1.St Marks Lutheran Church
1008 Franklin Rd SW0.52 mi Roanoke, VA Lutheran ChurchesChurches & Places of Worship
St. Mark's Lutheran Church St. Mark's Lutheran Church was founded in 1869, built in 1873 and has been at its present location on Franklin Road since 1953. We worship and learn together, focusing on the transforming power of God in Jesus Christ. The members are hardworking and friendly. The people of St. Mark's have a strong history of service to the Lutheran Church, the Virginia Synod and especially to the Roanoke community. The Free Clinic was founded by the members of St. Mark's and they have been active in many other social ministry projects in the area as well, including building Habitat for Humanity houses, volunteering at the Roanoke Area Ministries ( RAM House ), the Rescue Mission, as well as running their own clothes closet and food pantry. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, St. Mark's seeks to proclaim and live out the love of God that is revealed in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Church is essential to Christian life and growth. Its members are all sinners in need of God's grace. It has no claim on human perfection. The church exists solely for the hearing and doing of God's Word. It can justify its existence only when it proclaims the living Word of Christ, administers the Sacraments and gives itself to the world in deeds of service and love. Most Lutherans recognize a wider fellowship of churches and are eager to work alongside them in ecumenical ministries and projects.

This is a wonderful preschool! I have sent all of my children to 2nd Presbyterian Preschool. I have found the teachers and director to be professional, warm and children focused. The school focuses on learning through play...letting children be children...but also preparing them for kindergarten. The school offers a weekly workshop and music class. The environment is very clean and colorful. The most well run school I visited!

I think I've been looking for something like Pastors David and Jill all of my life. They are down to earth and under Pastor's teaching I have grown and learned so much.
4.St Andrew's Catholic Church
631 N Jefferson St0.51 mi Roanoke, VA Catholic ChurchesChurches & Places of Worship
I have never experienced such a well rounded parish since the Vatican 2 reforms! Monsignor Miller is the most pastoral pastor I have ever known. Deacon Mark is very kind...the priest and deacon compliment each other. Both give great homilies. The music program is probably the best in Roanoke...I say.this after experiencing other churches both Catholic and non-Catholic. Kelly does an extraordinary job. The energy is so extremely positive at St, Andrew's and one can appreciate it just as soon as they enter the sanctuary . Everybody seems happy to be there and each Mass is packed to the hilt with the faithful. Such a great place!
