Yesterday Morning bout 4am 3 Bears Gift Shop here in Pigeon Forge Caught Fire and the Store is a Complete Loss. The Bears how ever were not Harmed in the Blaze. Will Keep you posted on more News on the 3 Bears Gift Shop and it's plans to Rebuild.

An overnight fire has destroyed a longtime Pigeon Forge gift shop.

At 3:56 am this morning, calls started coming in to Sevier County's 911 center that 3 Bears gift shop on the Parkway was on fire.

By 8:30, all northbound lanes except for one had reopened.

The Pigeon Forge Fire Department responded to the call, with at least 40 fireifighters working the scene.

When they arrived, the building was fully engulfed with flames shooting 50 to 60 feet in the air.

Crews also had to contain a natural gas leak at the site.

The five bears housed in the back of the building are safe in their concrete den, which now lies amid rubble.

""We put some fire streams on that area to keep the fire from getting to them,"" Pigeon Forge Fire Chief Tony Watson said. ""The good thing about bears is they're low to the ground and smoke rises, so our assesment of them is they looked like they were doing fine.""

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency assessed the bears' condition and found no injuries. A caretaker will remain with the bears at all times until they are moved to a temporary holding facility.

The building is a complete loss. The neighboring businesses however, were not damaged.

Investigators with the Pigeon Forge Fire Department are still searching for the fire's cause, and they have not ruled out the possibility of arson.
