Dr. Zikra and her staff, to me, exemplify what the patient experience should be. Dr. Zikra (and staff) demonstrate an understanding that people are the heart and soul of a medical office. This is conveyed by their kindness, sincerity and competence in delivering services to patients. As a person Dr. Zikra is warm, friendly, and sincere. She routinely demonstrates these qualities in dealings with her patients as well as in her interactions with her staff. She genuinely treats all people kindly and respectfully. Dr. Zikra demonstrates a command of current knowledge in explaining my condition and treatment that gives me feelings of confidence and well being. Dr. Zikra explains facts carefully and fully. She listens carefully to questions. Her responses provide information while at the same time allaying apprehensions.Dr. Zikra’s Physician Assistant, Ann brings with her no less the friendliness and competence of Dr. Zikra. She is cordial, patient, careful and thorough. Dr. Zikra has as fine a staff as you are likely to find. Without exception each is welcoming, friendly and competent in their duties. The staff appears to work cordially together even while not in the presence of the Doctor. She has assembled a staff of good people who do good work in meeting patient needs.Dr. Zikra sets the tone for her office and her staff reflects that positive attitude in their attention to and dealings with her patients.

First I would like to say that 5 stars is not enough for this wonderful office. A Dr.s office is one place that most people feel anxious in, but I did not at all in this office. From the moment you walk in you know that this office is one of the best in all Orlando. The staff are friendly and professional and very sincere. I have been to many dr.s offices in my time and usually I am met with a dry nonchalant attitude, but NOT HERE, everytime I go in I am greeted with a smile and treated with respect. The reception area is always clean and organized and I have never had to wait an egregious amount of time to be admitted. I really appreciate not only my dr. but also the staff. When I come in they take the time to go around the counter to personally hand me the paperwork to sign in because it is hard for me to reach on my own. They are really considerate and don't treat me like just another number on the list. I would highly recommend this office to anyone and as long as my health requires it I will go there.

Worth the 45 minute drive! I came from another office that gave you a run around for your money and it also included rude staff. That said, Dr. Zikras office was a completely different experience right out of the the gate. Dr. Zikra and her staff are extremely friendly, warm and caring towards the patients. Very up front, no run around, or unnecessary visits. For people who need to see an endocrinologist on a regular basis or for a lifetime for that matter...being able to see a doctor that truly is going to do what's best for you (and not break the bank) is most important. I would highly recommend Dr. Zikra and her staff!

I have been Dr. Zikra's patient for 9 years and I know all of the staff by name. She is an excellent doctor and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I went to all of the endocrinologists in Orlando but none helped me as much as she did. She always takes her time with me and explains as well as answers all of my questions. The office manager is the sweetest lady and is willing to help no matter what. I have recommended many of my friends to Dr. Zikra and all of them have been pleased with her service and level of knowledge. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone. Dr Zikra is a real doctor. -Msmith

Excellent doctor, really knows her stuff and is very friendly. Always has a smile on her face from the moment she walks into the room. She explained to me what I had and how we were going to treat it. She put me on the proper medication and my symptoms were gone. I go in for a check up every few months and she adjusts my medications accordingly. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor.

Tips & Advices
A metabolic disorder is a condition that occurs when the body's metabolic process is disrupted by dysfunctional chemical reactions. Some types of metabolic disorders are inherited, and these are usually caused a defective gene. Metabolic disorders may also be caused by a compromised liver or pancreas. The symptoms of this condition may include seizures, lethargy, weight loss, and jaundice.
Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's ability to generate or respond to insulin. Insulin is a hormone that's made by the pancreas, and it impacts your body's ability to properly manage its blood sugar levels. Diabetes can cause sugars to build up in the blood, and this can result in health problems such as heart disease, blindness, and kidney failure. In severe cases, diabetes may lead to amputations of the lower extremities.
Endocrinologists are doctors, and they must obtain a medical degree from an accredited medical school and meet certain requirements before beginning work as licensed physicians. An endocrinologist must complete an undergraduate pre-medical degree, four years of medical school, a three-year residency in internal medicine, and two to three years of fellowship training in endocrinology.
Part of the endocrine system, the pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain. The pituitary gland weighs about 0.5 grams and is about the size of a pea. It is often known as the body's "master gland" due to its role in overseeing the growth, development, and functioning of the body's other endocrine glands.
Osteoporosis is a bone disease in which tissue loss causes bones to become fragile and brittle. With this disease, bones are at a higher risk from damage and breaking. In severe cases of osteoporosis, even a sneeze or a minor bump can cause bones to break. Osteoporosis is commonly seen in those who are 50 and older, and it can be detected via a bone density test.
