friend to tell you if they are right for you or not. These ladies are honest and will help you pick a pair just right for you. They explain everything and let you know what the insurance will cover and what they wont. The scratch coating and warranty are a good deal if you scratch your lenses they will just order you new lenses and call you when they are in....you can continue to wear your glasses so there is no "down time" - no sending you actual glasses off to be replaced! Just come in after they call you and they will swap them out. My son got contacts for the first time and they were very good about checking him out several times for their fit and he had some eye irritation and she gave him some drops to try and really took the time to follow up and make sure everything was OK. They didn't just sell us a box and then say OK see you in a year. They really care! Check them out if you are in need of a eye Dr. give them a call. They take VSP for sure since thats what we have, but check and see if they take yours too. You wont be disappointed.

I needed new glasses and my old prescription had expired. I went to Costco, but the wait was too long. At the insistence of a friend, (but with some hesitation), I went to this location an older shopping plaza in the heart of Sacramento's "Little Saigon" district. Much to my surprise, the interior was modern and clean, and equipped with the same up to date equipment I would expect to find at a more upscale location. I walked in without an appointment, but after filling out medical history forms, I was taken straight to the examination room. The Optometrist who examined me was very professional, kind and patient. He took extra time to explain the details of my condition and what I should expect over the next few years. He spoke perfect English. ( I assume he grew up in this country and went to medical school here.) There was a decent selection of frames in the reception area, but I had already chosen frames elsewhere, so I took my prescription and left. By the way. The exam cost $10.00 less than I would have paid at Costco. I give this business a triple A plus Five Star rating. That is why I spent so much time writing this review.

Just went there today to have my glasses fixed. Best service and nicest people I've ever met in a business in Sacramento. Heidi fixed my glasses in a few minutes...between customers...and with a smile...and free of charge. (Note: Obviously...their services are not free...but my glasses just needed a quick tweeking...and they did it fast and for free...because I'm a customer). If you want the best service, with the nicest people in Sacramento...your search for quality Optometry ends here.

Eagle Vision Eye Care
Our whole family has been going here for many years. After one son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes we searched out an eye dr that had state-of-the-art equipment for thorough tests to ensure his eyes were kept healthy. The Drs are very knowledgeable, but sometimes the office staff is hard to work with/not as knowledgeable about benefits as i wpuld hope.

Grutzmacher Lewis & Sierra Surgical Eye Specialists
Dr Grutzmacher did my cataract surgery a few months ago. I appreciated that he explained my condition and the process of the surgeries. He wrote down terms that were relevant so I could look them up on the Internet for more detail. I highly recommend him!

Bliss Eye Associates
Bliss Eye is a great place. Much bigger office now than when they were on Coyle. Dr. Yaminishi is the one I see and he is so nice. Very friendly! They also sale eye glasses there so you can do everything at one place.

Bliss Eye Associates
I've been a patient here for years and have seen the optometrists and Dr. Bliss. Very helpful staff and the doctors have been excellent. Occasionally there can be a wait, but usually I'm seen on time.

Eagle Vision Eye Care
Dr. Johnson and his team are one of the best eye doctors I have been to. When we suspected our daughter needed glasses, we didn't hesitate to take her there.
Tips & Advices
To find a professional that fits your needs and wants, look for an optometrist with the proper licensing and compliance with state-specific legalities as well as these qualities: attentiveness, ability to listen, ethics, compassion, ability to communicate effectively and willingness to spend time with patients.
Vision, like dental, is often an additional voluntary cost for employers who provide health care coverage. As a result, it may not be included in basic company-sponsored insurance. Those who do have access to this type of coverage - or Medicare - often only pay for a portion of their eye exam services.
The cost of an appointment with an optometrist varies based on the services required. While a typical eye exam can range from $50 to $250, depending on location. If if glasses or contact lenses are prescribed, or tests are needed, the overall expense of an optometrist visit can increase.
The American Optometric Association recommended that patients have their first eye exam at six months of age, followed by another at 3 years old, and again at school age. At that point, Regular annual exams are recommended.
Ophthalmologists are eye doctors that have received higher levels of training than both opticians and optometrists, and can also perform eye surgery when necessary. Opticians design and fit eyeglasses, frames, and lenses that are prescribed by optometrists and ophthalmologists. They do not perform vision tests or write prescriptions for visual aids. Optometrists fall between ophthalmologists and opticians. Optometrists can detect and treat eye abnormalities, prescribe lenses, and complete eye exams, but cannot perform eye surgery.
