Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital
What a horrible place! I was LIED to from the nurse and the doctor after they gave me the wrong medication and I almost died. Terrible people. I again was LIED to by the hospital administrator and the chief medical officer. I'm telling you, stay away while you still can! This is one dark, scary place! You can put up a cross and pretend to be a Christian place but that is another lie and I hope this place gets shut down!

I was raped by one of the nurses here about three years ago. I was in there for less than two days and we had to get some woman to come in and take me out against medical advice because I was so drugged I could barely walk and I was miserable and neglected there. A nurse made me throw away my breakfast because I touched a sugar packet on my tray and apparently we aren't supposed to have those. (I have a blood disorder too, so not eating made me sick.) they would lie to my mother when she called (and I was sitting right there) that I was in therapy and couldn't talk while I screamed for her right next to them. The toilets have half-doors and absolutely no privacy-your roommate can literally watch you defecate and urinate. Once, a nurse walked in the bathroom to see me use it.They didn't even evaluate me before they started drugging me. I got meds that caused me to become extremely ill. The furniture has obscenities scratched into it. I now have PTSD because of this awful place.

My family is having to deal with Tucker's Pavillion presently. As a visitor to the facility, I am appalled by both conditions and the general state of the staff. With few exceptions, the staff reflects a lack of responsibility in dealing with patients on an individual level. True, this isn't a "snake pit" in the sense of the classic movie. With all of the modern conveniences, it appears to be more of an upholstered snake pit. Unfortunately, I am not able to give it my true rating (NO Stars) so I must give it a single star....reluctantly.

Completely and utterly disappointed with this facility! I had an appt at 3:45 pm, wasn't called back until almost 5pm, with no apology or explanation from the doctor. He NEVER introduced himself to me, and once in his office, I had to wait 10 more minutes for him to fill out paperwork for the previous patient! He spent all of 10 minutes talking to me, and then basically told me there was nothing wrong with me, and that I'm fat. I was humiliated. I went in expecting to come out feeling better, but instead got in my car and cried most of the way home. I will NEVER step foot into this joke of a psychiatry's office again.

This place was NOT a mental health facility. It was a place to dump a lot of "troubled teens" when their parents couldn't handle their kids doing lame drugs all the time.Like another review said, it's like a jail. I admitted myself and asked to leave and they required a judge to come and just magically determine if I needed it or not just by looking at my sleeping body. Oh no, I'm sleeping in after a long night of mental trauma. I must need to sleep in these stupid beds for 6 days because I'm too mentally challenged to determine what treatment I want to get. Also, one nurse (O.J. Simpson) would insist on calling me by my legal name which IS NOT my real name. It was like a daycare. After a long time sleeping I asked for a snack because I was hungry and one of the nurses said that because I chose to sleep in that now it's a privilege that I get fed. I got a bag of baked lays chips. It was horrifying, the other girls made me feel bad for being a virgin, I wasn't cool because I didn't actually attempt suicide, and the doctor magically claimed that I was a control freak for refusing to talk to my mother.I'm traumatized and I recommend to NEVER EVER go to a mental ward. You won't get help no matter how much you paint and line up for your drugs. It made me worse. Us girls played a game where we had to think of all the ways we could kill ourselves in these "suicide-proof" places.Apparently girls can't sit with boys. Sexism at its finest. NEVER GO. EVER.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING BLUEFROG152 HAS WRITTEN!!! ALSO, THEY CHANGE YOUR DOCTOR WITHIN TIS PRACTICE WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. DR. MAUGHAN IS THE BEST AND WHEN HE WAS MY HUSBAND'S PCP, HE REALLY HELPED HIM WHEN HE WOULD HAVE GOUT ATTACKS. THERE ARE A FEW PROBLEMS WITH MY HUSBAND'S CURRENT, BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING AT THIS TIME IS WITH TH NURSE!! IN SHORT, SHE'S RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCARING IN OUR EXPERIENCES WITH HER. ALSO, THIS NURSE APPEARS TO BE IMPATIENT. SHE RETURNS CALLS RIGHT BEFORE THE OFFICE IS CLOSING. ALSO, SHE IS DISHONEST. MY SON CALLED HER FOR HIS DAD IN REFERENCE TO THE PAIN HE WAS EXPERIENCING BECAUSE OF A GOUT FLARE UP. SHE MADE A VERY DEROGATORY COMMENT YET BACK-PEDDLED AND DENIED IT WHEN I CONFRONTED HER ABOUT IT. THE FOLLOW-UP IS AWFUL. MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD HE NEEDED TO GET A TEST DONE OR HAVE A MRI. YET THE ORDER WAS LOST AND HE HAS NOT HAD IT DONE AS OF THIS DATE. HE IS HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING HIS NEW GOUT PRESCRIPTION FILLED AND HE'S SUFFERING WITH THE PAIN. THERE IS A LOT MORE TO TELL BUT IN THE INTEREST OF TIME, I JUST WONT. I AM JUST FED UP WITH THESE UNRESOLVED ISSUES AND HIM HAVING TO SUFFER, SOME CHANGES ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED. FINALLY, I CALLED THE NURSE TODAY TO TRY TO GET SOME OF THE ISSUES RESOLVED. I WAS SHOCKED THAT SHE CALLED ME BACK WITHIN 10 MINUTES. I DECIDED AFTER ONLY A FEW MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH HER THAT I WOULD RATHER SPEAK TO EITHER OF THE DRS INSTEAD OF HER BECAUSE OF HER ATTITUDE, SARCASM AND DISHONESTY. IN MY OPINION SHE IS NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL. I DID NOT GET A CALL BACK TODAY. FED UP AND DISAPPOINTED.

Please find another place to go. It's not a good place. The patients are assigned a case manager and it changes from day to day. After being my daughter was in there for a week, I finally met with the case manager and I asked her have you been working with my daughter? She replied no, I haven't even met with your daughter. I thought to myself how in the hell can you manage her case when you don't even know her, haven't met her or nothing. The place is so old , the beds are very old and worn and no support for the patients back from the bed. The patients can't even get ice for their drinks on their own. They have to ask for everything. They don't even get to fill out a menu for what theu want to eat. They have to eat whatever is served to them. IT'S NOT A GOOD PLACE

Tuckers is a HORRIBLE place. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. I didn't see a doctor until 2 days after I was in the facility. It feels more like a jail than a hospital. They will go through whatever means they have to in order to force you to stay regardless of whether you admitted yourself or not. They pump you full of psych meds so that you don't know what is going on. Substance abuse patients are housed in the same area as the seriously mentally ill. It's a scary place. All they do is dispense drugs like they're candy. All the patients (inmates) line up when it's time for the pills to be handed out. You're cured when your insurance money runs out. I would strongly advise anyone considering this horrendous facility to seek treatment elsewhere. Basically you'll be in Hell until they tell you that you can leave. The state should shut them down.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
