....it doesn't include the hours the shop is open.\r That is why I - and many others - increasingly use citysearch and the wider web: we're looking for useful information, for example hours of operation.\r \r As for Urban Grind, I love it. Best coffee shop in Portland. \r But this site helps me 0% if I don't know what time they open.

This is my favorite place in the whole Portland metroplex to have coffee or tea, alone or with friends. The coffee is fine by me, the tea menu truly outstanding, and the selection of other treats, including the really delightful ""lunch cookies,"" is varied and yummy. What this place really offers that corporate coffeehouses and most other places I've sampled do not is an ambiance like the most comfortable country cottage you ever visited--the one decorated with tables and chairs that are less about Ikeaesthetics and more about charm. It's a great place to hang while you're getting to know that intriguing fellow cat-lover you recently met at your vet's, plowing through that pile of thank-you notes you owe your generous co-workers, trading dating ""what was I thinking?"" stories with your oldest friend, or getting lost in that classic novel you finally decided to take off the shelf. There is a variety of seating, including several outdoor tables on bustling Thurman Street -- with quieter options around the corner on 25th. And yes, it can get crowded--because I'm not the only fan who adores it. But if you're wanting a break from chains, or just from minimalist decor, check this place out. You'll leave smiling!

Cute little tech coffeeshop with lots of tech coffee equipment and one of the nicest baristas I have yet to meet in this town. Two doors away from it's parent Stumptown, which is much larger and busier, this little hideout is great for a quick fix.

You should try this place. They do have great breakfast bagels and scrambles. I am a huge fan of Zbeanz coffee and was thrilled that they serve it. I think they are the only coffee shop on the east side that serves serves Zbeanz, a big plus with me. The patio is a real bonus, too. Sunday brunch with a mimosa and one of Momma's great omelets is just about heaven.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant this evening, and it was a truly sublime experience. I just signed up for citysearch just so I could post this review and encourage everyone in the area to eat here as soon as you can. I was especially moved to write this review after noticing, to my astonishment, two one-star reviews. One reviewer was griping about the salmon, and another about the service. Since my wife and I are vegetarians, I can't comment on the fish preparation, but every dish we ordered was orgasmic, so it's hard to imagine them screwing anything up in the kitchen. Another person griped about being asked to leave...we found the entire waitstaff to be casual, friendly, helpful and prompt. Our waiter checked in with us several times throughout our meal, but not so much as to be irritating. If you want to eat some healthy, delicious food in a charming victorian house (with a very pleasant outdoor seating area), by all means check this restaurant out. We'll definitely eat here again.

My friends and I had wanted to try Ethiopean food for a while, and we stumbled upon E'Njoni Cafe because it had the best reviews. What a LUCKY day! \r We came in just as they opened and were wonderfully greeted and sat down. Apparently on Sundays they have an ""all you can eat"" buffet, so you can sample almost everything on the menu. We couldn't turn down that kind of deal! \r The food was amazing! The curry chicken and curry vegetables were my favorite. Everything smelled delicious and tasted just as good. \r The owner really takes pride in his business and being environmentally, vegan, and vegetarian friendly. It's a great local family owned place. =) \r I couldn't be happier with our experience and will definitely make more frequent stops here!

THe Bennedict is the best in town. If you don't want breakfast try the Veggie Philly they have is big and good for lunch or dinner. THe salads are cheaper than buying one at a organic grocery store. we Went on a week night and weekend. The weeknight the server was extremely accomidating with a special diet I have and the food came very quickly. The weekend was quick for the line they had. The food was amazing the servers were accomidating and kind, and got the food out as quickly as humanly possible. Worth the wait !!!!

I love the Vita Cafe (across the street from its old location). It's got a little bit of everything - and you can't help but enjoy the cool decor. I would recommend this place for all ages. There's a toy box and high chairs for kids. There's a bar for adults. And the menu suits everyone. Try the salmon cakes - they're delicious! I'll definitely be going back to the Vita Cafe.

I have had the pleasure of eating yummy desserts and drinking perfectly prepared coffee and tea at Rimsky's several times over the past few decades. I am frankly shocked at the negative reviews, as they are thoroughly contrary to my experiences! I am a New Yorker, and am not known for my patience or zen attitude. Rimsky's is a busy and popular place, a combination of a European-style coffee house and a zany, Portland restaurant. I've always had a wonderful time at Rimsky's, including just a few days ago. It's truly one of the most special spots in the city - one that helps ""keep Portland Weird"" (and may Portland always be so!)\r

Wonderful staff, everyone is always welcoming and very appreciative that you are there. Some of the best bands from all over play here with a very personable feel! You can stand and enjoy the entertainment or mosey on over to the other side of the bar and sit down and visit with friends. Sinferno is the place to be on Sundays in Portland no where else can even compare. There's magicians, go-go dancers in between acts on the front stage and every week is something new and exciting! :) I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone and everyone!

We went to Cafe Castagna last night and were completely delighted. First off, the service was impeccable: prompt, informed, pleasant, and unobtrusive. The meal was superb! A standout was the braised beef angliotti recommended by our server. They were really sensational, and came in a beef broth reduction with chives and I'm guessing sherry. The fried risotto croquettes with fontina were delightful. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries based on their reputation for burgers and they did not disappoint. I think the fries were some of the best tasting fries I have had anywhere. The potato flavor was clear and earthy, the fries were properly cooked - light and crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle. The burgers were superb, and the addition of delicious house-made sweet pickles didn't hurt either. I can't wait to go back and try more items, the people here clearly have skill and obviously cook with love and pride.

I love the specialties here. There are several places like this but there is something special about their brew here. I am addicted to the smell and the peace that this place has.

We have been frequenting Detour for years and enjoy almost everything there is about this quaint diner. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing and there soups are to die for. The waitstaff is pleasant and we like the fact you get to pour yourself coffee at your leisure. What sets this place apart is the care that is taken in preparing their food, it is delicious and looks that way as well. GO you will not be disappointed.
22.Hush Hush Cafe

i've been going here for more than four years and the Hush Hush Cafe is consistently delicious, fast and comfortable to visit. The food is prepared from scratch. His mariades are done perfectly and he has a spicy homemade hot sauce if you ask. I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. In other words, it's all fanatastic!

This is the breakfast place nearest where I live, so I've been to Junior's quite a lot over the last four years. In 2006-07 I had some issues with very slow service and somewhat small portion sizes, but as of the last two years the portion sizes have been large (but not overwhelming) and the service has been friendly and reasonably fast. They used to be cash only, so I was glad when they started accepting cards and I'm more than willing to pay 50 cents extra to not have to run down the block to the ATM (when they first started taking cards I was politely and apologetically informed about the fee many, many times, and really didn't care much about 50 cents!). Of course any restaurant you go to will have varying service depending on who is working at the time, but I've had a lot of good experiences at Junior's, and none of the bad ones described in other reviews. They've even let me eat there within only a few minutes of closing, when some other restaurants will turn you away, especially if you're eating alone. Great place!

While visiting Portland, my friend Megan told me about Cricket Cafe and the great food. I was amazed by the menu, so many unique breakfast offerings and cocktails to pair with Breakfast! Of course great coffee drinks too. I'd recommend: The Saints Hash Go on late on weekday to guarantee a table and pray you get Jessie as your server. She is the atmosphere.

For all the years I've lived in Portland I somehow never got to this place, and I'm so glad I finally did. I really like the ambiance in the converted house: I like the plants and all the windows and the light light light. There's a welcoming feel and the staff were just the right touch of peppy and helpful. Food was excellent, prices were reasonable. I will recommend this cafe.

I just discovered Tiny's. What a great neighborhood place! I've taken to hanging out there to work on my book. They have great wi-fi, excellent coffee, a cool outdoor patio, and tremendous service. If only they had more cold stuff to drink, it would be nirvana. But as it is, it's pretty close to perfect. Oh, and political correctness aside, the baristas are hot!

The coffee in here is really amazing, I love the cappuccino, really good foam and amazing roast. The mild roast that they have is enough to pick me up in the morning.

This Cup and Saucer is our favorite place to go for weekend breakfast. The food is excellent and they use quality ingredients and don't make it fatty. I got back from a trip recently to another city where I ate out every day in a trendy neighborhood, and even had room service in an up-market hotel, and yet the breakfast I had at this Cup and Saucer the day after returning was, well, the best breakfast I'd had since my prior visit to Cup and Saucer. They have some wonderful wait-staff and are generally very attentive, though they can get way too busy around lunchtime on the weekend, which could mean a wait time and it does impact service too of course. They have daily specials that usually include a yummy omelet and a special pancake, and generally a quiche too. The only place in my life that I've eaten more breakfasts at is, well, home. I enjoy the salmon scramble and veggie omelets and anything with Hollandaise sauce. Love them.
