The first time I went to try TRX I did not know what to expect. Within the first 10 minutes it was the most intense full-body workout I had ever done! The next day I felt muscles I had not felt in a long time and knew this was just what I needed to push myself to the next level. The TRX class works everything - your core, upper and lower body, coordination etc. I have seen improvements in myself which have been great. When I do my weekend run up Weir Road now it is much easier! The trainer Casey is great! He does the entire workout with us and motivates everyone no matter what level you are on...beginner or experienced....he makes everyone feel comfortable and we all have fun! The class is always challenging but at the same time fun. Would like to do it more than once a week!

Had a groupon & enjoyed dinner with a friend this past Friday evening. Decent selections of beer on tap & wines. We were seated immediately and the server came over immediately with water and took our beverage order. The very friendly server came back a few minutes later to take our food order, I had the prosciutto wrapped shrimp as an appetizer (yummy) & pork loin as an entree. My friend had a salad and gnocchio entree. Pork loin was excellent - thick & juicy. The seasoning was complimentary to the pork loin. My friend enjoyed her selections as well. The entrees arrived a few moments after we finished our appetizers / salads. Look forward to visiting during warmer climes to enjoy the outdoor seating. Ambience inside restaurant was real nice - not too bright...not too dark. Lively atmosphere with excellent & friendly service... Will definitely be back!

After spending considerable time searching for a location for a Bar Mitzvah party, we found Club Sport. It was the best decision we could have made. From beginning to end the staff was wonderful. Jessica DeMonte, event coordinator was terrific, handling all details so we had nothing to worry about or be responsible for. The facility cost was extremely reasonable. The food was great and they worked to make it fit our budget. The people who came were quite impressed with the facility and food and we still are receiving rave reviews. I have and will continue to recommend Club Sport highly to anyone looking for an event site.

Old man smell? Give me a break. You probably went there one time and it was during the day when they have their seniors there. I think its cool they fill up their club with the old peeps when it would usually be empty. Lemme guess, you work out at a 24 hour fitness or an LA Fitness usually right? You're that type obviously. And by the way Ryan, some of those ""old men"" could probably out lift you! But on a better note, the gym is laid back and comfortable. I recommend it. I've been a member there for about 2 years and have had nothing but good service and met cool people.

Information and experience are the keys to success, and that's just what owner/personal trainer James provides. Tailoring a work out program that's personal for your goals. Educating how nutrition is factored in and how to keep you on task and focused. Working with James hands down was the most success I have ever achieved in fitness. My kudos and as always, I will keep recommending WBF!

I love, love, love barre3 - and I do live in the Pearl, but am not a mom, I usually go to the 6am class and get in my workout before work which is awesome.\r The instructors are great and I like that the routines are slightly different every time. I am definitely seeing results.\r My only ""complaint"" is that it's not exactly affordable, but in lieu of a gym membership/personal trainer, it's worth it!

I go here for the Arnis classes offered on thursdays, and am strongly considering getting a full membership after meeting some of the regular characters. The customers are pretty diverse here too. Plenty of average people trying to keep up on their fitness, but also quite a few bodybuilders and what I'd term ""lifestyle"" gym folk.\r I haven't done any lifting for a while but am excited to get started again now that I've gotten familiar with this place. \r Also, quite a few martial arts/wrestling classes take place pretty much every day of the week. The instructors are pretty solid people. Friendly and pragmatic with little ego.\r Definitely a more comfortable looking option compared to larger mega gyms.

I absolutely LOVE the Commit To Be Fit Program offered at Fierce Fitness Kickboxing and would recommend it to anyone. The 5x a week workouts are tough, fun, never boring and rewarding both physically and mentally. Also the nutrition guide that is provided is sensible and realistic for anyone willing to make healthier nutrition choices. Most important the atomsphere is energetic, clean and the trainers are friendly, knowledgable and very supportive. If you are looking for a total body workout/makeover then try Fierce Fitness Commit To Be Fit...you won't be disappointed. Fierce Fitness has become my home away from home over the past 3.5 years...I love everything that Fierce Fitness represents!!!!

This is a large gym that does at times see crowding. Busy times are between 5pm and 7pm as people are just getting off of work. It is likely that you will be waiting for the cardio equiptment and classes are quite full, however, it's not much worse than the Hollywood 24-Hour fitness, which has the same problems at that time of day. One major plus is that the clientel at the Pearl location are, overall, much better looking than at the Hollywood location. Very good equiptment selection and layout throughout this gym and nice that it has a pool/spa/sauna for those days when you want to mix up your routine or relax after your regular workout. Overall, I find it worth the extra drive to go this gym after 7 vs. going to my ""local"" 24-Hour Fitness in Hollywood.

I agree entirely with the post before mine. the mac club is an experience, which i am proud to contribute to. my family (4 including myself) have been members for roughly ten years. when i graduated highschool and became a ""senior member"" the mac made it very smooth. because the mac allows members through a lottery, they wanted to keep you as a member by allowing a temporary (unil the age of i believe 21 or 23) discount. i live in sherwood and i could certianly find a membership at a dozen other places nearby, but nowhere offers the community i feel there, and the many ammenites they have there. where in teh same building can you go work out outside (asuming there is nice weather) on a balcony, watch a game at pge park, get your hair done, go out to eat work in the study in the same building? on another note, all the equipment is regularly replaced. it was the most impressive treadmills i have ever seen. there is a reason they allow only by lottery. there are already so many members, you have to wait for months for a locker contract to end, and to be assigned a locker. the lottey doesn't discriminate. i know of many very well established families in the portland metro area who have been tured down. it is hands down the best athletic club i have ever been too, and will remain a member for my entire life.

Me Fitness staff members are amongst the most professional, courteous and knowledgeable in the Portland City area. They took personal interest in the success of my fitness program by making sure I completed all my complimentary training sessions. In addition they also made sure my initial training evolved into a regular fitness routine.

I have been working out with Wildfire Fitness since the beginning of March and the Boot Camp class that is taught by Wildfire Fitness has really helped me step up my work outs, help me lost 45.5 lbs, and 40 inches. I still have a bit to go but i know that working out with Wild Fire Fitness will help me reach all of my fitness goals in no time. This is a great work out for beginners to experts. Tami does a great job if making the work outs fit ever fitness level while making it challenging for the person who is just beginning to work out program to the person who has been running marathons. Each class in unique and ever changing! I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone!

I have been a member of this club for several years; there was a recent ownership change and I would advise everyone to run, don't walk away! They no longer a cloth to use (never had a real towel, but a washcloth was satisfactory). They now blast hard rock consistently and when asked if they could at least vary the music, as they once did, I was told that my looking for a different club ""was probably a good idea"". Machines are already starting to break down, TV screens are locked on a channel. Too bad, it once was my perfect club.

Waterfront Fitness delivers an extremely fun workout experience and the work out is always challenging. Sure beats the monotony of my old boring gym routine, oh and add in the bonus that the training location is the best in Portland! Right on the Willamette river waterfront! Perfect way to start or end my day, depending on my busy work schedule! Can't wait for next month's session to start already!

I've been a member here for 2 monthes and I've had a fantastic experiance thus far. I've been a member at 24hrs and SAC where it people go to parade themselves around and treat it like a singles bar. This is a working man's/woman's gym. Come here to get fit, stay fit, or whatever your goal. The people have all been helpful and friendly. As in all places there are some staff that standout from the rest. Kenny and Megan are AWSOME! Kenny is the Ops Mgr and is always available to answer a question, give advice on fitness/nutrition, or just BS. Megan is a certified nutritionist and trainer that is very knowledgable and passionate about what she does. If these two can't get you fit, no one can. The layout of the gym is smartly done (cardio one side of building, weights the other, office in the middle). The equipment is clean and in working order. Peak times are busy, but there is always room somewhere. If cardio is full, you can hit weights. If weights aren't your thing, then you can do some circuit training, core exercises, or stretching. I can't rate their classes as I haven't taken any. But for $25/month I am getting great help with my training and plenty of use from the daycare for my son. I know that not all gyms are created equal. I am not speaking for any other gym (Bally's or not) but this location. Do yourself a favor and at least go in and talk with them. Then you can make your own decision.

At around a hundred bucks a month for pool and fitness, West Hills is a solid value for a family who wants to swim together and work out in a nice environment. Big barbecue grills are always ready to go on summer evenings -- a favorite spot for West Burbs folks to bring the family down for a swim and then grill up some goodies to enjoy on the picnic tables on the lawn next to the play structure. Work out facilities never crowded, always clean. Not too fancy, not too crowded -- WHRC is juuust right.

Curves is great if you just want to get active again, they are nice people with good intentions. But you will find that you quickly reach a fitness plateau and no matter how hard you try, you will not get any stronger or loose any more weight, (assuming diet stays the same) because the equipment is non-adjustable and the 30 minute circuit is restricting, even working out every day... I had a goal to loose weight, and did loose weight the first 4 weeks, but after that, no matter how hard I tried, nothing else happened. They told me I wasn't trying hard enough, but actually I was trying even harder my second month. I found out that the ""Curves"" advertisment, that you can loose up to 500 calories on their 30 minute circuit training is an out right impossiblity! Only the people like ""Lance Armstrong"" would use anything close to 500 calories per 30 minutes, cycling as hard as he could up the Alps!!! The reality is that I lost about 150-200 calories per workout ... working and sweating as hard as I could on their machines. I am in better shape now, but I have not lost the weight they promised I would. It just didn't work for me.

I just had the most unpleasant experience with the Portland Allstar Fitness general manager. I met with Bruce (great guy) to tour the gym and talk about joining. He gave me a week trial period and we scheduled an appt for today because I decided to join. When I showed up the front desk staff called for him. A couple minutes later this man says, "ma'am, please have a seat" and points to a chair. Seemed a bit strange, but I sat down. He told me that he was the general manager and that Bruce was training someone and that he would help me instead. I told him I wanted to sign up for the 12-month membership at $39 a month (Bruce had gone over the different memberships with me at our first meeting). I also told him Bruce said the $99 initiation fee was negotiable and we could bring it down some. The GM told me that it was $39 a month if I paid upfront for the entire year, or it was $49 a month if i signed a 12-month contract and did auto-payment each month. When I told him that I thought it was $39 a month as long as I signed a 12-month contract, he said he could do that for me but there was no room for negotiation on the $99 activation fee. He said he would waive the fee if I paid for an entire year today. He was very pushy about the year payment. I tend to jump into buying things without thinking about it, so I told him nicely that I wanted to think about it for a little bit. He then told me that was fine, but if I left and came back later, the offer was off the table and that I would have to pay the $49 a month and $99 activation fee. I felt very pressured, like all he wanted was my year's membership paid at that very moment or he would do nothing for me. I asked him if he really was not willing to give me a little time to think about it, and he said if you leave the offer is no longer available. So I told him I would have to pass and he rudely said, "fine!" I was really looking forward to joining this gym because it is directly across the street from my work and they had all the equipment, r-ball courts, etc that I was looking for. I wanted to purchase training sessions with Bruce because he seemed genuinely interested in helping a person with their physical health. But I have never met such a rude, money-hungry general manager who obviously has no interest in his clients, only interest in getting their money. It was really disgusting and upsetting.
