8 Hearts Health & Wellness
I have seen Dr. Kassam for several visits and feel compelled to share a bit of my experience. I went to Dr. Kassam for my general health. She asked very specific questions and narrowed in on my sleeping pattern. I’d lived with my insomnia for so long that it became normal to me. I wasn’t even going to bring it up because I just had accepted my waking up nightly for a couple of hours or more and hadn’t really thought of seeking treatment. I had tried sleeping pills in the past, but the side effects were worse than feeling tired all the time. Dr. Kassam attributed my sleeping disorder to anxiety and gave me a sample of four supplements to try out and told me if they did not work within the four days; they were not the correct supplement. They worked immediately, so now I take one pill at bedtime and sleep through the night – every night now! This has transformed my life and there have been no side effects. I also really appreciate the fact that Dr. Kassam is conservative about prescribing supplementation. I am sensitive to taking so many supplements and I get to the point that I can’t stand swallowing the pills. I’ve had other naturopathic physicians prescribe too many pills and it ends up being too expensive and you can’t even tell what’s really working or not. Dr. Kassam is working with me to narrow down my supplementation to make it simple and affordable. Dr. Kassam has cured me of an infection so I didn’t have to take antibiotics again, which was re-occurring and I was concerned it would become antibiotic resistant. The experience that I am having with Dr. Kassam has been the best experience I have ever had with any doctor.

Hosmer Chiropractic Health
As an elite cyclist competing at the top professional level nationally, having a good working, healthy body is the most important thing for me. Dr. Hosmer understands the needs and rigors of elite athletes and his expertise and talent has corrected joint and body issues for me. He gets me back to training and racing the right way. He always takes the time to show me exercises to do at home to keep my body happy! Not only has Dr. Hosmer helped me at key moments, but I also receive coaching and bike fitting through HCH. I was hesitant about getting a coach since I really LOVE riding bikes and I came into racing from a car-free, bike-centric lifestyle and I thought having a coach and structure might take the fun away from bikes. I'm very pleased to have been proven wrong this time :) I've been training under Josh Liberles for over a year now and my progress has been remarkable. Josh's coaching is very thoughtful and personal, he took the time to understand me and the way I ride and makes structured training a ton of fun! Last season I won a SPRINT for the first time ever, something I would have never even thought I could attempt before. This season I am racing a pretty full NRC schedule with top level teams and Josh always has me fit and ready to perform. I would be lost and probably suck without these dudes and gals, so stoked to have HCH in my corner. Really top notch, professional, and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work!

I am a 40 something mother of 4 kids and was tired ALL OF THE TIME. When 3pm rolled around I was watching the clock for bedtime but so still tired in the morning even though I'd had over 8 hours of sleep. My quality of life was terrible. At first I worked at my symptoms utilizing the knowledge I have gleaned over the years about diet and exercise and getting enough rest and drinking enough water. I eliminated caffeine, alcohol and sugar. I did feel a little better after all of these positive changes (after the withdrawls of course) but I was still so tired! I thought perhaps I had chronic fatigue syndrome or perhaps it was my thyroid? So I went to Tanya to seek her advice. She put me through a very thorough gamut of tests and determined that my thyroid was healthy but my adrenal glands were tapped. In addition, I had some food allergies I was completely unaware of. After making the adjustments to my diet and my lifestyle (she prescribed at least 5 min of complete quiet time) I was a new woman! My friends and colleagues all remarked about the change in my demeanor and my attitude. I seriously feel that Tanya saved my life and am very grateful to her for being patient, thorough and understanding. It's so lovely to be back on top of things again. Thank you Tanya!

Hosmer Chiropractic Health
I first visited Dr. Hosmer about four months ago after having a minor rib injury. After being treated for that, I continued to see him to work on back pain that had been developing for the past year. What I like best about his approach is that it doesn't treat chiropractic medicine as some magic spell that will instantly cure all your problems. It seems like most of those types of chiropractors manipulate (no pun intended) their patients into coming back for weekly treatments whether they need them or not. Dr. Hosmer, on the other hand, has given me tools and exercises to manage my health at home so that now we only need to meet every 3-4 weeks for follow up. He's also given me some good advice to help prevent the recurrence of back pain in my work environment. I've enjoyed working with his assistants, as well, as they've showed my new back stretches and exercises. And Jessica at the front desk is always a welcoming presence in person or on the phone. Also, I've gotten a couple of therapeutic massages from Kyra that were amazing. She was able to hone in on the trigger points and really work them out. Overall, I've been really pleased with my treatment at Hosmer Chiropractic Health--everyone there really seems to care about the patients and it shows.

The Waldorf Center For Plastic Surgery
I cannot express my gratitude towards the staff and my surgeon Dr. Waldorf nearly enough. I was treated extremely well from the moment I walked into their office up until now(9 weeks post op) I was really scared having plastic surgery done and when I met with Dr. Waldorf, she calmed my nerves. I was treated with dignity and respect from everyone. I recently lost 150 pounds and had an abdominaloplasty done. Dr. Waldorf did amazing work and I had ZERO complications from it. They don't just throw you away after your surgery is done. If you have a question or concern, you are always encouraged to call them and they take care of you. My life has changed so much after having my excess skin removed. I have finally found the freedom to be myself. I highly recommend the Waldorf center to anyone! I would personally love to talk with anyone who is thinking of going through skin removal themselves and share my personal experience with them. YOU are in control over your life and YOU can conquer anything you set your mind too! My journey isn't over yet, but I'm getting closer each and everyday. The Waldorf Center has had a huge hand in helping me restore my confidence again and I am forever grateful to Dr. Waldorf.

8 Hearts Health & Wellness
Phenomenal care! My husband and I both went to see Dr. Natasha for very different medical concerns (his=high cholesterol, mine=general health). From the very first appointment, we could tell that Dr. Natasha would be an amazing partner in transforming our health. She has recommended a fairly vigorous diet plan for both of us and has assured us that she will support us through every step of this process to make sure we stick to the plan. We need to find our wellness - I’m not sure we even know what that looks like at the moment. Dr. Natasha is even helping us with menu planning and is having us take supplements for now to get our health where it needs to be. With the diet changes, we should be able to cut back on or eliminate the supplements because our bodies will be functioning well on their own, which is completely amazing to me! We have been to another naturopath here in Portland, but the service we are getting from Dr. Natasha doesn’t even compare to our previous experience. We are so glad we have Dr. Natasha with us on this journey.
8 Hearts Health & Wellness
I was blown away by my experience with Dr. Natasha Kassam at 8 Hearts. She exudes health and vitality, and is so compassionate and tuned-in to her patients. September was a particularly difficult month for me physically and emotionally. I went to see Dr. Kassam hoping to balance and detox both my body and mind. I did a hydrotherapy treatment which was exactly what I needed! I greatly appreciated how Dr. Kasaam explained everything step by step to ensure my comfort. I left the clinic feeling amazing.I am a massage therapist and often refer my clients to Dr. Kassam for additional support with their health. Without fail, they have wonderful experiences, too. I love knowing that they are going to receive outstanding care when I refer them to 8 Hearts. An added bonus is that the clinic itself is absolutely beautiful with easy parking. It feels like a cross between a doctor's office, and a spa. An all-around healing place to be!

I'm so glad I listened to a fellow Mom and took my son to Dr Hudson. I have since referred a few others to her. My 9 yr old son was suffering from anxiety, lack of focus, and sadness. His dyslexia had him slipping in school and his grumpy attitude made it tough to help him. He often felt overwhelmed and had repeated thoughts racing in his head. His mood swings were up and down. Upon our first trip to Dr Hudson, she tested for food allergies, vitamin deficiencies and even neurotransmitters in his brain with a simple urine test. The testing showed he needed some lacking vitamins/minerals and a neurotransmitter booster. ALL natural! She helped us with his diet and keeping his blood sugar level with frequent protein. His results have been amazing and an answer to many prayers. It's a real blessing to have Dr Hudson in our area!

8 Hearts Health & Wellness
My first experience at 8 Hearts Health & Wellness was a hydrotherapy treatment with Dr. Natasha Kassam. Dr. Natasha is one of those rare gems in the healthcare world: an attentive, highly skilled, kindhearted natural healer. I had never tried hydrotherapy before, but I received plenty of information about what to expect before the appointment. Throughout the entire session, I felt utterly relaxed and cared for, and afterwards, my body felt better than it had in months! I would highly recommend 8 Hearts and Dr. Kassam to anyone who is looking for natural health care that makes them feel like they are a real person rather than just another name in the system. Natasha is a gem and her clinic is a breath of fresh air!

Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
