I had an interesting story were I was almost accused of fraud for trying to deposit old money. Even though I was allowed to leave the bank they kept $400 of $20 notes from 1950. I had no knowledge of old notes being an issue so I immediately found an appraiser to assist me. I met Dane and he immediately had no problem taking his time to look over each note and actually took time out to explain some of the history from old money to new money. He was able to talk to me in terms I could understand. He helped me with taking the old bills after appraising them. I would say if anybody is having an issue or needs an expert in money, Dane is definitely the man to see. Dane thanks again for taking your time out of your day to help me.Just for people to know his knowledge helped me to get my other bills back to me, but lessoned learn do not take old money to bank!!

I grew up in a "furniture making" family. My Father a master craftsman upolsterer and my Grand father a master craftsman cabinet maker. When I walked into the Grimes shop, nostalgia took over my emotions. The family was kind and I had high hopes that the wicker pieces that had been in my family for over 100 years. Upon delivery of the two chairs, I almost burst into tears! They are BEYOND BEAUTIFUL! It is painstaking work to remove 100 years of paint and repainted paint without damaging the original wicker. To my amazement, the pieces look perfect. I am VERY HARD TO PLEASE considering my furniture background! The Grimes family takes pride in their work and work hard to please. Bring your heirlooms here and while your there, look at the furniture room downstairs. There are treasures there. The real magic comes from the Grimes family no the magical, talented craftsman whom are behind the scenes at this wonderful business. Thank you again, nag rimes Intereiors..you do DELIVER dreams of Perfection. Michele A

I like the bookstore and would give it a good review except for one thing, and that thing has prompted me to write this review. \n\nThe guy behind the counter has always been weirdly rude and passive-aggressive when I have bought, sold, or traded books there. He's the worst thing about the store. He reminds me of a pawnbroker who reluctantly and contemptuously accepts, or refuses, what you brought in. He's rather like the evil pawnbroker in some 19th-century social novel.\n\nI've spent a lot of time in used bookstores in Berkeley, Portland, OR, Madison, WI, and Cambridge, Mass--university towns where the bookstores have a much larger stock and more room to wander--and never did I encounter a clerk with such a disdainful persona.

My son recently became engaged.. I gave him a diamond from his grandmother. He took it to the coin exchange to be reset. you would not believe how beautiful this is. The staff was so kind. He had very little knowledge about the whole process the woman there was so helpful and really gave him an education on diamonds. The price was much more reasonable than jewelery stores were giving him. This is a gem of a store. We went there because my husband has been buying coins there for years and raves about the place.

Banner Coin Exchange is a true gem of Pittsburgh and a must stop if you want to get a taste of the old-time Burg. The shop is totally retro: a hard to find little nook on 4th Avenue. It evokes images of Ollivander's Wand Shop in Diagon Alley. It is stuffed and piled with dusty boxes and coins, knick-knacks and yellowed photos. Piles and piles of fond memories and broken dreams. And Eddie knows every bit of it. There is no pretense. No BS. Just fair deals and fair trades. Eddie is just good at what at he does and he knows it. Buy or sell - you will get fair trade. Not only is Eddie LGBT friendly - he is EVERYONE friendly. He is always honest, quick and knows exactly what a fair price is. I only wish I could give more than five stars for this review.
11.Paul's Clock Repair
1234 Straka St
Paul and his wife Judy repaired my 100 year old grandfather clock. Paul kept me informed about a complicated repair of old parts. He tested the repairs thoroughly and then Judy brought the clock works home and placed them in the case. Everything works much better than I've experienced. Thanks to this carefully managing, the clock chimes are more melodious than ever, and the clock keeps perfect time. Myra Woods.

So it's weird to read some of the reviews below because my friend and I have had great experiences at Zenith in all regards! We've always enjoyed the food a lot (just wish there were more choices and hours); the staff and owner have always been relaxed, friendly and attentive; and the goods in the store are stunningy, amazingly varied, interesting, and choice. We've sold to and bought from with much success and appreciation on both sides, and always always enjoyed our dining at Zenith. As with any business, of any sort, check it out at various times etc. and you're most likely recognize that there are bound to be ""off"" times or experiences. Don't let that stop you from giving it another try. In a relatively small and limited city like Pittsburgh (I'd been living in San Francisco for 20 years before coming back here), it's well worth it!

We´ve had a wonderful experience buying our wedding bands from Marlene Harris. We called in the order and kept in contact with e-mail. Always a quick response to any of our questions. She was so nice, and the wedding bands are truly beautiful and unique. They were also nicely presented to us when they arrived, in beautifull boxes. Hopefully we can go see her shop, and shop some more in Pittsburg :) Lila & Gaute, Norway.

When I read a couple of these reviews, I couldn't believe it was the same place!! The Pittsburgh Antique Shop dealers do work with the customers on price, etc. They are so friendly, and the shops are really nice, with beautiful merchandise. You must go there for yourself;\r I love this place, and see lots I would love to buy. I was sad when I saw the old place was closing, but it is better than ever! You definitely will be glad you came in.

when I was in grad school (mid-90s) there was an employee who was fabulous, helpful, knew stock really well and would go above and beyond to help. (plus, she was hot. sometimes stopped in to buy stuff just 2c her. hey kristine!)\r Anyway, please keep in mind that a small shop with small # of staff has to spread selves out. Be nice to them and, if you have a very specific target item, maybe even call ahead to give heads-up that you're looking for, say, a man's powder blue tux in whatever your size is. Maybe they have it tucked away somewhere and can pull it for you. But if you show-up on a Sat afternoon when it is busy busy busy, the 1-2 sales staff won't be able to give you that level of service.\r \r not to malign salvation army but never ever say salvation army in the same breath with Eons- they are not the same.\r salvation army is a ""thrift"" store= free castoffs being resold. good place to go if your primary concern is cheap...maybe that halloween costume that you don't want to pay a lot for since you're only going to wear it once.\r \r Eons is a vintage store: high quality antique clothing, many one-of-a-kind. Owner has discriminating taste for style and quality: there is no junk. Many items are in original packaging/original tags and have never been worn even though they are 40+ years old. This a place for fashionistas. Eons is the shop to find a 1930's Bridal gown in mint condition or a cocktail dress that Jackie-O would have loved. then there are Club clothes, club kids, need I say more? \r Plus, Clothes are dry-cleaned before being offered on the sales floor. \r \r Eons is fun and worth every penny.

MikePgh, You have no idea what you are taking about . I went to the store in Downtown Pgh. The guy was very helpful when i wanted to sell him my vintage Pittsburgh Steelers collection. He gave me a great fair price for it. I can see why he was annoyed when he is dealing with people from downtown pittsburgh, they probably drive him crazy all day. A++++++...
