Unleashed Pet Grooming School
I'm a student a week away from graduating at Unleashed. I cannot say enough about Jackie and her ability as an instructor. She is one of the most patient, gentle, and relatable people I've met in general. She truly cares about animals. All of them. No exceptions. Even the ones who may not be so cute or nice. And trust me, there are plenty of those. She has a system to advance individuals, and I believe she customizes that per student, based on their comfort level and how quickly they catch on. She would never throw something at you she didn't feel confident you could do (with supervision and instruction, of course), BUT she also doesn't allow students she can tell are ready to NOT do something new because they may feel unsure of themselves unnecessarily. What she does takes more finesse than one might imagine. I know I couldn't do it! She finishes up each dog/cat ensuring they go out the door looking just as good, and in many cases even BETTER than a full priced salon, and at DEEPLY discounted prices. She has worked very hard to get where she is today, and she more than deserves it. She's a genuine person who would help any human or any dog/cat/squirrel/ferret/etc, etc, etc no matter what. I also should add that she has old students come in all the time just to visit. That alone should speak to what kind of teacher she is. I feel very indebted to Jackie, and also her assistant instructor, Amy. If you love animals and want to have a career dealing with them, but don't want to have to see heartbreaking situations like you would working for a vet, go to Unleashed. Pay attention, learn & become successful as a Groomer! Amanda

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
This review is written from the perspective of a former student. Before graduation: Jackie (the owner) starts all of her students out easy, with baths and all-over shaves, and eases them into the more intricate cuts over time. I never felt uncomfortable or rushed to move forward in the curriculum. However, I left feeling (almost) fully capable of grooming professionally. In addition to the great education, the environment at Unleashed was fantastic! Jackie, as well as her assistant, Amy, is incredibly helpful and PATIENT. I asked certain questions more than once and heard my classmates do the same, but our instructors always answered them with the most tolerant and professional demeanor. After graduation: I’ve interviewed at two different grooming shops, and both have told me that they’ve heard wonderful things about Unleashed. These are our potential employers, and they have nothing but good things to say about this school! The job I decided to take chose me over someone who had FIVE YEARS of experience grooming…at a less sophisticated level. And, on the first day at work, the manager asked me for Jackie’s phone number so that she could call and thank her for giving me such good training!Bottom line, if you’re willing to show up, follow instruction, and take things seriously, you’ll be on your way to being an excellent groomer by the time you graduate. I can’t say enough good things about this course.

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
I have 3 small dogs. One is a maltese/shih tzu so her hair quickly grows. I've taken my chihuahua & dachshund in for routine baths & nail-grinding. They've been to Unleashed every 6 weeks for 4 years or so. I've also taken my other dog in for bath, shaving, nail-grinding. Not once have I encountered anything but a cheerful atmosphere by both the owner & the students. My dogs tell me they enjoyed their visit by the fact they wag their tail each time we pull into the parking lot. In fact, one dog was shivering all the way there & once she realized where she was, her tail was wagging non-stop. Another dog was a rescue dog & is afraid of a lot. Had she been mistreated at all, she'd show signs. She always loves going to Unleashed. I've on rare occasions used other commercial pet groomers & the prices are almost twice as high & I've personally seen my dog left unattended on the grooming table. Never at Unleashed though! They're treated great, come out smelling & feeling wonderful. Great haircut each time. I can't recommend Unleashed Pet Grooming enough!

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
I wouldn't say I was one of the best students, I'm deaf and have other medical issues. Jackie has worked with me through it all. She is one of the best teachers I have ever came across. Even when I messed up she let me know the problem areas and helped me go back over them. I understand people are leaving bad reviews about how Jackie overworks the students and working them like a sweatshop. That is pure bullhooey. From my understanding even from working as an apprentice and a bather in grooming shops before I went to Unleashed the rule to being a successful groomer is to keep a clean shop. So not only is she teaching her students to groom, she's teaching them what to know about keeping a clean salon. There is no cruelty to animals, if there is any cruelty towards animals by a student they are immediately removed from school never to return.

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
I attended Unleashed Pet Grooming School and it is a great school! Jackie the owner and Amy her assistant are great, they are very nice and very patient with every student. Weather you are interested in attending school or just taking your pet up there to be groomed is a great choice. You learn scissoring to which I found that other schools do not teach and that is a great skill to have! Jackie also makes sure you feel comfortable with what you are doing and doesn't move you on to the next thing until she feels you're ready which the way she shows you to do things makes it easy to learn and doesn't take long which is great! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know because the prices are also great and you always get your pet back looking awesome!

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
I am a former student of Unleashed and I just graduated November 1st. The instructors here are amazing and know exactly what to teach the student to get them going in the life of grooming. Not only do they help with the grooming experience, but they also help you with running a business and show you what exactly you will need for tools. They are also the only school around that teaches Scissoring. Its a great thing to know and learn!! These wonderful instructors help create a wonderful environment to work in.If I had to pick a place for my furry critters to go, it would be Unleashed. The students do great and the people running the place have great heads on their shoulders. They run it well and I would never expect anything terrible from them.

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
So grateful for this school. Jackie is a bright and warm instructor who made each of us feel confident we could all be successful if we worked hard and had true love for these animals. I know that I am very shy of criticism and Jackie and her manger/instructor, Tim, made me feel welcome to ask questions without fear of feeling uncomfortable or stupid. It is a fun and warm atmosphere that lends to a great learning environment. The skills I acquired at Unleashed Pet Grooming School helped afford me a great job at a upscale salon in Edmond just a few weeks after I graduated! So many wonderful things I can say about this place. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is wanting a fulfilling job in Pet Grooming!!! - Shelby S.

Unleashed Pet Grooming School
Best choice ever!!! I looked into multiple grooming schools in both Texas and Oklahoma and definitely made the right choice in Unleashed Pet Grooming School. Jackie’s incredible knowledge of pet health, pet grooming and business sense stems from her extensive prior experience first as a bather and then as a groomer in a busy grooming salon and then her years of experience running her own salons and grooming school. The experience was amazing and fun and I learned so much from Jackie and her staff. Most of all the confidence I gained to become a successful business owner and accomplished pet groomer is priceless. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!! Best choice ever!!!

Academy Of Dog Grooming Arts
This school is amazing! I went and visited three schools in okc and as I walked in the door I knew this was the school I wanted to go to. The teachers are friendly and understanding. I came in knowing how to handle dogs and clippers but needed to get certified for my job and I was worried about being bored and not learning anything but I started learning new and better grooming technics the first day I was there and they challenged me every day with a new style or new hair type until I could do all the styles when my 10 weeks where up. I had an awesome experience and was sad to see it end. I recommend this school over all the grooming schools in okc.
Tips & Advices
Some pet groomers have viewing areas where owners can sit and watch their pets being treated. Most prevent owners from being in the same room as the pet, however, as the owner's presence might cause the pet to become too excited.
Pets that cannot interact with strangers do not make good professional grooming candidates. Sometimes medication can help, but some groomers don't take animals that have been sedated. If a pet becomes too unruly, a groomer may end the session entirely.
It's best to fully vaccinate pets before bringing them to their first grooming appointment. Dogs should receive the DA2PPC vaccine, which stands for canine distemper, canine andenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus, and parainfluenza. It's also a good idea to vaccinate dogs against Bordedatella (aka “kennel cough”). In fact, New York City requires dogs receive both DAPP and Bordetella shots. Cats, meanwhile, should get the FVRCP vaccine: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus infection, and panleukopenia. In addition, all pets should be up to date on their rabies shots. Owners should wait at least 24 hours after getting their pet vaccinated before bringing it to the groomers.
Technically, there is no such thing as a pet that is too old for a professional groomer. In fact, older pets with joint or mobility issues often can't groom themselves and need someone else to clean them. However, pets that are blind, deaf, or have serious medical issues might not do well at a groomer, especially if the person is inexperienced. Owners should feel free to ask potential groomers about their understanding of elderly pet issues. Often, older pets will exhibit puppy-like behavior and squirm or yelp during grooming. Alternatively, they might not be able to stand for long periods of time. As such, grooming an older pet usually takes more time than grooming a young one.
Puppies and kittens should be at least 10 weeks old before their first professional grooming session. They should be used to being gently handled by strangers and comfortable being separated from their owners for a few hours at a time.
