Three Points Automotive
I give them 5 stars because of how they responded to a warranty issue. Took my Infiniti I-35 to them to replace a bad catalytic converter. I picked up the car and after driving it a little bit noticed it still had problems relating to the cat. I took it back to them and they made it right. No shop is perfect 100% of the time, so how a shop responds to a warranty issue is very, very important me. These guys honor their work.

Lamb's Tire & Automotive - Pflugerville
This lamb is terrible, please stay away. I once had tire pressure light on after replacing 4 brand new good year tires and come to this store. They did not check what is wrong and just said it is due to weather and filling some air is good to go. They actually do not want to honer the warranty they sold. I had a nail inside tire and run on highway with my 2 month infant. Please stay away from this rubbish tire service if you want to live longer, especially in Texas! Very, Very terrible store!

Ricardo and everyone else at the Pflugerville location are wonderful! They were able to help me get financing with my challenging credit situation and put me in a truck that keeps going and going. Great family owned business and I will definitely support them in the future. Thanks, guys!

Payless Automotive Repair
So much bad stuff happened at this shop, to long to list... So for the complete story go to:paylessautorepairsucks.c…The short version:Payless Auto Repair (Pflugerville) charged 735.85 for a brake job, had the car 6 months, after 6 months the brakes were still totally non-functional, (as in... the pedal bottoms out on the floor and doesn't stop)Then the owner Ray, ran my classic 1979 Gremlin into the garage wall - doing several thousand dollars worth of damage... and refused to take responsibility... He said it was the car's fault because the brakes didn't work... and was belligerent as all get out yelling at me- He actually said he was going to sue me for the damage to his garage...after he was supposed to fix the brakes... and he wrecked my car...unbelievable!The, he wouldn't give me the keys until the cops forced him to. He said I owed him $65.00 for a consultation fee... where he had to take my car to a different mechanic's shop to figure out how to fix it (which he never got around to doing). Obviously, as a mechanic, he was totally inept... and then there's the whole wrecking my entire fromt end and refusing to take the blame thing.Go to the website listed above to read the entire story ... there's much more to it then what I can write here. It includes pictures of the damage and the bill plus more info.-Terry

Car-X Tire and Auto
Lately we have been fed up with the car repair shops in town. They seem to want to charge us for everything, and it just felt wrong. But when we went to Car-X everything felt right. They were up front about every little thing, what they charged etc. And they knew everything about cars! We were so impressed that we have been going there ever since.

Car-X Tire and Auto
When we bought a “lemon” from someone we didn't know, Car-X helped us fix it up for a decent price. They helped us turn a very bad situation into an okay one. We had to get repairs, but they did such a good job for such a great price that it wasn't too bad for us.

Car-X Tire and Auto
Hey-oh. I, for one, know as much about cars as I do traditional Swedish dancing (so...very little). These folks were great and professional. No surprises...they called me throughout the day to let me know the status of my car and were done on time and on budget. They happily explained all I wanted to know and didn't try to pull a fast one on me.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
