Fred's Tree & Lawn Service
As a recent cusotmer, reading through these reviews was rather shocking to me. FREDS TREE & LAWN SERVICES Inc. had given me an estimate of 1200 to remove a huge Hemlock tree in our back yard as well as an addition 350 to trim and thin out our Pin Oak tree in the front lawn. Overall I was very pleased with the crews performance. The laborers not only handled their jobs professionally but worked extremely hard as a team to accomplish said tasks. Yes it was expensive and I understand that considering the talent and risks involved with such work but at the pace these guys moved. It blew my mind. At first i was a bit skeptical but after watching them through the windows, I could tell they knew what they were doing and that helped put me at ease. What I thought was going to take them atleast a day and a half, only took them 7 hours with only 4 guys and no equipment other than the trucks they pulled up in. Before they started I had spoken with the climber, whom was polite and knowledgeable about the business. Before he started anything he had checked in with me to make sure he had the right location and then briefed over the job to make sure the description of the were correct. The crew had moved various lawn ornaments and even put them back when the job was finished. I don't know what else to say other than they were great at what they did and met my expectations. I would recommend Freds tree service to anyone that needs work done. Not sure exactly what to say about the prior comments below. These guys do it good and in a timely manor. Thank you Fred and crew for doing such miraculous work. If I ever need any more work done, you will hear from me in the future.

Dave Miller Tree Removal
I am very satisfied with the service that I received in 5/2013. I got numerous bids from many competing landscaping companies and although Dave was not the cheapest of those bids…he was more than reasonable and charged a fair price for the service! He was professional, friendly, and knowledge. He returned my initial call immediately. He came to my house and gave a free estimate within a day or two along with giving me his professional opinion on whether it was worth it to trim or removed the tree completely. He did not force or pressure me for business. When I did finally decide to contract him out to just remove my tree, he showed up promptly. Mr. Miller kept open communication through the whole process from start to finish… from my 1st call to removing and hauling away the tree. Mr. Miller and his crew were polite, respectful and did an amazing job of cleaning up afterwards. I would definitely refer and use Dave Miller Tree Removal Service again in the future.

Fred's Tree & Lawn Service
Fred and his crew had great knowledge and expertise for trimming our two very over grown trees that needed attention. He was very kind over the phone and had the same friendliness when he arrived on the day of the job. His crew was precise, helpful, and knowledgeable about their work. They assured our approval before leaving and thanked us personally for the work. We will be contacting them in the future for any other tree or lawn service we might need.

R.S. Tree Service
I booked two trees to be cut down and removed in February. As in Pittsburgh, you never know the weather. As soon as the weather broke enough, the service was right on. They were very quick and finished in the time frame that was quoted to me. They even removed other twigs and debree for us. Also, very reasonably priced. I would recommend them for their service and use them again. We will have full sunshine over our pool this summer. Yeah!

Fred's Tree & Lawn Service
Fred came on a monday and gave us a written estimate with copies of all his insurance coverage. He was extremely reasonable and very upfront with what his services would be. On wednesday his crews arrived and my tree was cut down to the ground level within two hours. Cleanup was awesome on my property and my neighbors property that was used for access to the tree. I would definitely recommend Fred's Tree Service.

Fred's Tree & Lawn Service
Guys came out to remove a stump and did a good job. They weren't very friendly but as long as the work was done well I shouldn't complain, I guess.

Tips & Advices
Do your due diligence and always ask for proof of insurance and certification before agreeing to any work. You will also want to be on the lookout for telltale signs of scams and be cautious of any company that:
  • Will not provide you with a certificate of their insurance policy or only has general liability coverage
  • Declines to give you a written estimate for the job
  • Gives you bids that either seem very low or very high
  • Contacted you out of the blue to see if you needed their services
  • Has complaints against it from business bureaus in your area
  • Asks for payment before starting work
  • Doesn't have a fixed physical address
Tree service companies are also great places to get your wood if you happen to have a fireplace. Many tree businesses offer free delivery and stacking of hardwoods, such as maple or birch. These can make for the best firewood because they burn slowly and don't produce as much smoke as other types.
If you want to add to the greenery in your yard but you're concerned about the right species to plant or where to put it on your property, seek the advice of an arborist.
If a storm hits and damages your residence, a tree service professional is usually on your list of people to call for help after first responders and your insurer. A professional service can completely remove a tree or just prune and saw off its branches if a storm damages a tree. After sawing or destroying the tree, professionals can then remove any of the dangerous debris from your yard by hauling it off.
Some bugs burrow through the bark and damage hardwood and softwood trees. Depending on the species of trees in your yard and the region of the country you live in, aphids, the infamous emerald ash borer or other pests could destroy your healthy trees.
