These reviews have a purpose…if you're thinking, “Ah, just a few aggravated people that have left bad reviews - this place can't be that bad” Wrong!! Listen folks, stay as far away from this place and these people as possible unless you want your vacation ruined. I booked three months in advance, for an ocean front room for my family for 10 days in July 2015. I was called on my way to the beach and told there was a problem with my room. They either double booked it or it had mold in it…they said they had to move me to another hotel for the first 3 nights. I was told by Ken (management), this was all they had, no other choice or don’t check in. After 3 nights I would then get moved again to yet another hotel for the rest of the week. Neither of which was the hotel i originally booked. To keep this review short – let’s get to it...my wife and I spent the first 3 nights sleeping on the floor as the unit was not even big enough to use an air mattress and no way could we all sleep in this unit (it slept less people than what we booked), all while having a view of a noisy parking deck and a marsh swamp...which was capped off by then being sent back to another room mid vacation. In the second room I had to actually remove the pipes and fix an hvac leak myself (as well as spend 3 hours cleaning up 1/8 of an inch of standing water in the kitchen). Both rooms they put us in had a vomit smell in them, things were torn, dirty, ripped, several electrical outlets didn't work...lights that didn't work...i could go on but you get the point. I'm not really even complaining about the general cleanliness issues - i would have accepted that, just the lack of effort by Myrtle Grand to work with me on some sort of partial refund for the downgraded room as well as the troubles of the last minute room changes all while trying to salvage my vacation! Their advertised rooms are neglected…I feel sorry for the actual owners of these units that have them in their rental program (not surprisingly, some of them have left reviews here as well) .The staff/manager/owner of Myrtle Grand Vacations (Gina, Candi, Ken and Walter) which I dealt with, will lie to you. Gina and Candi seem nice...they probably are, but I have placed 21 phone calls to them over the course of almost 3 weeks and have gotten nowhere because they have to wait on management. Ken who states he is the manager can't make any decisions on his own so i'm not sure what his purpose is and the entire staff will just keep putting you off. Hopefully, if you have read this review to this point, whether you are a renter or a unit owner you will take my warning and go elsewhere – they have a very specifically detailed rental contract you have to sign that covers them carefully in all these scenarios...they have it this way for a reason! I predict a response to this review similar to all their negative BBB reviews along the lines of “the customer was offered a FULL refund”…that's just not true and it's not that simple, so don't let a response like that offset this review or their BBB complaints, if you do, just as I did, you'll be writing a similar review very soon. In the time it takes you to read the next review, you can easily search the internet and find another rental company with much better services and staff to handle your vacation...and probably at a much lower price...so I recommend doing that...save yourself the trouble, you are saving nothing by using Myrtle Grand Vacations.
“Reviews are important”This unit is VERY tired! The furniture is worn, example- dining room table chair seat covers are all torn, and bed coverings old and stained. The overall cleanliness was also very disappointing. This unit has a beautiful wall of windows, which were covered in hand prints. Every piece of furniture was dusty, and mirrors in the bathrooms were dirty. The tile floors we dirty in the corners and behind doors, with hair and debris. This unit says it sleeps 10, and it can definitely do that, very spacious, but there are only 2 towels per bedroom, so that is 6 towels for our 8 people. The only response I got from the rental company was there is a washing machine. I don't know what family on vacation has time to wash towels after 6 people take their shower, before the last two people can get ready. I don't want to share a towel! Do you? Also there are no bathmats. The kitchen- we are here as a family on Father's day, and I can't make a cake. Mind you I brought my own pan, and ingredients, but this fully equipped kitchen does not have a mixer. We could not cook as a family in this rental because it does not have basic essentials. No towels, only 2 washcloths. So all of these things were disappointing to say the least, but when I pulled back the bed, the sheets were brand new, never been washed!!! Ugh would you sleep on brand new sheets without washing them first? That was the last straw! Horrible experience! I would not recommend staying here until, they update the unit, get a new linen service, and cleaning company!
