I recently moved to Pocatello and want to share my experience of bringing my car to the Rocky Mountain Auto Care Center. I have an older VW Golf, which I’ve maintained faithfully for the past 10 years. Being new to the area, I was really nervous about taking my car somewhere. For the past few days, I noticed a gas smell coming in through my AC vent and the idle speed fluctuating between 1000 and 2000 RPM without touching the gas pedal. Knowing my car pretty intimately, I knew that something wasn’t right. Not wanting to wait until something happened where I’d be stranded without a vehicle, I did a quick internet search for a mechanic close to ISU. I chose to call the Rocky Mountain Auto Care Center. I dropped my car off there in the morning before work, and dropped my key in the slot. As most of you can probably relate, I braced myself for the inevitable call saying “Ah, you’re going to need X, and it’s going to cost X amount (generally at LEAST 200 + dollars)”. You can imagine my surprise and delight, when Jason called and told me that he couldn’t find anything wrong with my car (he had checked for fuel leaks) and that the smell of gas and strange idling behavior was probably due to someone (me) leaving the oil cap off last time I added oil to my car. Oil had leaked out and was burning out on the engine. Long story short, he put the cover back on and the issue is solved. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have found an HONEST mechanic in my new town. He could have easily made up some story about a gasket, fuel pump or something else and charged me whatever and I would have been none the wiser. This experience really proves that there are still trustworthy, decent people out there. To top off the experience, when I went to pick up my car and pay the $20 fee (he could charge MUCH more), the power was out in Pocatello and he gave me my car key, explained to me what he checked on my car and told me to come back tomorrow to pay him. WOW – if you’re looking to get your car repaired in Pocatello – please go here, you won’t be disappointed!
My kids and I were on our way back to Montana the night before Christmas Eve and my car threw a belt on the interstate. I drove it as far as I could until I died as I pulled into a gas station. I saw the shop across the street and ran over for see if they could help. It was shortly after five pm and the gentleman came out and looked at it and had me pull across the street where he began to work on it for me. He had parts delivered promptly and stayed 2 hours after they were closing to make sure my family was taken care of and back on the road safely. I very much appreciated their hospitality and willingness to stay after hours and help us.. I strongly recommend this shop to anyone in the area.
I've taken my cars to Dr. D's several times. What clinched it for me was the time I thought I had the problem diagnosed, but fixing it was beyond my skills. It would have been a very expensive part and a fair amount for labor. I gave the good doctor the go-ahead to order the part. He called me back a couple of hours later and told me that wasn't the problem, it was a plugged filter. The thousand-dollar job I had okayed ended up costing me less than a hundred. A car tech who is both skilled and honest is good to know.
I will never take my car anywhere else. Mike is honest and by far the best price anywhere for miles. I needed a transmission flush on my Nissan and the dealership wanted to charge me $210! Mike did it for 87. I highly recommend going to him for all your car needs. He always does more than what's needed and won't cost you an arm and a leg!
I have been a customer of Alameda Automotive for 10 years and have always been treated fairly. I find they are very competent. I manage a motel in town and send all my guests there when they have a problem. I have never had any negative feed back from any of them in 10 years.
We had the transmission go out on our 2007 Silverado pickup at only 40k miles. (out of warranty for time but not miles) Because it was a known issue on some trucks, they repaired it for a $200 deductible instead of the usual $3k or so. Good work, very professional.
We purchased a new 2013 Buick LaCrosse in April from Hirning Buick-GMC. The staff were personable, low-pressure, and gave us a great deal. We love the Buick! The service at this place is fantastic too. We highly recommend doing business with this place.
While passing through Pocatello, ID my AC quit. Ray and his staff provided extremely fast and totally competent service with honesty and integrity. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Best repair shop in the area! We live 30 miles away and always take the trip back here. Very fast, trustworthy, and competitively priced.
Cole Chevrolet are professional and listen to your auto needs. I traded my Traverse in and they were great to work with.
