In October 2016 I had a roof leak that caused damage to both of my bathrooms, causing them to have to be gutted. I had no experience working with insurance or contractors so I struggled finding a contractor that understood what needed to be done or was willing to work with insurance. After a 4 month search I received a recommendation from a co-worker for Bob Windsor Construction. After a short meeting, Bob Windsor started working with my insurance company and was able to work with them to get the money necessary to do a proper rebuild. His team started working immediately and a short time later I was back in my house. The entire rebuild process was easy for me, his team was professional and quality was top-notch. I am very pleased with the results.

Lived in one of the apartments of Dickson Properties for 4 years. We were very happy there! Only moved because we were leaving RVA. Great location, very very reasonable rent, and any maintenance issues were usually solved by the next day. Their buildings are older so the winters can be a little hard on your utility bill, but we got a space heater which really cut down our bill! Got our full security deposit back as well. Honestly, if you are act like an adult and not a young college student (i.e take care of the place, pay your rent, and have reasonable expectations) you will be totally happy with this company! Would do it again.

My project was installing a back porch "A" roof and water damage repair to my back door. Bob is accessible and knowledgeable. His crew is timely and highly skilled at their craft. Prime Contractors
I've called many times to contact the company with no responds. leaving messages after messages to have my patio finished since August 3rd. It is extremely frustrating. This project was to finish by July 25th,It Is Now August 21st, and still NOT finished. If you, the company is reviewing this comment, I NEED you to contact me asap. You have my numbers! Above is the photo of unfinished patio till this day, the 21st of August and waiting to be finished.

If there is ever a dispute regarding payment over the course of the project, a contractor or subcontractor could place a payment claim, or lien, on your property. To avoid this, ask the contractor to sign a lien release, which is a legal agreement that states that any payment accepted is final. This can come in handy if a contractor has his or her own payment issues with their subcontractors. Signing a lien release form certifies that any payment made by a client to the contractor is enough to pay for any goods or services rendered.
Absolutely ask. Paying too much up front offers the homeowner minimal leverage if the quality of work does not meet expectations or contractual specifications. Try to establish a reasonable pay schedule, such as paying 10 percent of the total cost for each 10 percent of the work that is completed. Include this payment plan in the contract, as well.
Before any money changes hands, there should be a contract to sign. Make sure the specifics of the work and all costs are listed in the contract, including details. If you forget to have something included in the contract after signing it, there's rarely a chance of recourse.
Ask the contractor for proof of their certification before signing anything, as well as their proof of insurance. You should also check your homeowners insurance policy to see if they offer coverage for contracted work. You may want to call your insurance provider and ask for more details on what your plan will and won't cover.
Yes. Plans for how the work site will be cleaned at the end of each day as well as at the conclusion of work need to be put in writing. An experienced general contractor should make every effort to keep the workspace clean and prevent dirtying or damaging any other area. Even so, talk with the contractor about the daily schedule, the logistics of transporting workers and equipment, and how cleanup will be handled.
