Old Port Slice Bar and Ice Bar
Did they do something to my pizza, like eye drops, or whatever the current trick is? I ate at seven, it's nine now, and I've had diarrhea four times

Cumberland Avenue Garage
I was in Portland for a couple of days on vacation. Only a couple of hours into my stay, I managed to pop a tire. I frantically Googled where I could bring my car and stumbled on Cumberland Ave. Garage. I got the car to them and within 20 minutes my tire was plugged and I was only charged $20 for the fix. It was honestly the best service I could have ever asked for. I highly recommend this garage and now I know that if I ever wind up in the Portland area again I know who to call.

Hub Furniture Co
NO Customer Service - Just bought a new bed, box spring and headboard. After 30 days the headboard crackles every time we sit on the bed. Called Hub Furniture asking what they would do about it. They indicated that the head board had nothing wrong with it, that it was designed that way. They made no offer to send anyone out to look at the head board, nor would they allow us to return it, or trade up for a better headboard. When we asked the owner of Hub Furniture Sam Novick if he cared that we were an unsatisfied customer he stated that they have been doing business this way for over 100 years. So if you expect any customer service do not go to Hub Furniture. FURNITURE BUYERS BEWARE OF HUB FURNITURE

Bernie's Car Care
I'm glad to have re-discovered Bernie's. I've been in a few times over the past few weeks and everyone has been very helpful, and the prices are reasonable. Some details:- Made an appt, and was given a loaner car for the day while the work was being done.- For another appt, was given a ride after I dropped off my car and then picked up later in the day.- When I needed a fairly big repair, Beth researched parts to save some money on the job. Also, Beth and a couple mechanics took the time to drive with me, show me what was up with my car on the lift, and took a lot of time to thoroughly explain my issue.

Great food. Perfect atmosphere. Gentle, courteous professional people. If that's not what you're looking for in a restaurant, you shouldn't be going out.

Bernie's Car Care
After going to a previous mechanic and being told I needed to replace my whole brake line for 2-300$, I took my truck here in much despair and little cash in my wallet. They proceeded to let me know that all that was wrong was that I had a loose screw in my brake line, and fluid was leaking out from it. They then bled my brakes, tightened the screw, and topped off my fluid at very minimal expense to me, and my brakes are solid. Believe it or not people, mechanics do exist who care about their quality of service and their customers more than filling their wallets, and they exist here. I will be a returning customer for sure.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
