Crown Roofing
I have a complaint filed with BBB due to a extreme misrepresentation of metal roofing and supplies to roof an area over my garage. After having Bruce with Crown roofing come out, see the job, do his measurements, take half the money down...The order was delivered - and not a single piece long enough to do the job and missing all the "special pieces needed for installation". There is no part of the deal that we shook on, that has actually been dependable or where he kept his word. Further, he shows no remorse for having "stuck it to a single mom who made very clear my financial budget". He has made promises to come pick it up and return the money...none has came to fruition and now he simply refuses to return a phone call. This has been ongoing since May of this year. I would not recommend this company based off of lack of ethics, lack of trustworthiness, lack of honesty, lack of dependability...Nothing less than robbery or thievery. I have a pile of unusable material and out $2000 until BBB helps out. This saddens me to ever provide such negative feedback but consumers need to know who they are dealing with.

Air Cond & Heat By Al Matthews
I have done business the Tom Mathews, Al's father, for years and I expected the same level of customer service from Al as I had gotten from Tom. For routine service that was true; however, when it came to installing a NEW heating and air conditioning system, customer service went down the drain. 1st a permit is NOT required! This I was told by 2 inspectors After the fact which would have saved me $500. The concrete slab the AC was on was destroyed by AL . I was not asked if I wanted to keep the concrete slab or go with some thing else. I had no choice or any information about the electrician Al chose. I have no idea about reviews, cost or back ground. I ended up cursing out bot Al and the electrician to prevent have a WHOLE in my hallway walls The furnace was installed backwards. The smoke detector that Al chose had a lithium battery. Lithium batteries have been known to explode and or catch fire. These particular batteries are made to be used in Europe and can NOT even be thrown in the trash. They have to be treated as as disposed of like hazardous waste. So I now has 3 small holes in hallway walls from a hazardous smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm I did not need. Was I asked what I wanted NO! Will AL Mathews be on my property ever again. Hell NO! and when the warranty expires on the Crap HVAC system AL chose to shove down my throat; I'm getting an other systemLadies think twice about having Al install ANY thing in your home.

Alter EGO
I am beyond excited to have had JEN enter my life! I chose Alter Ego because their reputation is exceptional in the area, and after seeing the same hairstylist for the past 8 years I needed someone that could deliver, and Jen went above and beyond. Working in the aesthetic industry myself I have no room for error when it comes to my appearance, and through the consultation process it was clear that she is a pro. Whether you are a trend-setter, trend-follower, or need to find someone who can just deliver simple and trusted work (if you are conservative), Jen is for you! Invest in yourself and go with Jen Carr at Alter Ego. You may bump into me every two weeks getting my sick fade maintained, or my younger sister who now sees Jen for cut and color, or my mother who is going to let Jen do some style revamping!

Oak City Salon
I recently relocated from New York City and found Oak City Salon via Yelp and was impressed with their wonderful reviews. The salon was so close to work and very easy to access with ample parking. I saw Chuck for my cut and balayage and he was AMAZING!!! He does not double book and spent the whole appointment time conversing with me and letting me know all that Raleigh has to offer. I then made an appointment with Kim for a lash extension fill in and they were simply beautiful! She also spent an overwhelming amount of time with me although I had worn Novalash Lashes for the last three years, I decided to go with a slightly thicker lash than I was wearing and I am OBSESSED!!! Super professional and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Headquarters Hair Salon
Lisa Dean has been cutting my hair for over 35 years. I followed her from a salon in Crabtree, to one off Glenwood Avenue, and finally to her place when she opened her own business,"Headquarters". My daughter discovered Lisa in her Crabtree salon and encouraged me to try her. I have a difficult head of hair to cut due to a cowlick in back along my neck. She handles that beautifully. Over the years, many of my friends have commented on my haircut, how good it looks on me, how well cut it is. I have changed my hair style slightly, with Lisa handling each request for change without a blink of an eye. I would recommend her for anyone--female or male. I would encourage my husband go, except I have cut his hair myself for almost 50 years. When I can no longer cut it, he will go to her! She deserves more than 5 stars!

Dana Dean Roofing Company
I was extremely happy with Dana Dean and found him honest and most professional.I really did my homework on roofers after noticing a leak on our upstairs ceiling. I wanted to get 3 quotes, because roofs are vitally important. I looked on Angie's List, YELP, and other reviews before setting up quotes. Many roofers want to charge to come out, which discourages quotes. Charging for quotes is good for their company, but bad for the consumer. I advise not to consider roofers who charge for estimates. I only considered roofers who offered free quotes.Upon giving a quote, Dana came out by himself (not another worker like the others), and was quite professional. He spent time on my roof. He came back and said it would cost $325 to repair my vent pipe. Other quotes I got were $250, but one roofer didn't have Worker's Comp, and the other didn't show up for an appointment. Dana showed me pictures of rusted nails popping up, uplifted flashing, a shingle up which exposed some wood... all normal wear and tear. He said it wasn't extensive and he could fix all for $625. My gut reaction was to trust him. I hired him, he came quickly and on time, and did good work. I was very pleased. If you're looking for a roofer, I'd STRONGLY suggest DANA DEAN.

Hill, Gene
To start, he was more than half an hour late and did not let me know he would be. Then he tried to get more money out of me by saying a toilet part needed replacing. The part he was referring to was fine before. The worst thing he did was to take $20 from me. When I gave him his money, I told him I overpaid him and asked for the $20 back. As I reached to take the money back, he pulled away and kept it all.

Aspen Contracting, Inc
Our home was damaged by hail early June 2016. After our insurance company accessed the damage, several roofing companies checked out the damage. Aspen Contracting was by far the most professional. The roof is beautiful, the workers were great, our project manager, Mary, did a great job of working with us, and I would have Aspen do any other work for us that we need (don't anticipate having to have more work done, as they did a great job already). And a bonus was they cleaned the gutters and the yard so everything looked so great.

Air Cond & Heat By Al Matthews
Al was quick to respond and Alex did fantastic work explaining the issues and fixing the problem. Pricing was very fair. Thank you!
Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
