Charlotte's African Hair Braiding
This lady Charollette braided my hair so tight it felt pins sticking me in my scalp constantly until after 3 days and 300 dollars I to take them out! I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy! The shop was nasty and dirty. If you are tender headed please don't go to this lady my head scalp is so sore. She doesn't listen!

So Chic Beauty
Going to So Chic was the worst salon experience I've had in my life. Not only was Kira rude but provided unsanitary and unacceptable service. When I arrived, I asked for a trim and was told she didn't have the time. I sit in the chair expecting her to detangle my hair because I have natural hair. Instead of shampooing my hair and conditioning it. She decided to take a spray bottle and wet my hair and told me that she doesn't shampoo and condition for bridal trials only styles it (mind you I have a wet head at this point so getting up and leaving isn't an option). She then proceeds to blow dry my hair with all my residue from my wash and go (gels and butters) and tells me I need to wash my hair more and that it has an odor. (I'm sitting here like, well obviously I came in expecting a shampoo for my hair). She then told me how she doesn't recommend flat ironing my hair for a desired style because she thinks the humidity would damage it on the wedding day. If she properly shampooed and gave my hair a blow out or silk press it would've had body rather than wetting it with a bottle and blow drying it. I show her he styles I want and she says she thinks brides should be modern and wear their natural (Afro) hair and not wear veils (they're overdone). At this point I'm just really over the appointment and want her to get her hands out of my hair. She then attempts (failure) to put my hair in an up do. I was better off putting it and a pony tail and leaving. If you are looking for any service, I would avoid this salon - especially if you're a bride. She was so negative, rude, unsanitary and provided terrible service. I came in from out of town to have this appointment and now have to get my hair re done. I would not trust Kira with my hair if I were you.

Bad Braids & Dreads Inc
First, let me say that they are no Ionger on N 2nd St. Ok, so...I had the stylist RE-DO my hair (box braids) due to hair starting to unravel where the braids ended and the curls began. After going home and looking at the hair, she did the same thing, which meant that the braids would unravel soon, which they did. In addition, she went and bought me some of the most HORRIBLE looking hair that looked much like dreds which didn't when I looked down at them while she was braiding. I had to return to the salon and she once again did not secure the braids to prevent unraveling. I went on their website and contacted the owner wth my displeasure and never got a response. That's not good business. I believe the stylist and the owner are friends and she put friendship ahead of busness. I got no.."I'm sorry that happened..."I'll talk to the stylist"...nothing! This in my opinion is just as bad as what the stylist did. I kept that mess in my hair for 5 weeks since I did pay over 200.00 for it, so I wasn't wasting my money like that. I just wound up wearing scarves or headbands to hide it. She also lost out on a couple of customers. I have a friend who was going to get her hair done and treat her granddaughter, but after they saw that mess...they was like:"No, thanks...I'll go elsewhere!" Like their name, the job that was done was indeed: BAD!

Awas african hair braiding
I made an appointment for 8:30 a.m. and I was not done until 8:00 p.m. for box braids. I got the impression that the owner was more concerned about getting as many customers as she could instead of taking care of the ones who came into the shop early in the morning. When I expressed my concerns the women started downing me in their native language. Anyone who gets their hair braided understands what I mean. We may not know what they are saying, but we understand they are talking about us. They made sure they helped each other, but refused to help my braider. She had to braid my hair all by herself for twelve hours. They also had the air that you are just a black woman who needs braids and we are superior Africans so deal with it. Again if you get your hair braided you know what I mean.Just giving my experience.

Essence-Braiding & Weaving
I have been a customer of Essences over 10 years. Dionne has always handled my hair professionally. Helping me through my transition to natural after years of relaxers broke off a good amount of my hair. Every picture I send her the style is created beautifully. She is honest when a style does not suit my face or is not proper for my hair texture, by suggesting alternative styles. Now my hair is healthy and I still go to her several times a year and get touch ups.

So Chic Beauty
This woman is a magician. I left her chair with the best haircut and my hair in the best condition of my life. Not only did she work pure magic on my tresses, but she educated me on how to properly care for natural/transitioning hair. She is smart, witty, and talented! Her station in the Sola Salon is also clean and comfortable, offering a relaxing atmosphere. She is great! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a new look or some routine maintenance!
