I found it kind of funny how many 1 star 1 review accounts have been made to trash this place (although i'm not really one to talk since i made this account just to point this out) and how many of them were simply copy and paste reviews over a bunch of sites. C'mon guys, if your going to put a place down, at least put in the effort and decency to be somewhat realistic about it. Anyways, I've been going to Zono since it first opened, and I've stuck with it through thick and thin. They had a bit of a quality control problem a few years back, (the food and service might be awesome one day and then fall apart the next) but it seems they've finally got that under control (thank god). I'd suggest the Teppan plates and Sukiyaki, since those are always sizzling hot and warm you up thoroughly. They have a list of speciall appetizers that i love, especially the Firecracker. Its basically spicy tuna on top of crispy fried sushi rice with this tangy sauce. For those days where i really need to be stingy, the lunch combination is at $6.95 now. If you want sushi/sashimi, i don't suggest sitting at the tables. Go for the sushi bar and Ota-san will give you the best service you'll ever see. They have alot of pretty fun rolls, and my personal favorite to date is still the Rainbow Roll. It's like 5 different types of fish on top of a cut roll. They've got a promotion going on at the moment, not too sure what it is. Either buy 2 entrees get 1 free or buy 1 get one half off or something along those lines. Not sure, check their website.
I am definitely a big restaurant consumer and I had the worst restaurant service ever in ZONO SUSHI PASADENA . Our food was seriously over cooked even though we ask for our meat to be medium rare. When we ask the girl for the meat to be changed she had the worst attitude I've ever seen and basically say that's the way we make it if u don't like it live. We go to zono sushi in Burbank all the time and food is delicious and service is excellent, that's why we stop here but obviously is not the same management. AVOID A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, DO NOT EAT HERE !!!!
Stumbled on this place while doing some shopping on Lake. Had a hankering for sushi. The decor is typical sushi place. The service was very good. Whenever I walk into these places I always feel like I'm at the same place. Which is good. I don't think a sushi place needs to have creative decor. Sushi is pretty standardized and a place that does sushi well doesn't have be creative. So I had various pieces of sushi and sashimi. It was really good, the rice was the right temperature and the fish just melted. Great place. Good price.
i really recommend you do not go here. the food was terrible. service was ok and the price didn't really matter if the food was good. the food was horrible. my boyfriend and i had to force the food down just so it wasn't a waste. i totally say DO NOT GO!!!
The tempura was great, not greasy at all. The sushi was a bit fishy and warm. I tried this restaurant for lunch with a friend and she was also unhappy with the sashimi. I don't think I will return.
I used to go to the Zono in Glendale until the Chef quality became, lets say non-authentic. I followed their Japanese Chef to this new Zono and wow does it make a difference. High quality, outstanding bar service. I don't know about the restaurant per-se, but the service it the bar is awesome.
I found this place a few months ago and have become a regular. My friend likes all types of sushi but I am a roll girl. California rolls rock my world and this place has a 1/2 price offer from 5-7 Monday -Thursday that offers a nice selection of appetizers along with California roll and the spicy shrimp roll.
I have had many a California roll but theres is the best in my book.

Why don't people know more about this place? Well, I guess if they don't know, more for me! :)

I eat here all the time w/ my boyfriend. We've tried just a couple of other sushi places around the area and this one is our favorite by far. Service is usually not too good. But there is one man there that's the best waiter. He's one of the taller men. You'll know if it's him. He's awesome. Our sushi always tastes fresh and is well wrapped. It hardly ever falls apart on us. Also their teriyaki salmon is great. This place is pretty inexpensive and parking is easy to find. It's not really upscale, just relaxed. For more romantic experience there's outdoor seating (w/ a little water fountain) that faces Lake Avenue.
My husband and I are sushi freaks... we eat it at least once a week and are always on the lookout for new places. This is NOT one of those! We happened upon it because the restaurant we wanted to eat at was closed. The sushi menu wasn't descriptive at all, and when asked which rolls don't have shellfish in them, the waitress pointed me to several, 3 of which had scallops and crab! The roll I ordered was poorly made... it fell apart immediately! The regular menu item that I ordered was awful. Waiting for 35 minutes for a simple meal might be worth it if the food was good, but it WASN'T. Afterward we waited another 15 minutes until we finally asked a bus boy to get our waitress to bring us our check. Don't waste your time. There are much better sushi restaurants in town, trust me!
