I went into ann margarets after having a horrible experience with an online prom dress retailer. when i learned that i no longer could get the dress i ordered, i called them and went there the same day. As soon as i walked in, everyone made my mom and i feel so comfortable. they weren't pushy or overbearing, either. they found so many dresses, and all of them were well made, good quality dresses, but they weren't too pricey. also, the ladies who worked there couldn't have been nicer and more flexible with my final fitting date. i found my perfect dress and had all the alteration arrangements made before i left that same night. They also told me about their plans for next year's prom season, to make the whole second floor strictly for prom, which would make it easier and less cramped. I would DEFINITELY reccommend ann margaret's to anyone!! :)
This past weekend I took my bridal party of 7 to Ann Margaret's to look at bridesmaid gowns. I went there because I bought my wedding gown there and was pleased with the service. This trip was much different. While the store clerk helping us was not very pleasant from the beginning she was the rudest person I have ever encountered.
We were trying on dresses and because the store is so small we were all cramped into a small corner. While one girl tried on the dresses (we are only entitled to one dressing room accoding to the woman helping us even though others were open) we all stood there watching. One of my bridesmaids who is 8 months pregnant became tired and sat in front of the mirror we were using. The woman working there told her to move out of the way of the mirror. When we all said it wasn't a big deal and she should continue to sit the woman became argumentative with my bridesmaid and when my bridesmaid told her she was 8 months pregnant and needed to sit the woman pointed with her finger, without saying a word, to the front of the store implying she should go sit in front of the store. I was completely taken back by this behavior and told my girls and the store clerk we were leaving. After making a complaint to various employees not one employee apologized for the woman's behavior nor did anyone seem to care we were treated this way.
I walked out of the store and have vowed to spread the word on just how awful the personnel is at this store. I will never recommend this store to anyone. The customer service is awful and obviously they don't care about their customers.
I then went to Alfred Angelo and had a much more pleasant and fun experience there.
I have only done business w/ Ann Margaret's once and I will NEVER again. About three years ago I went there to look for prom dresses (I graduated from Northern Lehigh).
I found a gorgeous dress there and my mother immediately made a down payment. Three weeks later, I brought my best friend to the shop to see if she could also find a dress, but mainly to show off the one I was going to wear. The woman that was working there took down my name and went into the back to retrieve my dress while my friend and I were looking around. She came out and told me that she did not have my $400+ dress and that there was not record that I had even bought a dress at the store.
I left in tears and cried to my mom. She drove down to the store and took care of the matter herself.
After the situation was dealt with and I had my dress, I waited closer to prom to have my alterations. The woman who was fixing my dress was rude and rather impatient. She also seemed rather annoyed every time I asked her a question.
I told all of my friends about the store and how I would never go there again. One of my close girlfriends also told me that she had a similar experience w/ her dress ""not being there."" In addition, a close friend of mine who also bought her dress there discovered that her gown had a foul odor to it when she picked it up. By foul odor I mean dead fish. Her mother had it hanging outside to air out for two days before the dance and performed other household remedies in an attempt to get rid of it. The dress still smelled a little funky and she went to prom nervous and distraught hopeing nobody noticed.
