Lake Nona Ophthalmology, P.L.
The other day I went to the iSpa at Lake Nona Ophthalmology. This was my first trip to a medical spa. Once I entered the office, I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff and was checked in for my appointment. After sitting for just a few minutes, I was brought back by Dr. Patel for my initial consultation. We went over my medical history and he asked me if I had any questions or concerns. I’m 29 and still get random acne break outs. I’ve been to dermatologists before, but now I am looking for a different approach for treating my acne. Besides wanting to have clear skin, I also want to start trying to maintain a youthful appearance. Even though I’m only 29, I feel that sooner is better than later when it comes to keeping up with the health of my skin! After I was finished with my consultation with Dr. Patel, he introduced me to his Aesthetician, Angie. She was very nice and brought me into a relaxing room where iSpa patients are treated. I told her my concerns and she agreed that coming in at my age was a great idea. Angie preformed a mini-facial, also known as a “lunch-time” facial. The practice is offering free mini-facials and consultations for all new patients right now, so I was sure to take advantage of such a deal. She evaluated my skin and then discussed what she thought would be the best course of treatment for my face. Angie informed me of the different products she thought would help and explained how they worked and how to use them. I never felt pressured to buy anything, but did leave with a product that I will use every day that will benefit my skin. I 100% plan on going back for another facial and look forward to my next relaxing visit to the iSpa at Lake Nona Ophthalmology.

I must admit that I'm absolutely paranoid about quality eye care, especially since my mom lost her sight. Fortunately, I was introduced to Dr. Carl Gaterbaum by my brother after moving here seven years ago. My every concern has been addressed in detail, and I have total confidence that my eyes are being well cared for.Dr. Gaterbaum is the epitome of professionalism. He is extremely knowledgeable about anything relating to your eyes. A warm and sensitive man, he is kind, caring, an attentive listener, And he has invested in the most sophisticated eye care technology to scrutinize every nuance of your eyesight. You'll quickly discover that he truly cares about you!For my eyes, he discovered a number of issues over these seven years, all now being treated and consistently monitored. For example, he caught the onset of glaucoma, detected a rise in my eye pressure, found that the canals above my eyes were narrowing; he has referred me to a carefully chosen specialist for evaluation of those canals, as well as the possible removal of cataracts, which should help my sight immensely. The office staff is also wonderful, thorough in every way; nothing slips through the cracks. It is led by Shelley, with a wealth of experience and a crackerjack in all matters concerning your well-being as it relates to the front office. Nothing is a problem for Shelley; you'll be in good hands. To be perfectly candid, I love this team, particularly its sensitivity and obvious concern for all of us. I owe my brother a huge debt of gratitude because, without his referral, my eyes might well be in dire straits.

I hardly ever write reviews but I thought the service was atrocious. I can't stress enough how important office staff is to a Doctor's office. Dr. Guzak was great. He was very professional and thorough with my daughter's exam. One of the ladies at the front desk was very rude. I don't know if she has a bias towards people who don't look like her or if she was having multiple bad days but the 3 times I saw her in the office, she didn't smile and was very abrupt. My daughter ended up getting very expensive eyeglasses and contacts. When we came in to pick up the eyeglasses, this particular staff member looked put off and said the contacts were not in. We stopped in a few weeks later and again this staff member said the contacts were not in. I soon forgot about them until my daughter reminded me about them a few days ago. Now, 4 months later, I stopped by the office and finally picked them up. The rude woman was not working this particular day. The office person had to rifle through cabinets to look for them. They never once called me to let me know the contacts had arrived.

My husband and I have been coming to this office for 10 years. The doctor and staff are always very pleasant, professional and efficient. I love that when we walk in the door, they know our name-- we aren't just a number. The exams are always thorough and the Dr. Smith is very nice and down to earth. I never feel rushed, which is a plus because I hate feeling rushed at any doctors appointment. I like fun, brand-name frames. They always help me pick out the latest styles that look best on me. The hardest part is picking just one! I send all of my friends, co-workers and family here because I love their stellar customer service and I know they will treat my friends and family with the same care. Definitely the BEST eyecare in town!

Orlando Eyecare is the best office in town. Not only is Dr. Smith knowledgeable and friendly, so is the staff. It's located so that it's easy to get to from any part of town, and I have never had to wait long for my appointments. I have told all my friends and family about my great experiences and a number of them have switched from their old eye doctor to Dr. Smith. If you are looking for an eye care office, this place is for you.

My family has been going to orlando Eyecare for more than 40 years. Drs Devine and Smith have been professional, friendly, and , most of all, helpful with our variey of eyecare needs. Several of us have moved out of the area, but I still come to Dr. Smith every year for my check-up and glasses even though I now live about 40 miles away. Service you can trust at an affordable price!

Very pleased to find this place after visiting many eyeglass stores without success. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to find an excellent set of frames within my price range, and the lenses will have a premium coating, transitions and some other desirable features at a surprisingly low price. Definitely the best eyeglass place I have found in Orlando! Highly recommend.

It takes me forever to make decisions, especially with all the glasses they have to choose from but the staff found me a great pair and I couldn't be happier with my new glasses!..I get tons of compliments on them. Dr. Nowell was great and very thorough with explaining everything throughout my exam. I will definitely be bringing the rest of my family here!

Dr Marrian Tucker is by far the best optometrist I've ever been to. She's very professional and takes her time in examining your eyes. I've been seeing her since '09 and she recently opened up her own office. I can't thank her and her staff enough for how comfortable they make me feel and the superb service they provide.

I've always had a great experience with Dr. Tucker. Her office is efficient with exams starting promptly. Everything is explained in clear, concise terms. Her diagnosis has always been accurate and her contact lens recommendations have proven to be exceptional.
Tips & Advices
While the first appointment is the most comprehensive, the majority of appointments with an ophthalmologist begin with a basic eye exam followed by a refraction to test if glasses are needed. Other tests might include an eye muscle coordination exam, a check of pupil response and peripheral vision, slit lamp microscope test to look at the anterior segment of the eye, and an intraocular pressure assessment.
Most eye doctors will charge different amounts for their services, but a basic eye exam with an ophthalmologist can range from $50 to $300. Additional tests and treatment will add to the price.
Ophthalmology subspecialties include strabismus/pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, retina/uveitis ophthalmology, cornea/anterior segment ophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic surgery, and reconstruction.
Ophthalmologists can diagnose macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, ocular albinism, vitreous traction, cataracts, astigmatism, myopia, retinoblastoma, and many more.
The most popular ophthalmology procedures are cataract, laser eye treatment, and glaucoma surgeries.
