Home At Last
1815 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232
General InfoIt's a comfortable chair on a cold winter's night, the calm that's found in soft morning light. It's setting a table for family and friend, a creak in the floor you've been meaning to mend. It's brushing on color that warms a room, the bulbs you planted beginning to bloom. It's sleeping in late and cuddling close, just being where you want to be most. Home is that place, with meanings so vast, we all long to be, relaxing at last.

I've been in the store a few times and love the selection of furnishings, but the last 3 times I've tried to shop (and been ready to buy) they are closed at 4:40, 4:30 and today 4:20! No posted hours on the door and I can't get there any earlier after work. I give up!
We sure enjoy shopping at Su Castillo! Each visit is a pleasant experience in a no-pressure sales environment amid comfortable surroundings. We particularly enjoy the plush seating areas throughout the store, which offer us a chance to relax and take in the beauty of the extensive decor pieces. Each display area is beautifully appointed. Dan's business offers traditional and unique furniture and decor items that appeal to mainstream consumers as well as high-end buyers. In addition, Dan's home styling talents are such an incredible gift! He truly cares about helping each customer create an ambience that meets their goals. Time flies during consultations with Dan, as he has a such knowledge in the field and offers so many options! The times Aurora has helped us have been productive, as well. She is such a delight, and quite patient in making sure we take the time to come up with just the right item. Whenever friends mention they are in the market for pieces for their home, we encourage them to make a trip to Su Castillo. Even if they leave without making a purchase (an oddity, to be sure) they will be glad they stopped by to add Dan and Aurora to their circle of friends.
My husband and I ran across Su Castillo by accident after a lovely dinner at a cafe just up the street. As we walked into the shop I knew instantly that we had found a gem. Dan ( the owner ) was personable, not pushy and alot of fun. We spent a great deal of time browsing and purchased the most unique pillow that I had ever seen. As we left, I said to me husband that this would be the place to come after our home was finishesd being built to buy our new furniture. Dan's taste is exceptional. Every detail in the store is beautiful and creative. Shortly after visiting Su Castillo we started designing and then building our dream home which turned out to be a very exausting and difficult two years. Temporarily forgetting about Su Castillo I started searching every furniture store in Portland, Beaverton, Tigard and even Vancouver to furnish our beautiful home. I found either cheap junk or very expensive furniture that I could not justify paying the exorbitant price. I was almost ready to give up when I remembered Dan, at Su Castillo. I went to see him that day. Su Castillo ended up furnishing my entire home with gorgeous furniture, lamps and accesories all at an affordable cost. You can have luxery without the price! Dan knew the feeling that I was trying to get. He really listened, and was very patient with me. He knew exactly what to do. It was such a fun experience. Dan really went the extra mile and I will always be grateful. Everyone that visits my home coments on how beautiful it is. I make a point of visiting Dan on a regular basis. I always find something new that I can't live without. You will love Su Castillo, Dan and Aurora. ( his sales associate ) They instantly make you feel right at home and brighten even your dreariest day.
If there is one talent I possess it is to somehow find the best of the best. I am a long time shopper and have really made a study of it. Su Castillo Home Styling is at the top of my list for an all around wonderful shopping experience. The owner Dan is a delight and quickly becomes a friend. He has a particular talent of finding the most unique and expensive looking gifts and home decor at very attractive prices. I seem to want everything I see as I go through the store.
Su Castillo Home is very set apart in that you will not see his merchandise duplicated all over town the way so many of the Portland retailers tend to do, that is why I love to shop for friends there. They always want to know where I am finding such great gifts.
There are many gift and home accessory stores around but not many that you could call a specialty store. I see Su Castillo as a specialty store because of his unique taste, fabrics to die for from table cloths to furniture, pillows, lamps that you won't see anywhere else all the things that you would expect to go through a designer for are there for the taking or to be ordered with Dan's help I always learn something when talking to Dan the owner about design and details. It is nice to be able to feel welcome in a store and also be allowed to feel free to just enjoy the experience and take it all in.
I highly recommend Su Castillo. I always tell friends how to get there and how wonderful it is and to say Hi to Dan. I know they will love it and have a great time. Definitely a feel good store.
I originally went into Su Castillo on a friend's recommendation and her saying ""it will be your favorite place to shop""; that was an understatement!! I've been shopping at Su Castillo for approximately 3 years. I furnished my new home with a selection of their furniture and accessories . Dan Brungardt's (the owner) expertise was instrumental in my selection of furniture, fabrics, area rugs and accessories; he spent many hours helping me, to make sure it was exactly as I wanted. Su Castillo carries many furniture lines which are reasonably priced, great quality, unique and ever-changing. You will be delighted with the large selection of accessories and gift items; great for the last minute gift giver. :o) There is always a great selection of music playing softly in the background and candles burning, which give a warm and inviting atmosphere while browsing. Aurora (Dan's sales associate) and Dan are eager to help you with your selection(s), answer questions, or, just let you browse, if that is your wish. I not only love going into the shop to see all the new and wonderful selection of furniture and accessories, but also eager to visit with Dan and Aurora, who are always friendly, warm and make you feel at home.
I am consistently impressed each time I visit -- the store is beautiful and ever-changing. It's obvious that Dan (the owner) takes great pride in his shop. Dan is friendly, approachable, knowledgable and funny! It's a treat to visit with him while I shop. The prices are more than reasonable -- I've seen similar merchandise (but lower quality) at other shops for 3 times the price! An added bonus is that the store is locally-owned; I can feel good about shopping and supporting local business.
Su Castillo carries multiple furniture lines and has something for everyone: traditional, transitional, contemporary or something in between. The lamp selection (floor lamps, table lamps, bedside lamps, buffet lamps, etc.) is amazing, too. If you're in the market for furniture, lamps, rugs or accessories for your home you should *definitely* visit Dan at Su Castillo.
