Selling or buying your home is probably the single most important financial decision you will make, so it only makes sense to shop intelligently for the best realtor to help advice you. Don't just go with a friend or a friend's friend, do some real comparison shopping. When we were getting ready to sell our house, we interviewed 4 realtors from 4 different agencies. Two said the house was great and to put it on the market just the way it was. The other two said put some money into the house to update it. Susan was one of these realtors but unlike the others she had a vision for what would make our house unique and sell quickly. She guided every decision from paint, carpet, granite and appliances. Her staging company from Tacoma was one of the most critical decisions. End results, WE SPENT $16,000 but RECEIVED $100,000 more in our sales price, then the other realtors suggested. Susan listed the house on Friday, held an open house on Saturday after alerting the top realtors for waterfront and water view property. Monday we had a contract and another one as back up. The second one was an all-cash offer. Be careful, some realtors will try to "buy the listing," with inflated suggested listing prices. Susan came prepared with comps, statistics, timelines and answered every question thoughtfully and intelligently. She was equally informed and careful working with buyers from the conversations I overheard during 3 months of working with her.
