Universal Moving Services LLC
I would definitely recommend Universal Moving Services. I had a complicated move and was not looking forward to any drama. I had to quickly move my things out of my 3 bedroom home and into storage for 2 weeks before moving into my new home. Most of my belongings were fairly new and included a 50 inch flat screen TV. I was nervous about the possibility of my furniture being damaged or lost, but after speaking with Taylor, I felt a wonderful sense of relief. His detailed estimate really impressed me. Other moving companies gave me very low estimates in order to get my business but I soon realized that they were not being honest with me about the potential cost of my move. After reading the reviews about these other moving companies, I found out that their plan was to load my belongings onto their truck then they would reveal the real price of the move which I would be forced to pay in order to have my belongings returned to me! Thanks for sending over a wonderful group of guys! They were professional and courteous. They showed up with smiles on their faces which immediately put me at ease. They walked me through their process and let me know step by step what would happen. Everything went smoothly! I appreciate your integrity and I'm glad that there is a moving company out there like yours! Add me to your list of satisfied customers!

Superior Moving Service
VERY IMPRESSED! I had a move scheduled this past Saturday (with a different company who never showed up). I called around and Superior was not only the cheapest but the nicest during the quoting process (I obviously was stressed out due to the circumstances). My movers, Amir and Terrell were AWESOME. They were personable, efficient, organized, careful with my belongings, and got me out of my 2 bedroom apartment (I have enough stuff for a 3 bedroom as I have a 3 year old and 8 year old) and set up in my new place in about 5 hours. I would absolutely recommend Superior Moving, will use them again in the future, and most of all recommend my movers- they made it a 'stress-less' situation!

Superior Moving Service
I was left stranded by another moving company, a half hour before my move time ( b/w 8:30 and 9:30am) due to an expected storm (Hurricane Sandy). At 8:30 am with less than half a block's distance between my old place and my new place, there was still enough safe time for me to move. I took a nap, thinking no one else would be available. However, a few hours later, two moving angels (Charles and David) came knocking at my door, ready to move me. In less than three hours, it was done. The guys were courteous, professional and handled my items with care. Big thanks to Ray for taking my call and setting me up with David and Mike.

I am really very happy with the service that I received from Universal Moving Services. They really showed me what they were capable of! The foreman and his team came on time and began the work straightaway. They had a plan about the move and managed the move in a very professional way. Actually they completed my move before the scheduled time! Nothing was missing or broken. I loved seeing their professionalism and care for my belongings. In my opinion, they are the real moving heroes. I must thank them for providing me a problem free and smooth move.

Superior Moving Service
I have been meaning to write this, it has been about two weeks since we have moved, and moving is exhausting. Superior Moving first of all has the best rates. Second of all they customized are rates to even bring the price down. Two very professional, courtesy young men showed up to do a very efficient move. Packing thins well into the van. Jason and Jose were very polite and efficient. Neat, clean, on time. We couldn't have made this move without them and Superior Moving Company. Thanks guys for doing such a wonderful job.Susan Kinkead /David Wilson

The crew came out to move our family today and we have nothing but great things to say about them! They showed up on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. They stacked everything perfectly in the truck and we were able to get so much more moved than we originally thought. Not only were they great at their job but they kept us laughing through the whole move. Three hours later and all of my furniture is moved from the old house and set up and placed in the new house. Thanks guys for making our move so much easier!

Booked the move from PA to NJ with Taylor, very communicative and responsive. The guys showed up exactly when they told me they would. All 3 of them were very professional. They made sure that all furniture were protected and moved very quickly. The unload was more difficult as they had to move boxes and furniture up three floors but they did a great job of getting everything where it was supposed to go. This is one of the best moving companies that I have ever had and will highly recommend them to anyone! Thanks again guys!

Elvis Dirt Cheap Moving Company
This is the best moving company in Philly. I have used this company about 6 times over the years and it still amazes me the caliber of employees that they have. When it comes to being polite, thorough and hard working, they are in a class by themselves. They wrap fragile pieces with care (Not one item was scratched, or broken). The company is to be commended because it seeems that each new employee is taught the company policy about how customers are to be treated, because they all have the same work ethic.

I must say the movers from Universal are a lot different from the other movers. They organized my move very efficiently. They always asked me before doing anything extra. My furniture was treated carefully. Nothing was damaged. The delivery was on time and they helped me to decorate my new house. I was kept in the loop throughout the move so I was never worried. I did not expect this level of service from these guys. I was so pleased with their service. I would like to recommend them.

Our movers were professional and courteous. The team worked together and was able to complete the entire move in 4 hours, including the load and unload. Our office building was never damaged and all of our belongings were unpacked safely. Never have I encountered such professionals; from the moment I called in for a quote to the team packing up their belongings to leave, I was impressed. I will never use a different company for moving now that I know about Universal Moving Services.
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
