We stayed here while visiting Palm Springs. We thought the hotel was comfortable and the staff was great. The free breakfast was also great. This is a basic hotel so don't expect anything fancy. It is a comfortable stay that is every easy on the wallet. Plus, you can't beat the central location. You can walk to restaurants and the hubbub of Palm Canyon.

6.Coral Sands Inn
210 W Stevens Rd
It's a motel. A six-unit, pink motel. It was here in Palm Springs before you were a bullet in somebody's six-shooter. Why don't you just high-tail it to some other place to bed down. Rawf! Wait a minute! The guest by the pool is going over to let the nut case in - the guy says he has a reservation. Why does this always happen? Why do so many guests figure they run the place? Louis glowers and turns away. Spam-carving queen Ruby Montana, inaugurator of Seattle's Fat Tuesday Spam-Carving Contest, one-time Kowboy Kitsch Kween of the now-gone Pinto Pony on Second Avenue, today is the purveyor of a little bit of Palm Springs pleasure, along with business partner Calyn Dougherty. Call this place Barbary Lane south. Ever read Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City?" It's a San Francisco newspaper column-turned-books and TV series. You might want to read it or see it before you sign up for a stay the Coral Sands because 28 Barbary Lane, the residence for Maupin's characters, has nothing on this L-shaped pink motel and its guests. And here they all are, at the 1950s vintage hideaway, painted prom-dress pink and white, replete with a kidney-shaped pool and enough just-right, mismatched outdoor furniture to seat every potential guest at least three times. The motel, in its neighborhood of Las Palmas, sits at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The craggy, arid peaks remind you of the incongruity of all the palm trees and bougainvillea planted below - in a desert. It seems at times as if the mountains could simply lean over and step on the lush greenery and the low-slung, star-studded homes and take it all back. Montana still lives with some of her other trademarks - the salt-and-pepper shakers, the cowboy art, the collection of ashtray dolls. She still sells things, still wheels and deals. She still has warehouses full of the stuff. Motel guests will live with similar collections. Roy Rogers and Trigger peer down at them from the walls when they try to get some shuteye. Imagine the Pinto Pony having guest rooms. You've arrived at the Coral Sands. The guests on this particular weekend are Anne and Steve Haertle of San Carlos, Calif., and Linda Farris and John Kucher of Seattle. It is not uncommon to find Seattle people staying in one or more of the units. In fact, it is uncommon not to find a Seattle connection. So - the Haertles have relatives in Seattle. And Linda Farris is the Linda Farris of the former Linda Farris Gallery in Pioneer Square, and her husband, John, is executive director of Threshold Housing, a nonprofit development company in Seattle. "Some of my guests just come and sit and read. One came down here to paint. They want quiet. Others come down because they're attracted to all this... " says Montana, sitting on a lounge chair with a couple of the guests. You'll often find her on one of the lounge chairs with a couple of the guests, or sitting alone all the way across the poolside patio, depending on where the sun is and which room needs to be cleaned, and whether she just wants to be by herself. It is, after all, her place. And it very much belongs to her guests, too. A Westin it's not. ( If that's what you're looking for, continue down the road to The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage. ) The Coral Sands is a comfortable home-away-from-home, with things left just where you put them ( including your sheets, towels and dirty dishes ). It's all Ruby.

17.Caliente Tropics Resort
411 E Palm Canyon Dr
This is one of the best motel values, bar none. Lovely, nicely furnished rooms, good air-conditioning, charming pool/spa area. It's close enough to downtown, yet in a quiet area. Rooms are fairly quiet, too, though it might be I lacked neighbors, since I went at the height of the hot summer, and the place was not full. The front desk is friendly. The continental breakfast is just packaged pastry, juice, and coffee, but you can serve yourself and get all you want. And it's included in the price. Nice outdoor seating area, too. This is where I will stay if I go to Palm Springs again, I'm not even interested in going anywhere else.

Worth your stay! This hotel was very nice and up to date on all the amenities! Staff was very friendly and rooms were extremely comfortable. They have the best customer service always willing to go the extra mile for their guest helps me find great restaurants to eat. Had a great night sleep, very comfortable beds I must say. No bugs, comfortable pillows, and enough towels for guest. The only complaint I have is that I was only staying one night and heading out the next morning. Would love to have stayed longer!

My boyfriend and I called very last minute for a reservation & as luck would have it they had just had a cancellation. It was a little more than we wanted to spend, but worth every penny! The staff, room, wine hour, pool all excellent!!!!!
257 S Patencio Rd
I went here at the end of summer (during an unsual heat wave - it was horrible!) and despite the skin-melting weather this place could not have been better. I have been to PS many many times (and at some of the top spots like The Parker) and I didn't even know this place existed! And so close to the downtown area, too! The staff couldn't have been nicer and the grounds are just so quaint and quiet and rustic ... you truly feel like you're in a different country. At first my fiance was skeptical because the place doesnt have any TVs or radios or phones, but after one night we were loving it. IT truly is a place to unwind and just enjoy a quieter, simpler way to relax. The 'Library' room is great with lots of old books and a little fireplace (which we obviously didnt use) and a bathroom that reminds me of my grandparents' old house. We love the Parker, but this place is a must for that truly 'getaway' experience -- oddly enough the staff said that most people prefer the Mediterranean villas & pool area which are located just across the little road from the main property, but I thought the Moroccan villas and pool were much more charming. I also recommend the on-call massuese they have-- i think her name is Debra; she's blonde. She is THE MOST INCREDIBLE massuese we have ever had!!! (You'd think i'd remember her name since she was so fabulous, but i am bad.) I cannot wait to come back here - it is beautiful and the food they make is delicious. Oh, and the afternoon mint tea with pine nuts swirling on top is such a nice touch. LOve love love this place!

Still the best hipster spot in Palm Springs! Cool live music on certain nights plus weekend pool parties with live DJ....and special events throughout the year.
27.East Canyon Hotel and Spa
288 E Camino Monte Vis
Nice place with a very together and clean room. We stayed in a comfortable room, but didn't feel there was enough windows to allow sufficient light into the room. The staff were very accommodating, but I wouldn't stay here again after I found out the booking & cancellation policies. If you book let's say, for three nights, but stay two, you will be charged for three. Not good. Also the cancellation prices are quite extreme with a default of the first night or 50% of the booking, whichever is greater, if you don't cancel within 5 days. The cancellation policy gets more punitive on holiday stays.
401 E Amado Rd
Best place to gamble and have fun in Palm Springs. Tuk, one of the dealers was not only patient, but a lot of fun. ...she made the night more enjoyable for everyone at the table! !!
29.Vagabond Inn Palm Springs
1699 S Palm Canyon Dr
the pool was my favorite feature - it got a lot of sun, was surrounded by palm trees, and had a nice view of the mountains. the employees were friendly and helpful. their complimentary breakfast was a lot more than I expected... the room was clean and comfortable, although you had to unplug something to plug in the microwave, or your phone charger, etc... the fixtures/decor were a little outdated, but overall, it really was a great value for how much we paid. it's also really close to everything (not far from airport), lots of great stores and restaurants nearby.
30.Desert Flower Properties
610 E Palm Canyon Dr
When my wife and I decided to stay here for our anniversary getaway. We've stayed at a lot of places around the country, from small B&B's to big hotels. Some were nice, some were really nice, but none were as overall amazing as the Desert Riviera. We booked the least expensive room (to save a few dollars), but Larry upgraded us free of charge because a room opened up. The room was huge! It had lots of space to move around, a king sized bed that we could have slept in all day long, retro-chic styling (my wife said that the styling felt exactly how she imagined Palm Springs would feel), a flat screen TV, free wifi internet, a separate kitchenette with a stainless steel mini-fridge/freezer and microwave (as well as dishes and utencils), a good sized bathroom, a remote controlled ceiling fan, two closets...the list goes on and on. Provided free of charge is a basket of goodies (chips, crackers, lollipops...things like that), and the fridge has water and Cokes. No hidden fees here: everything's included. The focal point of the property is a large swimming pool. Beside the pool is a jacuzzi spa, a barbecue, a fire pit, and an abundance of lounge chairs with their own beach towels. Shade is provided by large umbrellas, and a side table holds more towels and sunscreen. At night, candles and LEDs provide ambience, while a light illuminates the pool for nighttime swimming (which we found to be PERFECT after a hot day in the desert). Always available in the lobby were fruit and coffee, DVDs, and Larry. Larry was extremely nice without every being overbearing. He was always available to answer any questions that we had, and before we headed out for the day handed us a frozen bottle of water. He also offered great insights into dining and attractions. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in Palm Springs, there's a lot of places you can find. If you're looking for an almost perfect stay at an extremely reasonable price, the Desert Riviera is the only place to stay.
