Steve's Intermountain Service
With only a few miles left on our big move day from California to Utah, the front end of our '89 Mazda gave out. We managed to roll into my daughter-and-son-in-law's appartment parking lot and that was it. Mazda wouldn't move. Called AAA. They towed me to Steve's Intermountain Service. Thought I was going to get hit up for serval hundred - if not a thousand or more - dollars in repairs because the right front portio of the car sounded as if something broke loose and did serious additional damage. Steve charged me $70. Said a bolt came loose and a part got stuck up against the wheel, no damage. I've been taking my cars to him ever since and he and his mechanics have done a lot of work on them (we keep our cars forever) for a very reasonable price. With a shop like Steve's, you don't have to buy a new car because he can fix them for a lot less than it would take to replace them.Highly recommended. Not the easiest place to find, but well worth the effort. He has a great little office, too, where you can plug in a laptop or netbook and get some work done while you wait.

1st Choice Auto Repair
I have always been very impressed with the dedication to quality, service and price at First Choice Auto Repair. There have been several times that I've taken my car in thinking that I have a serious problem and it turns out to be something insignificant. They quickly fix it and Paul, the proprietor, doesn't charge me a dime. I have never been over sold at First Choice. It seems to me like they just enjoy working on cars and the business of making money comes second. I have trusted them for years and through 4 cars.I'll often call Paul at First Choice and ask his advice on work that needs to be done, like recently replacing my brake rotors, and he often tells me that its something easy that I could do in my garage. My whole family and my wife's family are now loyal customers. We all tout how nice it is to finally find a mechanic we can trust to be our "go to guy."

Steve's Intermountain Service
I would have to offer a similar review to those that have been placed, though I think the others may be a little bit harsh. Steve is an absolutely GREAT guy. Incredibly personable, and was very quick in getting the job done; however, we were broken down and the car was taken directly there (because of AAA). After speaking with several other locations, it was a scenario where we would have to pay several hundred dollars to just get an estimate from elsewhere, so we went with Steve's to be safe, only to find out later that he charged more than even the dealer. He offer's mailed discounts to return; but, was not flexible during our initial visit (especially after considering how costly it ended up being). He's a wonderful guy, but I highly doubt we will ever return---I would go to the dealer first.

Platinum Auto Sales
This dealership is awesome. After dealing with pushy dealers and getting nowhere near my price range for a decent car, we were about to give up. Then we decided to try this smaller dealership, and we loved the nature of their business. We were able to test drive vehicles WITHOUT a salesman in the car. This helps us to be honest about what we like and don't like. When it came to price, we got a great deal, under book value, with a warranty (checked with Hyundai before purchase) and didn't pay massive amounts of doc fees. Staff is friendly and Juan is a great guy! He was very honest with us. There was a pretty big scratch on the back bumper that they fixed and didn't charge us before we bought the car. Overall A+++ we will be back

S & R Auto
Josh is not only a great mechanic but a great and honest man. I had lights on my dash board. Took my Honda to him. He kept it for an hour & wasn't sure. Cleared the alerts and asked me to bring it back when they came back on. I did that, he not only fixed it but he explained everything to me. After he showed me the part and show me what was wrong with them. As a single woman I truly appreciated that. Stopped by today and he checked my transmission fluid for me. I'm to short to reach it. I will always go to Josh when I need assistance with my car. May even buy my next car from him. At least I'll know he can fix it for me. Thank Josh you're awesome!!

Honest-1 Auto Care
I gotta admit I'm a little hesitant when an auto shop has to put "Honest" in their business name but this shop is really great. It's a family owned business and I found them to be genuinely nice and authentic. They even stayed a little past closing hours on a Saturday to get me in for a safety and emissions inspection. And I love their on the spot renewal so I don't have to go to the DMV. Also love the clean bathrooms and spacious waiting room with really comfy leather seats. Would definitely recommend them.

Japanese Auto Repair
Took my 2001 Honda Prelude in for a new clutch and some general maintenance,tune-up and timing belt, and these guys have earned me as a customer for life. they were very upfront and honest, and definitely had my back during the whole process. I paid exactly what was quoted, and they really went above and beyond in their quality of work. if you are looking for an honest, hardworking mechanic shop look no further. Very satisfied. Good customer service. Highly recommended.

Honest-1 Auto Care
Honest One, Thank you so very much for checking my charging system for free when I thought the starter was bad, and for letting me know my battery was bad. I especially appreciate you waiving the diagnostic fee for me. I have been unable to work the last few months due to health problems and surgeries, so with me being with no money it truly meant the world to me right now. I sincerely appreciate all the hard work you do and will recommend you to friends and family.

Naylor Auto
I never thought it would be possible to have fun buying a car, but Naylor made it that way because their business model is completely opposite from what you typically think of when hearing "used car sales." Their inventory is limited, but if you have something in mind, they can keep an eye out at auctions. The thing I loved most was that when we sat down and talked details, we knew exactly what was going on in terms of the money exchange.

Hoffmann Auto Repair
I've been here twice, both times for the AC (two different cars). The first time, he did a very extensive diagnostic and then didn't charge me when I decided not to fix it (too expensive, I just got a new car), the second time he stayed late to finish in order to deal with my crazy schedule. EXCELLENT customer service. He also seems to really know his stuff and the prices seem reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Tips & Advices
Depending on the part and its overall quality, a good amount of money can be saved by purchasing aftermarket parts versus OEM parts. But aftermarket parts that are low in price might also be lower in quality and could do more harm than good to your car, or they may need to be replaced more frequently than a more expensive counterpart. This could lead to saving some money in the short term, but spending more than anticipated in the long term.
The type of tires being purchased is the most significant determinant of their price. SUV tires are more costly than average car tires. And high-performance tires are more costly than economy grade tires. On average, standard tires for an average-sized vehicle are around $100 per tire. Standard tires for an SUV are around $150 and pick-up truck tires are about $200 on average. Some dealers offer discounts if purchasing more than one tire.
Car inspections typically take about an hour. However the wait time can be longer depending on how busy the shop is. Call ahead for an appointment to avoid long wait times.
Depending on the manufacturer, certain aftermarket parts can be just as reliable as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. But one item within a vehicle, like oil filters for instance, could have multiple manufacturers and there could be inconsistencies in quality among them.
Costs of replacing a windshield can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors:
  • Vehicle make and model
  • How much of the cost insurance will cover
  • Whether the windshield installers come to your location or you bring the vehicle to them
  • Standard service costs of the windshield installers
Generally, newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
