Lemieux Construction & Plumbing
Since the remodel of our kitchen in 2002, John Lemieux has done various remodeling projects in my home located in the College Greens neighborhood of Sacramento. I highly recommend him based on as his word, his workmanship, and attention to detail. John commits himself to a consistency that serves his customers very well. For one, he commits to a sequential "day to day" working schedule until the job is completed. He exemplifies the importance of daily clean up and protection of one's floors and home furnishings. This contractor lends undeniable proof that serves to restore the kind of credibility and integrity that is too often lacking in the home construction industry.

Energy Star Construction
When I asked other construction professionals about the price they quoted for windows, the price was triple what they quoted me. If you do get a quote from them please be sure and compare it to other contractors.

He's super busy so it can be hard to schedule repairs, but that just proves he's good at what he does.

Sacramento Bee
I have been trying for 7 days to get a newspaper delivered to my 89 year old mother in law that moved to Sacramento. I called 4 times, and left 2 messages. Each call the c/s person says they will credit her and she'll get the paper tomorrow. When I called this morning I asked for a supervisor, which is no surprise, never came to the phone. I sent a email this morning asking why the paper is not being delivered and haven't heard back. No wonder the "paper" is loosing ground to internet information. Its like they don't care........

South Sea Roofing
Desmond and South Sea Roofing did a fantastic job on replacing our 3000 sq. ft. roof. He and his crew where courteous, hard-working, kept the work site clean and did everything correctly. We had an issue with the roofing material from the manufacturer, and Desmond came out the same day we called him, handled the issue with the company and was very responsive every time we had a question. We also referred South Sea to a friend of ours who had multiple roofers tell them they needed a new roof. South Sea went over to their house and determined all they needed was a repair to one small area of the roof. South Sea Roofing is honest and reliable!

David Lanni Construction
I regret hiring David Lanni as my contractor for my bedroom and bath remodel. I relied on his experience and word to help guide me in decisions that were made. Big mistake. The subcontractors did fine work, but the areas that were sub-par in my opinion was from David’s work and direction to his crew. David also wanted to be paid in full before the end of the project. Our project cost went from an estimate in the mid fifty thousand to the final cost in the mid eighties. That didn’t even include the cost of doors, some lighting, ceiling fan and various hardware that was ten thousand plus dollars. Issues:1) Wall layout not even which shows up in flooring2) Flooring not started correctly which resulted in some pieces being cut down to adjust for mistake3) Different size nosing on stairs to adjust for mistakes4) Flooring not installed per recommended method ( floated or glued, not nailed) which has resulted in squeaks5) Plumbing trim under sinks don’t match6) Finish on exterior of windows scratched7) Windows not installed correctly per Milguard Siding repair where window was removed not done in manner which I would be proud of if I was a contractor. Damage to a blind we had installed. [we just wanted David gone by this time] The list could continue but what’s the point? These are my options for you to consider.I made the mistake by hiring David in the first place.
Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
