This review is for their location on TW Alexander Drive. Manchester's Grill is our favorite restaurant. We had our rehearsal dinner there as well as my daughter's small wedding reception. The food and service is top notch and we never had to ask for anything. Isabel made sure our guests were happy and is our favorite waitress. I would highly recommend it for a family dinner, date night or party.

I’m a born Yankee but have lived in Raleigh for many years. One of the things I miss about living up North is the neighborhood taverns – the places you can go and feel at home, comfortable, appreciated and welcomed. If that’s appealing to you, then the only place to go in Raleigh is Sammy’s Tap & Grill, because it’s all that and more. Let’s start with the food. I’ve been going to Sammy’s since he took over and never have I had a bad meal, whether it’s a quick appetizer or salad, a pizza or burger or the best wings in town, bar none. The menu is impressive and far beyond the typical “bar food” found in so many places around town. Prices are more than reasonable, whether it’s for a rack of incredible, melt-in-your-mouth ribs or a mound of extra crispy wings with one of Sammy’s special sauces. Sammy and his crew go to great lengths to serve food that’s fresh, well prepared and appetizing. And with the variety, you will never be disappointed that you couldn’t find something that wasn’t appealing. If you’re a beer drinker, there’s plenty to choose, from the standards to the exotic, along with a full bar of mixed drinks. Like the food, you can always find something to quench your thirst. Service is prompt, attentive and professional, whether you drop by on a lazy weekday afternoon or come by to be part of the crowd on a football game day Saturday or Sunday. Sure, the place gets crowded sometimes, but with indoor, covered deck and outdoor seating, you can usually find a place either to join the crowd and cheer on your team or have a quiet conversation with a colleague or new-found friend. It’s easy to see that Sammy’s wait staff is well trained and the whole business well managed. They look and act like they are genuinely glad you’re there. Tucked between NC State’s main campus and Centennial, Sammy’s of course attracts a college crowd. But don’t dismiss it as a “college bar” unless you’re talking about faculty, staff, coaches and of course students, along with neighborhood families, office and blue collar workers. Sammy’s is more than just a place to go for good food, good prices and good service. It’s the place to go to be comfortable, appreciated and most of all well-taken care of.

I have been here several times in the past couple of months and I really enjoy the atmosphere. I have found that it is a place where ""everyone knows your name"" and it's a nice change from some of these bigger places like Lynnwood grill (though I do like it there). Its a great place to get some good food and enjoy a laid back pace. I will be back again!

We eat there probably two to three times per month. The food is always good, and even when the restaurant is full, the service is good. Good food, good atmosphere.

Clearly ""worriedman"", you should be more worried about the ""man"" you are not, than the bar. Because Flex is a great place to be! You are either an idiot, or just very young. Life is way too short to be so judgemental. When you are older, or wiser, you will find that the best place to be is where there are all sorts of life. All of the labels that you find so easy to throw around will one day become transparent.\r \r Now! Flex is a great bar for open-minded people who find fulfilment in all different walks of life. Afterall, isn't that what being gay is all about? If you are looking for a place to meet great people, sit and have a drink, or laugh until you wet, you have found it. Flex is where we found it! We are from SC and we will be back. Thanks Flex for a great time!

We won free admission to the saloon this weekend, so it was my first time there. It was alot of fun, the music was awesome from the bands. We saw 2 country music singers that you would normally expect to see at a place like the RBC Center. All the staff were friendly. The drinks were really good. I plan to go back for the mechanical bullriding and free line dancing lessons.\r \r The only bad thing I have to say about the place is the location. Driving out was difficult because it is a one way street. Since I am not a smoker, I wish they didn't allow smoking, but that's typical bar atmosphere.
117 E Hargett St
The Landmark bar itself is beautiful wood, and the mirrors and wood behind the bar make you feel comfortable. The space is long, with lots of bar seats, and also tables for more privacy. The music is never too loud for conversation, and they play the important games on the one flat-screen at the end of the bar (though many times I've seen the TV turned off--which is good!). While smoking is allowed, the smoke fans do a great job of making the place not smell smoky. Plus, when the weather's nice, the doors are open to the patio out back which is really nice (and there are heaters for when it's chilly). Beers on tap are a mix of essentials (PBR!) and microbrews (Big Boss, Bell's, etc). Good selection of bottles, too. Sorry, can't speak for wine selection, but I rarely see anyone drinking wine. The crowd at Landmark is the best part--they're normal people. It's an older crowd than Glenwood South, I'd say 25-40s, so no loud frat boys, but it's also not your grungy dive bar. Professionals and blue-collars alike go to Landmark, so there's always somebody interesting to talk to. Service is also good, especially with the crazy-haired bartender who usually gets your tab right without you having to tell him your name. I do wish the bartenders were a little more attentive to my empty glasses, but I don't really mind having to ask for another beer. I love Landmark!

I go to this bar every time I'm in the area. It reminds me a lot of Nashville and there's always great live music. Every time I've been there the bartenders have been really nice. My favorite thing (besides the live music) is the cheap beer. Regardless of what drink specials they have going on, beer is consistently cold and cheap. My boyfriend loves going there to play pool, so we both end up happy in the end which always makes for a better night.

I have been to Wakefield Tavern about four times now and the first three visits were great. However, my last visit was downright horrible. I am a CCH (Concealed Carry Handgun) holder and I am a LAW ABIDING citizen. I was openly carrying my handgun because it is the only LEGAL way to carry in a restaurant in NC that serves alcohol. There was also NO sign posted at the entrance that prohibitated FIREARMS inside the establishment as well. I ate my dinner and was on my way out the door when I was approached by an employee (not the manager, although she was standing right behind the employee). He asked me if I was a law enforcement officer (I said no because I am not), He then told me the following: "I don't think you are allowed to carry that in here becasue we serve alcohol". I replied "I am LEGALLY ALLOWED to carry as long as I don't consume alcohol" (which I did not, I had a soda). He also said that a customer had complained because I was carrying and that he/she "was taken back when they saw me carrying". He then told me next time to let management know before I eat my dinner. I am not LEGALLY required to inform him that I am carrying. He won't have to worry about it because there won't be a next time. I felt like I was being harassed just because I am exercising my 2nd amendment right. I am a LAW ABIDING citizen and I find it very distasteful that their establishment would show this sort of ignorance to a paying customer who has done nothing wrong. For those of you thinking about eating in this establishment be warned they are a ANTI Constitutinal and ANTI Second Amendment establishment that is completely IGNORANT of the Laws in North Carolina in which they operate.

The staff is really friendly, the food is great, and the prices are totally reasonable. Also, they have TONS of beer on tap. The tavern looks small when you first walk in, but it's actually pretty big. The feel of the place is classically tavern-ish, from creeky wood floors to dim lighting. Also, they don't play loud music, which is nice because you can actually go there to chat with your compatriots. The food is always fresh and they have an interesting menu with Greek and American classics, like grape leaves or a turkey Reuben. Awesome place. Check it out.

Vinos Finos is a wonderful place to have a glass of wine, eat a light dinner, and relax with friends. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, service is excellent, and the owners and employees treat us like family. My husband and I have become regular customers over the past year, and I had a birthday celebration there with about 20 friends. We have finally found a neighborhood cafe that we can meet with friends and not have to talk over loud music and noise. We love Vinos Finos, and always recommend it to our friends!

I have good news for the people of Raleigh who love good food and service, I live down the street from Falls River Town Center. I came upon a restaurant Nantucket Grill & Bar that use to be the Chop House, I never could afford to go there for dinner. I walked in and met the owner we had a long conversation about good restaurants in Raleigh, I told him I normally save up and go to Cary to Ruth Chris Restaurant, but it is a bit far to go to dinner and costly. He invited me to come back for dinner and try there prime rib, so I made reservations for that Saturday for 7 guest at 6:00, well he was right. my family are very picky eaters, the bread and cinnamon butter was absolutely out of this world, appetizers wonderful, prime rib perfect, fish outstanding, the wine prices for a bottle was unbelievable, but then they give you that's right on Saturdays you get a free slice of mile high cake per person, I should not tell you this I won't be able to get in, well the bill came and I almost kissed our server, I was in shock at the cost it was half the price we normally pay for a party of seven. I met the Chef he's very caring about what he creates and they also have daily specials go on line to www.nantucketgril.com. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I have always liked Brickhouse/Playmakers but Saturday night was a bummer. Packed as usual and had to wait for a table. When a table opened up my buddy and I sat down and waited for the table to be cleared. We sat in front of the main bar and had a middle aged waitress who never waited on us. Empty glasses and the tip just sat there for 20 minutes(thru the whole Hughes vs. Gracie mactch). The waitress had no problem taking care of the college kids seated next to us who just sat down. She even made eye contact with us through the whole fight. When she finally came to our table to get the tip the first thing she said was, ""There is a $30 minimum to sit at the table"". I'm 38 and have a nice job. I would have spent much more than $30 but there was no way we were going to give her a tip so we ate elsewhere. We even had to go to the bar to get our own beers. I like the old format at Playmakers cause the middle aged waitress was the worst. Does she want to earn money? Get new help and I might come back. I just had to let the ownership know.\r Would have given 5 stars but could not.

I've been hitting Slim's off and on for two years now, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a more relaxed, unpretentious bar in Raleigh. If you're not into whatever band is playing, you can hang out on the back patio or head upstairs to shoot pool. The bartenders and regulars are friendly, too. Note: If you can't handle smoke, stay away.

First off let me say that this is a fantastic restaurant and I never would of expected such from Hillsborough st. My boyfriend and I went with a large group last night and sat in there extended private dinning room, we were greeted by a nice hostess and a great server. I LOVED the drink list and beers on draft there, what a great diverse selection, I fell in love with their season beer. The server pointed me in the way of the pork chop and said it had been a favorite of his for years, let me say....what a pork chop. My boyfriend had the hanger steak and it was great as well. The server was really nice and very informative about the menu, when we asked for all separate checks, he said no problem and came back with all of them in minutes. Sadly to say that this doesn't happen at most places I go. I highly recommend this place, I'll definitely be back. TRY THE PORK CHOP!!!!!

Humble Pie (HP) leaves the most opinionated foodie…..humbled. This place has won my blue ribbon for favorite restaurant in Raleigh. I have visited HP twice now and both times has been superior culinary experiences. Their plates are visually and tastefully brilliant.\r \r My first visit was a late week night during the “brown bag” period of alcohol licensure. Some may be dissuaded from entering, but I felt the way the HP folks handled this set-back was charming. They actually gave a dinner-mate a complimentary local beer. For starts we all shared: Caesar Salad: cliché but good, “Broiled Tetilla Cheese” Tasty cheese/honey/grape spread and the popular hummus which 3 out of 3 diners disliked. Entrees ordered: Shrimp&Grits: safe and good, Oven Mahi Mahi: fish that’s not fishy: yes, please and the Grilled Andouille Sausage: cowboy-esque robust dish, tasty! Dessert: Peanut Butter & Jelly Bread Pudding: sounds silly – but was well worth the try.\r \r Round two was just as unique & flavorsome. Starters included the Fried Green Tomatoes & Bruschetta: both seem cliché’ but HP’s versions are uniquely delicious. Entrees included: Black Bean Crepe: inventive concept that works – the table’s favorite. The sesame ahi tuna: must like spice to enjoy this treat, and lastly, chicken penne: which looked like a lean cuisine, so I passed.\r \r I really enjoy this restaurant – I’d avoid the hummus & chicken penne – but the entire menu is a safe (but delectable) bet you’re going to have a great meal. I’m looking forward to warmer temperatures to try the patio space & beverages.

I really enjoy going to Napper Tandy's. The bartenders (Kelly, Rich and others) are awesome, the food is wonderful, and I really like the Irish band that plays there from 7-9 most Friday nights. This band's songs and insights have encouraged me to cherish my Irish heritage.

This is a great neighborhood dive, if you're into laid-back / blue collar bars. (If you're a yuppie, try the Ugly Monkey downtown, not the Goat.) It's small, the bartenders are personable & friendly (as are the patrons, most of the time), and the drink prices are good. A very diverse crowd, ethnically, economically, and age-wise: afternoons are an older after-work crowd, evenings and late nights bring out a younger crowd. Although it's close to NCSU, it's not much of a student hangout. It's mostly just locals from the neighborhood surrounding the Goat. So if you're just stopping in for the first time, you may not get its appeal ... come back, hang out, meet some of the locals.\r The main downside - be prepared to smell like cigarette smoke afterward!
