Richmond Animal Hospital
Absolutely wonderful experience here! I found a stray cat that I needed to get neutered and vaccinated with a price that wouldn't break my bank, and worked along with my very busy work schedule. I called one morning on my way to work, the lady gave me all the details I needed about when I needed to bring the cat in, and how much it would cost. She was sweet and nice on the phone, and made me feel at ease. I love that they are a walk in facility, that is open early, once again, really helps the people who have 9am-6pm work hours, and I work an hour away, so I need to be able to drop animals off before 8am. So the next morning I took the cat in, and everyone was so nice and helpful. I got to meet the vet who would be doing the procedure on my cat, his name was Dr. Mandola, and he was amazing. He was personable, had a big smile, and made you feel completely at ease. He did a quick inspection of my cat, and what I really appreciated was that I had a few questions about testing for viruses (which would have been an added cost, but most vets will see this as another way to get some more money) and Dr. Mandola gave me the facts, said that at this point the kitten vaccinations were really what were necessary, and if symptoms start to arise we will look into that later, but based on what he was seeing in my cat, there was no need. It was just really nice to have a vet give me the option to do a test, and not try and scare tactic me into it or make me feel bad for not wanting to do it for financial reasons. Overall, this vet clinic was amazing, and I am so grateful that they are affordable, clean, genuine, and have a wonderfully caring attitude toward both their human and animal clients. This place is one in a million, and I am so grateful I live close to it!!

Kindred Care Pet Hospital
We have been going to Kindred Care Pet Hospital for over a year now. When we initially walked in our Pomeranian was no longer able to pass urine and when she did it would come out with blood. My Husband and I thought for sure our dog was not going to make it and we were going to have to euthanize her. However, Once Dr.Fidelis checked her he found out that she was suffering from Bladder stones. After some testing and antibiotics, He recommended that we place our dog on a prescription diet. Our dog “Baby” has been on Hills-Urinary Care c/d for over a year now and I am so happy to say that she is no longer suffering from the bladder stones. Now, thanks to Dr. Fidelis recommendation she is like a brand new dog. I am so happy we followed his orders and placed her on the diet. It saved her life. I can genuinely say that thanks to Kindred Care Pet Hospital and its caring staff our dog is alive and bringing joy to the family. If you are looking for a Veterinarian that genuinely cares about the health of your pet then this is the office to choose. They now have a customer for life.

Dietz Family Pet Hospital
My entire family LOVES Dr. Dietz and his staff! We first visited Dr. Dietz with our 4 month old puppy and 2 cats five years ago. We were immediately greeted by the doctor himself. Before I could even talk, the doctor was on all fours greeting our dog. What passion! I immediately knew we had made a great decision.I am a mother of two under three and bring them to most of our visits. Dr. Dietz's staff comes out to the car to help me unload everyone. They greet the children with snacks and do absolutely whatever is necessary to accommodate us, including a stethoscope lesson for my three year from the doctor himself. This past year we sadly lost one of our dogs. Two days after notifying the office I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Dr. Dietz and his staff. It really meant a lot to see how much he cared. Dr. Dietz is more than just a vet, he is a true friend.

Richmond Animal Hospital
Richmond Animal Hospital has cared for our animals for over 20 years with compassion, concern, gentleness, and professionalism. Dr. Mandola is first class-both as a vet & a person. We had to put down our golden due to cancer and Dr. Mandola was kind and compassionate and to me went well beyond what I expected. I truly appreciated the individual care I received going through this and will not take my dogs now and in the future to anyone else. Dr. Mandola is truly the best!!!!!

I got my mr. Meows fix them there they were extremely professional extremely Hands-On I got there early enough that they took him in the same day I would recommend this Veterinary Clinic to anybody and I'm very protective over my pets I was a little worried about the quality of work that my cat was going to get because of the price being so low but after I got him back all fears and worries were out of the picture I can't stop saying good things about them

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
