Beebe's Auto Repair
The hourly rates of this business may seem expensive but the speed with which they complete repairs is amazing. For example they put an entire NEW air conditiong kit into my 1998 Chevy S10 for just $750. Other places in Porterville wanted $1200 up. I've had other repairs done there with similar experiences regarding their charges out the door. I highly recommend them.

Hamilton's Auto Technitians
Took my car in for a water leak ended up paying 403.55 for a timing belt that was fine when my car got there. After 10 days I was asked to come and pay the money and take my car bcoz I bugged too much. They never fixed the problem just created a new and charged me for it.

Ray Ray's Auto Repair
I agree, because i used to work for him,,in the same shop WITH spit on the floor. He cussed at me for dumb stuff. He had my spray paint brake calipers and control arms Gloss black. He Ripped people off left and right that i saw with my own eyes,,CAUSE I WAS DOING THE WORK,, while he sat there every single day and drank and smoked and spit on the floor.. Every single day. He even made me do beer runs and other things for him every day. He payed me 20.00 bucks a day If that for 8 hours of hard hard work on other peoples cars,, i asked him a few times why cant he pay me a little more, he said cause theres no one comeing in but he would get paid 300-500-600 buck from other peoples cars that i did the work on,,the reason he couldnt pay me more is cause he needed to pay the rent on the building,,,he used that line almost 2-4 times a many times dose one person pay rent????. i got the job because my brother found this looser for a transmission rebuild,, if any of you remember a red 1990 firebird sitting out side that was our car, he tryed to rebuilt id 3 times and no luck,,once he FIRED ME i took the firebird home and put in a rebuilt transmision for 475.00 from the coast. had it in the next day and works great, he dosent know anything and he talks crap about every single macanic in porterville and thinks he is awsome in what he dose. it took us two months to get 500 bucks back from him for not doing the transmission job correctly..Do not take your car there,,,DO NOT. U will be ripped off and taken advantage of. he even talked crap about his other friends who also had car shops..this guy is something els and if i could get ahold of that person that he had me spray paint those parts i would tell them because they where a new family with a new baby and they where on wel-fair cause they paid for the repairs,,1400 dollars, he only had me put on a few parts..and he pocketed the rest. All of this is just a little info, cause there is a alot more trust me.. i even seen him being mean and rude to little old ladys cause they asked to many questions. or she kept coming back cause they car kept failing, and then he always blaimed me,,it was always ..YES sir.. right away sir.. its your shop, anything u like sir.. alll the time and he calls that back talk. witch is whhy he let me go..Like what ever.. And i even brought him one of my friends who had a big speed boat and i did all the work and he charged him 800 bucks and i got 60 for the hole day. hes all..How u like like smiling..Oh yeah 60 bucks.. YAY.. deep down im like screw u a hole i have a kid who is sick i need money for all this work i do u lazy bum..
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
