Dragonfly Dental of Port Charlotte
I brought my boyfriend into Dragonfly Dental of Port Charlotte for a dental emergency on a Saturday (yes, they are OPEN ON SATURDAYS :) ) and everyone on the staff were so incredibly sweet, patient and competent. After seeing how they treated him at that first appointment, I quickly became a patient myself. I had never had a bad dental experience myself, but I also had never had a GREAT dental experience until I came here. I always have the feeling that they really know what they're doing, they won't do anything unnecessary, and they will walk you through everything that is done if you have any questions. I love this place...just a great, relaxed, all-around office environment, and it's convenient to my work. I had read on their website where someone said they genuinely enjoyed working there each and every day. I can't say how true this is, how much it shows in their interactions with patients, and the overall great experience of being in the office. It really makes a difference.

First off, this dentist is NOT a "corporate" dentist. I made the mistake of going to one of the "corporate" dental offices nearby and the other dentist quoted me over $1,700 just to take out ONE tooth. I didn't want to be sedated or "put to sleep" but the other "corporate" dentist kept pushing me to do it. I gave up and called here right afterwards and gave this new dentist a try and they took my tooth out the same day without forcing me into being put to sleep. No pressure. They spent over an hour talking about all my options with me, too. I will be back with my parents soon.

Simply Smiles Pa
My experience at Simply Smiles, PA was tremendous. The staff was on the move and didn't have any problems. I scheduled an appointment, walked in, and the next minute, I was in the chair getting my crown! The "resort" was delightful! Everything was as clean as my teeth when I walked out! I felt very comfortable being at the Simply Smiles practice. Everyone was real friendly. Simply Smiles is a place of Joy. I would recommend Simply Smiles, PA to anyone who is in need of a nice, clean, swift tooth issue! :)

Let me say that the people at Dragonfly Dental are actually really nice and compassionate people that stayed AFTER they had closed on a Friday to help me. This office was the ONLY place that was nice enough to still get me in late on a Friday afternoon as a walkin emergency. I was turned away by FIVE other offices yesterday, and I was afraid that my swollen tooth would require me to go to the ER instead if they hadn't helped me.

Nice and clean office. Friendly staff. Dentist who knows the 'latest and greatest' in dentistry and actually KNOWS what he is talking about. No sales gimmicks and no "hard sell." This is what dentistry WAS like before "Big Box Dental" moved in. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Matt and his team at Dragonfly Dental if you want to have a personalized, relaxing, and honest dental home for you and your friends and family.

Most thorough cleaning I've ever had. I had 2 other dentists tell me I needed a deep cleaning without even looking in my mouth. The dentist here (Dr. Matt) took a lot of time taking digital color pictures of my teeth and showing me what they looked like. I liked the fact that he explained everything one by one and didn't pressure me. I will be recommending them to everyone in my family and my work.

This is the absolute nicest office and they were so accommodating today. I walked in with a swollen tooth and they fit me into their already-busy schedule to get my wisdom tooth out and to take away the pain. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a sincere and compassionate dentist. My wife and son made appointments for next week right before Thanksgiving, too. Keep up the good work, folks.

This is the best dentist I have been to ever. I broke my tooth in half and was able to get in to get it taken out the same day. Everyone was professional, office is very clean, and the prices were very fair, especially for the time and attention I was given. I will be coming back to get my cleanings and checkups in the future and to get an implant as well after my insurance renews in 2017.

I am in Florida for season as I am every year from my home in Canada. My lower molar tooth broke in half at dinner last night and Dr. Matt and his team at Dragonfly Dental got me in first thing today and got my tooth fixed. I will be following up with my dentist back home, but I now have a dentist I can trust when I am enjoying the warm weather each season. Thank-you again.

If you hate going to the dentist, give this office a try. I never thought I would actually go back to any office more than once, but these fine people have earned my trust time and time again. Honest and trustworthy and didnt try to sell me on anything. Loved the color pictures they took of my teeth so I could actually see my teeth and what they look like in my mouth.
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
