    Very Rude! Never ever go here. We were late, Fort Street was under construction. I came from Farmington Hills and took my mom here as a gift. We called on the way to let them know we had moved about one mile in ten minutes and would be late; we asked if it was a problem we would be late and was told no. We get there and are quickly greeted by a rude woman stating we were 15 minutes late. I explained that I had called and looked around and saw no one there waiting for the next appointment. They shuffled us down to a dirty basement, dollar store decor, very dirty, place had filthy carpet. It was pretty dark so we were a little weary about sitting in there chairs, if the carpet was so dingy, what are we sitting in that we can not see? They gave us a drink which was nice but by time they were done bringing us drinks and filling out the largest pamphlet of questions I have ever come across for a pedicure- we only had 20 minutes left. The woman explained (very rudely) there was only enough time for a soak and paint. I told them I understand if someone is waiting for the next appointment but please make sure my mom has the best treatment they can supply, this was her first time at a salon for a pedicure. The woman working on my mother was very rude. The entire time she was working on my mom she kept talking about how she needs to keep better care of her feet and was going on and on about it. My mom is too polite to say anything so she just kept looking at me getting pretty annoyed. When they had rushed us thru and finished they led us back upstairs and then went in another room. We sat by the fire and let our toes dry then I went to pay. No one was there for an appointment. No workers could be found but I could here them talking. After I finally found someone I asked the woman to adjust our bill as I had paid for one of the most expensive pedicures and did not get half of the service we paid for. The woman was rude and did not even consider it. This was a gift and I did not want to add to my mom's stress so I dropped it and paid over 120.00. for rude people to paint our toes and not even something you could call a soak. My mom’s gift was very disappointing and the people were very rude. She still talks about the rude lady that gave her a worse pedicure then she gave herself. She now thinks all pedicures are like this and will never ever go to a salon again. I feel my money was wasted, they took advantage of us. If I ever got a gift card for this place I would throw it away. I would never give it to someone as they would think I was recommending the place and I would feel too guilty to get someone excited about a relaxing retreat and it actually turn out to be a stressful rude situation.

  • Highly Theraputic

    After I was injured at work and a week's worth of physical therapy, the pain was only getting worse. I had sprained my back from my shoulder blades down through my tailbone and was unable to work, sleep or function. After a friend's recommendation, I went to Somata Spa in hopes that massage would help. After one session I immediately felt relief. During the course of approximately four sessions, my injury was nearly healed and I was able to return to work. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere relaxing, I would definately come back.

  • Not the ""Center of the Universe""

    I used to recommend this spa. Several family members got gift certificates because of my recommendations. My sister made an appointment a month in advance. When she showed up for her appointment, the manager said the person she was scheduled with quit several weeks ago and was not sure why no one had called to change the appointment. Needless to say, my sister did not feel like the ""center of the universe"", as Somata Spa claims. He did nothing other than to offer an appointment on another day, as no women massage therapists were available at the time. I have had no problems in the past with Somata Spa, but do not know if I would recommend a high end spa that did nothing more than say ""I'm sorry"" when handling a problem like this, especially when they require a 48 hour notice for a customer to cancel an appointment.

    Enjoyed the wine, the wonderful staff, the abundant amount of services and the intimate atmosphere while receiving my pedicure. They offer just about everything a true salon can, and I cannot wait to go back!
