We contacted Blankenship to refinish the cabinets in our kitchen, laundry room and three bathrooms. Sue Blankenship came to our home, evaluated the project and took measurements. We then went to their studio and picked colors and hardware. On this visit we meet with Carla Blakenship, Sue's daughter. We were given a written quote of just under $9,000. Blankenship came and picked up the doors from all of our cabinets to refinish them. They then called to say that if we refinished the Jack and Jill cabinets but changed the plumbing, the drawers would not open and could not be used. We had not thought about that and it was not mentioned at either previous meeting with them. We were told we needed to order new cabinets for this room. We did.We later receive a phone call that the master bedroom cabinet will not work and will need to be replaced as well. We did that.We then were told that they had accidentally painted our cabinets that were to be stained expresso. They were now painted in French country white. They asked if we were OK with them leaving them this way. We said no. They said that would mean they had to strip them and start over. They did that at our request.I provided hardware with instructions to Carla. The installers drilled holes in the new cabinets in the wrong place because they used the wrong pulls. The garbage can pull out was charged at $300 and was a $15 wire rack. I called and was told that was a mistake and they would replace it. We ultimately spent over $20,000 to complete the project that was originally quoted at $9,000. There was no change in the cabinets to be done or the scope of work. Blankenship simply kept coming back saying that the original plan would not work and now we needed to buy new cabinets. Finally, we asked for all the doors back from the cabinets that were to have been refinished. We still had all the boxes of the cabinets that were removed. We were told, "You should have told us you wanted them. We probably don't have them anymore." About 2/3 of the doors were returned making the remaining cabinets useless.Blankenship was a nightmare to deal with. Their quality appears to be average. Their attention to detail is very poor. One positive is that they are kind and pleasant people, just not good at what they do. Go elsewhere.
Overpriced CRAP, and CRAP customer service. Ordered a $1,000 legged bathroom vanity from these guys. Was told it would way around 200 pounds. When we got the vanity, the weight on the box said 500 pounds. We tried to lift it. The vanity does, in fact, weigh 500, not 200 pounds. We would not have purchased the vanity had we been given the correct information. We have no way to lift a 500 pound vanity ourselves. The company offers delivery. They left the vanity left it at the curbside. To bring it into the house would have been another $100. Even if they would have moved it into the house, they wouldn't have helped us move it into the bathroom, and they also can't help install the "feet" of the legs.Went to the store to see if they had any suggestions for companies that help move 500 pound vanities and then install the feet on the legs. Representative we spoke with at the store, a short, hispanic female, was very rude. Said we shouldn't need help moving that vanity and that she supposedly lifts and moves them all the time. This same female representative recommended tipping the vanity on its back to install the feet on the legs, and then tipping the vanity up. This is NOT a good way to do this, as if you place too much weight/pressure on the two bottom legs as you pivot the vanity up, those legs can snap from the weight. We ended up having to pay professional movers $100 to move the vanity for us and install the legs. They had to use 3 men and a piano dolly.Vanity arrived damaged and flawed. Really just a piece of over-priced CRAP. NOT worth $1000 at all. If I'm paying $1,000 for a vanity, I don't expect drawers and pieces of molding to be markedly crooked, nor do I expect there to be gouges out of the marble countertop.Has been an absolute nightmare dealing with customer service to try and get replacement parts to try and repair the drawer. They offered to send a new vanity; however, we would have had to bring the old vanity into the store, or at least move it out to the curb. (#1 - the vanity won't fit in our Toyota Camry, and #2 - we can't move the thing anyways.) And even if we were able to move the vanity out to the curb, they wouldn't move the new vanity into the bathroom nor install the legs. They also wouldn't have paid the $100 that we initially paid professional movers to again have the vanity moved into the bathroom and have the legs installed. This is a JOKE of a company. Seriously, do NOT purchase anything from here. #1) The products are CRAP. Poorly poorly constructed. I wouldn't be surprised if they purchase rejects from other companies and then sell them at astronomical prices. #2) The customer service is a joke.We are so, so sorry we purchased our vanity from here.
