Homanfar Ramin DDS
Response to "Very Argumentative"Dr. Homanfar always likes to get to know his patients, so he does talk in great length regarding their teeth and the options they have on treatment. Some patients become overwhelmed when they experience many areas of concerns and they begin hurting or need fillings, root canals etc. The Doctor has been asked many times to “Just pull them out” because they know older people who have dentures and they appear to do fine with them.” Generally, the doctor explains to the patient “That when you have your teeth removed permanently, you will not only have bone start disappearing, also the facial muscles attached to the jaw bone will start receding which will altametly effect the appearance. He also explains that dentures will affect the ability to sense the temperature, consistency, and, as a result, “Flavor” of the food. Nevertheless, the doctor does take into account the patient’s ultimate decision. At no point has the doctor ever accused or insinuated that a patient is a “Drug addict.” He does however; try to find a reason that a patient with extensive decay, especially when they are at a young age, has ever had a history of drug use. The doctor does genuinely care for his patients and he does ask about all forms of a patient’s health history, surgeries and any other form of information that may be helpful in the care of his patients. Patients overall health can be a direct reflection on some of the decay, diseases and other factors that a patient may be experiencing. We are disappointed that our services did not meet the needs of this patient and We are horrified that any patient would have such a negative experience in our office, we strive to make every patients experience as enjoyable as possible. We hope to correct any wrong feelings about our office and our intent to this patient. Please feel free to contact us at 775-827-5511 so we may re-erect this experience for you.

Moana Dental Care - Peggy D. Preston DDS
Dr. Preston is awesome!Okay. I absolutely HATE the dentist. Childhood trauma . . . don't ask. However, my parents kept pushing me to get my teeth fixed because I'm "going out into the world," was starting at a new job, etc. I had tried another dentist, and she wanted about $15,000 to do eight veneers. Yeah. Right. My friend had told me about Dr. Preston and how much she liked her, and since my insurance included Dr. Preston, I decided to go. The office was beautiful! Her staff was really kind too. The hygienist, Danielle, was kind and really understanding after I told her about my fear of dentistry. She was actually very gentle during my cleaning, but not so much so that I didn't feel "clean." After my cleaning appointment, I met Dr. Preston, and she was super nice. She recommended what I should get done, and when I talked about the veneers and what exactly I wanted, I felt like she actually listened. Her staff quoted me for $8,000 for eight veneers, and my insurance was going to pay for some of it anyway. Now, some periodontal therapy, three fillings (which really didn't hurt, Dr. Preston is really good with that Novocain, I barely felt the shots, and . . . yeah, okay, I had some nitrous too), and eight veneers later, I love my teeth! I've gotten so many compliments on them. Dr. Preston did a great job. I highly, highly recommend her!

Reno Dental Care
I have had dental work done at numerous dental clinics in Reno, Nevada and I am absolutely certain that Doctor Anastasia L. Owens and her staff at Reno Dental Care is the best in Reno. Not only do they provide tremendous dental work, the customer service is nothing less than commendable! Being concerned for my health, prior to my appointment, Doctor Owens asked some pointed questions based on my medical history, without hesitation, she immediately postponed my appointment without charge. Within minutes of that, I received a phone call from the Reno Veterans Hospital Administration informing me to come to the emergency room as soon as possible. DoctorOwens (sensing something was urgently wrong), and drove me to the emergency room and stayed there until she was relieved by one of her staff. Doctor Owens told me that she or her staff will not leave until I have been seen by the doctor. Doctor Owens went above and beyond the call of duty as a Dentist. I've been seen by numerous dental clinics in the United States and Overseas and none of them have left such an impression on me as Doctor Owens and her Team. I would highly recommend them to my Friends and Family.

Access Dental Care - Terry Song D.D.S
Dr. Song is so down-to-earth and really funny, but also incredibly professional, very thorough, and absolutely all about your best interests. He took the time to explain the work I needed, gave me options to choose from, helped me maximize my insurance max, and helped me form a plan to get everything done based the work priority. His assistant Andrea is so sweet and just as awesome as Dr. Song! I did not feel an ounce of judgement at his clinic! My visit for an evaluation turned into a much needed root canal. Turns out, I also had a pretty bad infection in one of my molars. I had a PAINLESS root canal! Today is the day after the root canal, and there is no pain what-so-ever.Definitely give Access Dental a call. Dr. Song and his team are out of this world amazing. Everyone is so friendly and easy-going. The clinic is incredibly clean, up-to-date, warm, and inviting! This was the best experience at at dental clinic I've ever had. PERIOD.

Regina L Crowley DDS
I have not actually had a visit with this dentist, and I am not rating the dentist but the member of the staff with whom I spoke when I called. I believe her name was Maria. She was pleasant enough at first, but that changed when I asked if it would be possible to only work on a given tooth and avoid having the full set of x-rays which it seems is standard procedure in most dental offices. I have no insurance so obviously must pay as I go, and I don't see the need to x-ray everything in the mouth when there are a couple of teeth broken and needing repairs. I had hoped to at least have a conversation with the dentist about this question but Maria just shut me down when I made this request, which I find to be rude and unwilling to work with me. It's too bad because the dentist herself has good ratings and I would like to have had the chance to work with her.

McElhinney JS
Dr. McElhinney has been my dentist for over 10 years, not only because of the fantastic dental care he has provided me but because he's on the leading edge of technology and education within the industry. Not only does his staff provide great basic care, but he's probably THE leading dentist in Reno in terms of use of technology in his practice (i.e electronic records & investment in new equipment) as well as always reading and attending educational seminars. He's a dental professional in the truest sense of the word. I know some of his patients include those who have had shoddy work done by the discount dental chains that have moved into Reno. And if you've got major dental work or high-end cosmetics that need to be done... you should definitely visit Dr. McElhinney. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a new dentist in Reno.

Regina L Crowley DDS
My husband and I found an advertisement in the funny papers 19 years ago when we moved to Reno. We have followed Dr. Crowley each time her practice changed. Aside from being an excellent doctor, she has a very gentle way about her that makes us very comfortable. She has always been there for us and especially during emergencies. We always leave with a great result- as my husband says " your teeth never looked better". By the way, she also has an inate ability to choose friendly and accommdating support staff who make us feel welcome. They always take the time to know patients, well enough to recognize our voices when we call for help. One visit fell on my wedding anniversary when Ron was out of town, I was greeted that day with a banner across the room wishing me a "Happy Anniversary".

Escobar Family Dentistry
I have been going to Dr. Escobar for over 5 years now, and have never had an unpleasant experience. Quite the contrary, actually. Dr. Escobar himself always greets me with a smile, and makes me feel welcome. He has always had my best interest with my dental care, and even helped me get on the right path when it came to have my wisdom teeth removed. His staff is also very warm and inviting, and they always remember who I am. I would say that his office has this small town charm to it, which I love since I'm originally from Georgia.I would HIGHLY recommend Escobar Family Dentistry to anyone!

Benita K Ng, DDS
Reno area's best source for quality, comfortable dental care..............As a veteran of the DDS chair from many others, Dr. Peri has improved my dental health dramatically where others hadn't. For perspective, this is the first time in my life when I can definitively say, "I DO NOT have a favorite side to chew with!" Dr. P has made incredible improvements with the most comfort ever experienced, and while very fairly priced. Also just as important, he gave me a smile I'm proud to show.Staff is just as impressive, from the Hygienist to the Receptionists. I'll never go elsewhere.

Joe has been my dentist for approx. 28 years and has always done the most professional and competent work of any dentist I've ever had in my life (and I'm 66 yrs of age). He is always up to date on new procedures, practices and equipment. When I've had any major work done he calls me to make sure there are no complications and that everything is alright. I've recommended Joe to quite a few people and they have always come back to tell me how much they like his work. I recommend Joe to anyone looking for the very best dental care available here in Reno.
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future

Just a moment...
