Glad I found this place. I had been encouraged to try the food by a friend. I mapped the location and I actually drove by it as the Google maps directions had me driving by the actual location. It is next to the OnPoint Credit Union on Capitol Hwy. Great outdoor seating. Great food. I will be back!

Absolutely love the Zuppa Toscana and Breadsticks!! ^_^ Oh, and the Berry Aqua Fresco. BUT, it's disappointing that they no longer have Chocolate Gelato. *tear* Other than that, this is one of the places I often visit!!

I grew up eating at this Round Table and have continued to this day some 20+ years later. The food is always great and the prices are reasonable if you have a coupon(they give a discount for competitor coupons too). They have a HUGE salad bar that is all you can eat. For pizza I recommend their King Arthur Supreme or the Italian Garlic Supreme. If you show up before 3pm they also have some good deals on lunch specials.

What a great restaurant! The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely as delicious as it gets -- not pretentious, but special and very satisfying. I'm not much of a dessert eater, but I was blown away by the chocolate torte. My strongest recommendation for a great weekday meal, or a place to go for the most special of occasions. I'll be back!

We stayed at a B & B down the street from this place. This place was great! Scratch made Ravioli, pastas, lasagna, etc. Megan was our Server. She was awesome at making menu suggestions! I had the butternut squash Ravioli with a pint of their seasonal on tap. Great job, folks!

It was a rainy, cold and windy night when my husband and I dropped into the bar at Pazzo. We walked several blocks to get there so when the warm air surrounded us upon arrival, we knew we would be comfortable. The mood was mellow and relaxed. We found a nice cozy table with a view of the street. The room was dimly lit; so it was easy to look outside at the stormy weather as people passed by. We laughed as we saw a guy walk by with an umbrella completely inside-out. But he kept walking along as if he had no idea that his cover had been compromised... It's a great-place to people watch!! Additionally, we had two delicious meals, great wine and fantastic service. Jackie was our server; she had great menu and wine suggestions. The Natalino salad (or Ceasar) was fresh and flavorful with long 'spears' of romaine. I had the Gnocchi (which was more food than I expected), it was a rich savory dish which paired nicely with the Paul Dolan Zinfandel. My husband had the Pollo; a pan roasted chicken breast --it was very flavorful with a wonderfully crunchy skin. After dinner we were tempted with spirits and gelato (there's a pisatachio gelato dessert that is quite yummy). Plus the bar tender's recommendation; the Germain-Robin alambic brandy is well worth trying. We look forward to our next visit.

I am delinquent in not having posted comments glorifying La Buca before now. If you have not been there, I will try to express just what you have been missing. The usual lineup of Italian style dining options leaves a choice of spending $25 or less at a chain type (or American/Italian like Denicolas) restaurant, or considerably more at a fancy independent eatery. Rather than recommend dishes that I like at La Buca, I suggest that you check out the menu (and prices) on line and view the well described offerings for yourself (salads from under $4 to $7 - Pasta dishes from $6 to $9) or go crazy and throw down some serious cash ( $10 to $15 !) for a deluxe entree or one of the featured specials. The regular menu is based on a number of salads, panini sandwiches and pasta dishes (all well prepared and well priced) PLUS ! options to add veggies, chicken, prawns or salmon for a very modest additional charge. La Buca has a very comfortable and casual yet sleek ambiance, while the bar offers an intimate setting perfect for say, a ""first date"". In my opinion, no better bang for the buck anywhere in town.

I've been to just about every Italian joint between the Pearl and the East side, and finally I found a place that serves real Italian comfort food. We had the wild mushroom fettucine, the seafood risotto and the linguini and clams, plus a flatbread with homemade finnochiona and the gnocchi. All was amazing. So pleased, full with out being uncomfortable and the bill was pretty kind two. With tip, it was right at $150, and we had two bottles of good wine. Both were awesome and reasonably priced, and the list is packed with lots of inexpensive selections. Cute, cozy and relaxing. Thanks, Portofino, you made a tough week far more bearable.

This is one of my favorites. I go here for all my hot dates and special events :) The mussels are my favorite. I always order the bread/olive oil, and their martinis are very good. Dirty, of course. The wait staff is knowledgeable and diligent, and good-natured despite me stumbling out drunk a couple times. The atmosphere is intimate and sexy - a cozy Mediterranean delight!

I absolutely love this restaurant. Been there about 4 times over the past 4 months. Everything I've had has been so good and so tasty, its my Italian place of choice. They have had unique daily specials everytime I went, two of the times I've been there I had the special, it sounded so good! The menu always sounds so good too, its always hard to decide. I agree with previous reviews, this place is different, they are fresh, they are delicious. Real food, so good. Fresh pasta from scratch! Thats rarer then you think. Lots of choices too, last time I went I had a choice of 3 menus: the bar menu, happy hour menu and the dinner menu. The bar menu seemed more tailored to classic bar/american italian, what your looking for in bar food. The happy hour was similiar to the bar menu as far as the style of food, but with just really cheap prices. The dinner menu is where the authentic italian come out, elegant food, rich flavors. I've only had items from the dinner menu, because they always sound so good. One of the times I went, a friend had the margarita pizza, which I believe was from either the bar or happy hour menu, and they loved it, so I'm sure everything that comes out of that kitchen is fantastic, no matter what menu. I'm getting hungry...

De Nicola's is a warm and welcoming space, redolent with the aroma of so many dishes being enjoyed by diners. I started with the vegetable soup, chunks of vegetables in a savory broth. The cheese bread was fresh, tender, and had far more cheese than I ever expected. Then the chicken parmigiana arrived under a tangy thick simmered sauce. The servings are enormous, easily enough for 3 people. Our server was attentive and I met the owner who stopped to chat with us. I will be returning!

Chris, the owner is very nice and will always go over things with you on the phone if it is an easy fix. Chris has managed to keep up with all of our 5 stores, making sure our registers function properly. I appreciate all the efforts and hard work. Chris takes her Job very serious and meets deadlines. The food was absolutely amazing....AMAZING. Everything melted in my mouth and tickled the tastebuds. The calamari was unbelievable. The wine was reasonably priced and when we finished our bottle the waiter opened a new one and topped off our glasses free of charge. When I ordered a glass of after-dinner port, they brought a plate full of dark chocolates to pair with it(on the house). We were the last to leave. We thought the waiter was coming to kick us out but instead he offered to play us any song over the stereo at our request. What an amazing evening...I LOVE THIS PLACE!
6440 SW Capitol Hwy
I can understand where some of the negative reviews are coming from: you are paying a lot of money for somewhat small portions of, essentially, peasant food, and the service is definitely of a relaxed nature. However, those portions are of superbly cooked fresh ingredients--treated with respect, not over sauced or contrived. The Agnolotti is a good example of where differences in taste could come into play: to our mind it is a perfect portion of superb delicate hand made stuffed pasta with a beautiful subtle Sage butter, but to others it could be a tiny bowl of miniature ravioli with no tomato sauce. \r The service is as we like it--allowing us to mull over our food without any pressure to turn the table. The knowledge of Italian wine is superb and the various house made Strega's are fantastic\r .It's understandably not everyone's cup of tea but we count it amongst our top 3 restaurants in town.

I have been going to Michael's for over 10 years now. I can’t attest that I actually know authentic Chicago cuisine, as I am not from Chicago. But, I know a good sandwich when I eat one and Michael's is a damn good sandwich. \r \r They make their own sausage. They make their own Italian beef. They make their own pepper garnish mixes. There is a lot of hard work and care in the products from Michael's, and it shows. \r \r To get the full experience, order a “Combo, Hot/Sautéed”. No disappointments, but not for the weak stomach. This is a powerful sandwich. \r \r Michael can be bellicose, but in recent years he has allowed more autonomy to his staff, so he generally stays low key nowadays. Don’t come in the door with an attitude and you won’t have problems with Michael. \r Michael’s also has perhaps the best French fries in town. The fries are nothing special, but I swear they just taste better at Michael’s.\r \r Please pay in cash if you can. Michael takes plastic but he really would like it if you gave him money in exchange for food. He really is bargain priced on his sandwiches, and the difference that the debit/credit card companies charge him actually eats into his profit significantly enough that it’s a big deal with him. \r \r You have 10 bucks cash lying around somewhere, right? If so, you have a ½ sandwich (they are large sandwiches, ½ does for most folks) Fries and a drink, plus a buck to throw in the tip jar for the staff, and still have change in your pocket.\r
