Charlottes Inc
I was appalled at the way my friend and I were treated during a recent trip to Charlotte's in Cameron Village. I have dealt with rude or pretentious shopkeepers before, but this made my blood boil and inspired me to leave poor feedback on a number of websites. I was looking forward to visiting Charlotte's because I had 'liked' them on Facebook but had not been able to visit until recently (10/27/12). As we walked into the store, my friend and I were not greeted, rather given a once over which I assume deemed us unworthy of a gracious welcome. My friend had a jewelry return and was met by an extremely sour counterperson who didn't seem in the least interested in helping her, even though the product she purchased was damaged from the store. I left my friend to conduct her business while I browsed and was met by a young lady associate who was considerably nicer than her co-worker. At this point, I was too uncomfortable to shop so I went back to my friend to wait while she finished. After we had left the shop we exchanged incredulous looks at the way she and I were both treated. It is such a shame that on my first visit I had such a bad experience because the shop is adorable and has a wonderful selection of gifts, jewelry (real and costume), cute boutique clothes, and shoes. However, with the number of boutiques in Raleigh and the nearby area, I don't need to deal with such an upstart attitude from a sales associate.

Paint Co
My house is a multi-story, cedar wood exterior that is more than 25 years old. Don and the Paint Company refurbished and repainted the entire exterior in April 2015. The price was competitive with other bids, and the quality of work was exceptional. More importantly, where damaged sills, door frames, and siding were encountered, his team had a method and process to efficiently and cost effectively deal with these issues without requiring replacement of the entire windows or doors with the damaged frames. The result was that having the Paint Company work on my home was more cost effective than would have been the case with several of his competitors that I investigated prior to having this work completed. I additionally note the fact that his team has worked together with him for an extended time and were both careful with and caring of their work, which aided in the quality of the final result. Don reviewed completion each part of the activity by personal inspect to insure satisfaction.

CMI Jewelry Showroom
I had a wonderful experience searching for, and purchasing, my fiancee's engagement ring at CMI. I worked directly with Kaye; she was very personable and patient with me throughout the whole process. Kaye was good about returning phone calls and updating me during the process. CMI listened to what I was looking for and they were able to quickly (within 3 days) bring in a variety of additional settings and loose diamonds for me to choose from. The diamonds they brought in were perfect given the budget and parameters I provided CMI with. My fiancee's ring was special ordered in platinum and arrived when promised. My fiancee loves her ring and we enjoyed prompt same-day service when the ring needed to be re-sized from 6 1/2 to 5 1/2. At CMI you can expect great value and personable customer service from a trusted and experienced jeweler. I feel the blend of price, service, and quality at CMI is top-notch!

Eric Levinson Painting Contractor
I got proposals from 5 painters and decided on Eric Levinson Painting co. to paint the interior walls in our north Raleigh house. I am glad I did, his prices were reasonable. His painters are for sure American craftsman painters like his website says. We have lived her in Raleigh a long time and have hired several painters over the years. None of them were even close to being as skilled as Eric and his painters are. We are excited out our new look and the home looks better than I could have imagined! I will call Eric from now on when we need painting services. Thank you again, EricBR. Raleigh

Treasure Isle
It is very hard to find a hometown jeweler who is your "go to" for everything under the sun...repairs, purchasing jewelry, watch batteries, and selling old gold. But I do believe I have found such a place- Treaseure Isle Jewelers in North Raleigh. They sized my ring in less than one hour for me and also payed more than some other places did for some broken jewelry that I had. If you want fast, personal, quality service I would defintely recommend stopping in. Everyone was great and very helpful!

Five Star Painting of Raleigh
My experience was fantastic. Bruce was very knowledgeable on all the products Sherwin Williams had to offer. We went over all the sheens and paints and helped me pick the right paint for me and my family. Susie was great at answering all my questions and Chad kept a eye on things while the job was being done. The crew was super nice and friendly and my 3 year old was able to take a nap while the project was being done. I would highly recommend Five Star Painting to anyone in need of painting.

Happy Home Painting
They charge less than anybody. All others cost an arm and a leg to get a room painted. Those guys are the best when it comes to price. You can't beat their price. And the painting job is the best. Just be sure to ask the boss for Sue and Sam to do the painting. What amazing people! They don't waste a minute. They love their job and they do it perfectly. I plan on hiring nobody BUT Sue and Sam and I always go with Happy Home Painting. I am very pleased, deeply impressed.

Happy Home Painting
Happy home has been a good company for us. We use them for our cleaning service. Inevitably, we cause damage from time to time to customers homes while cleaning. They have been spot in as far as being available and capable of doing the job be it a wall paint touch up, electrical work or handyman stuff like resetting a towel rack or curtain rod. I really couldn't ask for a better price too.

Five Star Painting of Raleigh
I left this review on the other Five Star site as I don't think this one is the correct Five Star site. Bruce, Chad and Susie were incredible from the beginning to the end. had a little snag in scheduling but they quickly corrected it and we were back on track in no time. They were quick, clean and super friendly. Thanks again Five Star. I would recommend you to anyone.

Happy Home Painting
I have been doing business with happy homes for several years and have recommended them to several family and friends. They do very professional quality work and will not hesitate to stand by what they do. I would strongly advise that if you are looking for a stand up company give them a call 919-345-7382
Tips & Advices
For a long-lasting paint job, a clean wall is crucial. Ask how they plan to clean your walls, if at all, before getting started. A high-quality company will thoroughly prepare a wall so that the paint will lay smoothly and last a long time.
Yes. A well-established company will have more experience and likely more references for you to reach out to than a new company that's just getting off the ground. Be sure to ask for references so you can speak to former customers about their experience working with the painter. When speaking to these people, ask about:
  • Whether they had issues with the crew
  • If the painters were messy or neat
  • How the paint has held up since the project was completed
The quality of the paint will affect how good the walls look when the project is completed. If your contractor says they plan on using a paint you don't like, feel free to request an alternative.
If the contractor makes a point to train new hires on safety techniques as well as quality standards on the job, you're probably in good hands.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of cases where a painter has stolen items from a home or caused damage to the house or injury to the homeowner. Subcontractors may not be as skilled as employees, and the contractor you're hiring may not have much experience working with them, making them more of a risk. Additionally, ask if the painters are employees or subcontractors, and what the screening or hiring process is like.

Just a moment...
