We are extremely happy with our new Ameriglide stair riser. My husband was unsteady on stairs with a cane, so for his safety, he is now using the lift and not having pain from trying to walk up and down.Roger was most informative and the installer did a great job as well.What a blessing this is for us!

This is the absolute worst place I have ever been. I have a large open wound on my leg that they "treated". They soaked a gauze roll in a bleach solution and told me to go home and do this to myself twice a day. I called four or five times and told them that I was in excruciating pain and was told to take Advil! I went to an Urgent Care the next day and they gave me Codeine and said not to put the bleach solution on it. The next day I was in the Emergency room with a leg that looked like chopped meat. I have not been able to put weight on my leg in over a week. I would not go to this place if they paid me. Horrible. My advice is to STAY AWAY unless you like to be in agony.

We had the unit installed so our 84 year old mother could stay with us in our new home. Eddie came and installed the unit in about 2 hours. Mom loves it and makes her visit a great experience. We highly recommend Ameriglide.

I want to thank Darrius and Eddie for the fast delivery and installation of a stair lift for my parents in Raleigh. We visited with Darrius in the store on Atlantic Ave. and he helped up pick out the best solution for my parents home and Eddie Williams installed it for them the next day. It works perfectly and we now feel safe with Mom and Dad accessing their upstairs bedroom which had been "off limits" for some time. They love being able to use their upstairs master bedroom instead of the downstair guest room. In addition, Darrius took the time to do a complete review of my parents home and we now understand all the options they have to modify their home so they can age in place. Great prices and excellent service are hard to come by these days. I can highly recommend Ameriglide as a source for home accessibility equipment.

Now Hear This
I procrastinated in getting hearing aids for years. I suspect my ability to hear higher ranges, such as female voices, children and natural sounds resulted from too much shotgunning over the years. Anyway, my family, especially the grand girls, said it was time to get them. After much research, I landed in the office of Dr. Griffin and his assistant, Dawn. He was extremely professional in testing my hearing and explaining the type of aid I needed. His choice seems to be perfect for I am now able to hear better than my wife. She is the one who is turning up the volume on the tv. I can not be happier with the service I have received, the digital quality of the aids I have and the cost for all of it (which includes 2 years of free office visits and batteries).

The facility is nice and clean BUT, don't expect to be seen on time when you are on time. People can come after you and if your schedule time is prior to them they can and will be seen before you. It has happened to me twice and I drive 45 minutes to get there. Not only are you ignored but they act as if it's OK to do so. I can understand if the equipment is malfunctioning or if I'm late but to act as if my time is not important is totally UNACCEPTABLE. I should have selected a closer facility that believes in what's best for the patient especially when it's not cheap~!~.

REX Urgent Care of Wakefield
I give them a zero. They are the worst urgent care I have ever been to. A little over a year ago I went in because I had swelling above my left eye that hurt extremely bad. They told me they thought it was a tumor and to go to the E.R. At the E.R. they ran an MRI and it turned out it was just a clogged sinus. They gave me antibiotics and something for pain. Today I went back in for the same problem and they gave me prednisone. No antibiotic, nothing for pain. They said they can't give me another antibiotic because I just got off one when I know for a fact they can, it just can't be the same one. I know this because my daughter JUST had to go on a second round of antibiotics due to a resistant bacterial ear infection. They told me the antibiotic I was on probably cleared it up. Do they not realize not every bacteria is cleared by one antibiotic? They are also very rude. The first time I went they insulted my girlfriend. The second time I went the nurse told me I should hang up on my girlfriend when my girlfriend got mad because they wouldn't prescribe me an antibiotic for a sinus infection.

My elderly father needed an oxygen concentrator to take with him on my parents' trip to Europe. The representative brought over an enormous unit on wheels with four very large additional lithium-ion batteries that altogether weighed around 30 pounds. My parents could not even carry it all; fortunately I was going with them and served as the pack mule. The representative took $450 which we were led to believe included a deposit, and we headed for the airport. The concentrator never worked right. It pumped as long as it was plugged in but the batteries never held their charge for more than a matter of minutes, even though they were supposed to charge while the unit was plugged in. My father had to do without it for most of the airplane flight, and could not take it with him anytime we left the hotel. Worse, when we returned and complained, the representative told us that indeed the unit was broken, but since we had actually taken the unit with us, we still owed the full $450 -- only then did we discover that this amount was not a deposit, but rather the full rental cost, for just six days! My parents were quite upset, and the representative offered to refund $250. So we were charged $200 for the use of a unit that did not work properly, that we could not use, and which nearly gave me a hernia lugging on and off of aircraft.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
