TruGreen Lawn Care
We have a new lawn, with our newly built home. The first two summers produced a yard with a high weed content, which had been difficult to get under control. We have kids that use the yard, so grass "like we used to know" was important to us, so we chose to give TruGreen a shot. The grass is very lush, with some minor weeds now that the lawn is established, and we have been happy with the employees of Trugreen that service our yard. We do own a small stretch of lawn on the other side of our backyard fence, and I have to remind the service folks to treat that, because if I don't it's hit or miss. We don't use that part of the lawn, but I still have to mow it, so no weeds there are important to me.

Lawn Doctor
I heard Lawn Dr changed ownership in 2012 from one of their customers so I set up service with them. I really like the way they operate because it's a LOCAL business that has been around a while. I was with one of their competitors the year before and the customer service was horrendous and definitely NOT local. So far this year my grass is green and pretty much weed free. The one time I had a question I left a message and their office person called me right back. I highly recommend Lawn Doctor for service and results

Lawn is getting much needed face lift. Lawn is showing much improvement. We had Trugreen many years before and were happy then and even happier now. Your company has worked $$$ that we can afford and the customer service has been very enjoyable to work with. We did appreciate the senior citizen discount that we were offered and gladly accepted. Our specialist has been very helpful and able to answer our questions. He has been a pleasure to work with!

TruGreen Lawn Care
Our TruGreen specialist is professional and efficient. Our lawn and shrubs have responded well to the treatments that have been applied. It is weed free for the most part, although much of the grass has turned brown during the month of August, even with watering. I am hopeful that the green color will return when the weather cools down in the fall.

The lawn looks great. I had no problem rescheduling the application from last week to this week due to leaves. Specialist (David Schlosser) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He mentioned the ice melt product which I needed especially after last winter. It'll save me a trip to the store and it's probably a better product.

The specialists are on time and they always ring the door bell or knock to let me know that they have arrived. They greet me with a smile and ask me if there is any particular problem they need to address. Talking with the specialist is always a comfort and leaves me with a good feeling.

Callahans Lawn Care & Property
My first year hiring for lawn care. I have been very pleased with the service so far. I also like the fact I can pay online and view my invoices. I hope to continue with Callahans Lawn Care next year and also plan on getting snow plowing for the winter.

EnviroTech
Contacted their services after we found some mold in my mother's Penfield home. The tech they sent was knowledgeable and a nice guy to boot. Took him 2 days and mom's place is now mold free. Would recommend envirotech to anyone that has a similar issue.

I didn't see anything, only the little yellow signs on my lawn let me know that you had been there. Oh, yes, there was also a small package of literature on the front door telling me what had been done.
Tips & Advices
Irrigation system advantages:
  • Lowers water bill and maintenance time with scheduled watering
  • Evenly distributes water
Irrigation system disadvantages:
  • Professionally installed systems cost between $3,000-$4,000 for a quarter-acre lot.
  • Some do-it-yourself systems cost up to $1,500 but are difficult to install.
  • You may need to call a professional electrician and plumber, adding $300-$600 to your project.
Some plants can stand up to the cold weather, like kale or pansies. These can be planted in the autumn or early winter. Other plants need to wait until the soil is warm and ready. Plant perennial flowers in mid-autumn or mid-spring. If you're planting from seed or sprout, you can generally find information about planting conditions on the package.
Why get artificial grass?
  • Cuts down on lawn maintenance
  • It's environmentally friendly since there’s no need to water.
  • Artificial grasses may be more attractive than real grass in drought-stricken areas.
Why stick to the real deal?
  • Artificial grass has a high upfront cost - $15 to $20 per square foot.
  • It can be difficult to install.
  • Inexpensive options might look unnatural.
  • It gets hot in the sun.
First, determine which pests you're dealing with. Mounds or tunnels indicate moles or voles. Apply castor oil to your lawn; they'll find another digging spot. Determine which bugs you have by pouring a bucket of soapy water onto the lawn. The bugs will surface so you can identify them. Milky spore and nematodes keep grubs and other bugs at bay. Insecticidal soap also works. The best way to prevent pests is with good yard maintenance. Certain bugs prefer overwatered lawns or yards with thatches. Regular mowing, watering, and dethatching discourage pests from moving in.
Fertilizer isn't always necessary, but it can keep your lawn looking lush and healthy. Use fertilizer with slow release nitrogen so it doesn't encourage weeds to grow. Keep in mind that overfertilizing can spur weed growth. However, under-fertilizing can result in weak grass, which gives weeds more space to take root.
