Ron's Automotive
I was born in Norman and have been going to Ron's Automotive since I first started driving. I have always appreciated the extra mile they go to help out their customers. When I needed a ride back to my house I could get one. If I needed to pick the car up after they closed, I could call and have someone stay a bit late (not too late) so I could get there to pick it up after they would have closed. Now I will say that over the years the news has not always been good as some of my repairs have been expensive, but at least Ron's was able to work with me on payment for fixing my car.My friends were suspicious of Ron's when I recommended them because they thought "No one is that good." However, after getting several quotes on the work for their car Ron's was the lowest by several hundred dollars and Ron's was willing to do the work in a day or two unlike the other places. Ron's definitely made a convert that day I can tell you. They are the most honest and trustworthy garage I have ever been at. If it is broken they will give you a fair and honest price for fixing it, and they get it done right the first time. I just had my car in the shop (Dec 2015) and they replaced my battery for free, since it was under warranty and they called me to make sure I wanted to do the oil change early. I told them, if it doesn't need the oil change then we can wait on that. Other places would have just gone ahead and done the oil change since I said I thought it needed one. Their work is always top notch, done quickly with plenty of communication, which I appreciate. If you are reading this trying to decide whether to use Ron's or not, I say give them a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Norman Automotive Inc.
I began going to Norman Automotive in May, 2011. I still take my car there and have no complaints at all! I'm surprised by these 2 negative reviews. I would think the best time to price a repair would be BEFORE the repair is made. Many times I've purchased something in a store, then see it for less the following week, but that doesn't make the store a bad store. Prior to NA, I went to a different repair shop in Norman, one that is listed on here with 5 stars, and I can tell you the oil changes got more and more expensive and then the final straw was that I was told I needed some other repairs totaling over $1000. I just had this gut feeling and it turned out those repairs were not needed at all. Something that is VERY VALUABLE to me is that I TRUST Jimmy & John at Norman Automotive. As a single woman, I can tell you I've been ripped off at many places, but not here! When I first began to go here, I called around to compare prices and NA was always the cheapest. I don't even bother to call around any more. Norman Automotive has done small to large repairs on my autos and I am a satisfied customer!

Sooner Auto Service
May 23, 2013AMAZING! I googled a auto service to help my boys who were stranded on the highway.Their van had broke down it was starting to get dark outside and they needed immediate help in getting their van to a shop to get it running again.I called Sooner Auto Service after hours. Daniel answered and he immediately went to work on getting my boys off the highway. He hung up with me and called my sons and asked what mile marker they were at and called in a tow truck for the van to be towed. He brought boys to his shop. The boys were on a road trip to Colorado to sing and had a gig scheduled for their band performance. It was urgent they get back on the road as soon as possible.Daniel was able to fix the problem that same night! He took such good care of the band. I am so thankful as a mom that Daniel took my concerns for their safety and acted immediately to resolve the uncertainty i was feeling! You should use them for your auto care you will be just as HAPPY as we are!! :)God Bless you!Tami Mitchell (mom)& TREESIDE Band from Rockwall, TX Blaine and Brady Mitchell, Dave, Bryson Funk, & Jon Franks

Auto Valet Full Service Carwash
I wanted to get my seats shampooed. They weren't dirty (no spots, liquids ever spilled, etc.). I just wanted the normal dust accumulation of a 6 year old car to get cleaned and get a fresh smell. Mediocre cleaning, no dry vacuum prior to wet (some dust particles and lint are still present where seams are). Shampoo smells like cheap outside car wash detergent. When I expressed my dissatisfaction the employee did not know how to respond. On another occasion employees told me how they cleaned some sticky asphalt spots on car's exterior, pretty much begging for a tip. Ugly practice. I tip without being reminded.Bottom line - if you have a dirty, filthy car - that is your place - you will be impressed. If you are an affluent individual who has no time for that, just do it, You can also buy a new car when it gets dirty enough anyway. f you care about your car don't get it shampooed there. You could do a better job yourself. Good exercise too. Now that I think about it, my car is clean because I have never had it "cleaned" at places like that.

Sooner Auto Service
Took my car in Saturday morning because it was vibrating, making noises, and stalling. Not to mention eating up all my money for gas (which is strange because it's a Buick). I'll admit when I first saw the building it didn't look pretty and passing by you would think they were out of business with how old it looked. But I decided to take the chance and have them check out my car and I'm glad I did! I explained the problems my car was having and they ran a test on it and got back to me within 30mins of giving them the keys and explained to what was wrong and how it was affecting my car. They were very courteous and respectful. They were able to get my car fixed within a few short hours and I could definitely feel the difference when I pulled my car out of their parking lot. I'll definitely be going back to them for all my car related issues.

Norman Automotive Inc.
One of the best automotive repair shops I have ever been to. I've lived all over the country and found only 1 that compares to Norman Automotive, Inc. They are honest, fair and great for my wallet. I always feel great sending my wife there, as I know that she nor I will get taken. I've even priced checked them before on a major service and they came in $200 cheaper than 5 other shops I called and $600 cheaper than a dealer. Great service, great prices and great mechanics. Finding a better full service automotive would be a real challenge and not worth your time when you could just go there. Thank you Norman Automotive for the service, trust and care you give both my car and myself!

Brookhaven Automotive
Last year I had my AC in my car fixed in Dallas. When I turned the AC on this year to use it was not working. Luckily I was told my parts were still under warranty. I took it in hoping not to pay anything since it was under warranty unfortunately I was told I had to pay for the Freon to figure out where the leak was. I would drive it for a week and come back. I was a little upset because I was not planning on paying that day. So they took off the cost for the Freon they had already put in to my car so I only owed them so looking at it (which wasn't ideal but was still awesome). They had it looked over pretty fast.

Terry's Automotive
Terry's saved me a lot of money. After my purse got caught when I closed the door on my 2004 Toyota Tundra the door handle was loose on one side. A couple of auto shops told me they would have to order a new handle, have it painted and installed. They declined to pull the door panel to see what the problem actually was. Terry's removed the interior door panel and found a bolt had come loose and was in the bottom of the door. They reinstalled that single bolt and now my door handle is solid and secure again. Hoorah for men who can make their brains and hands cooperate to solve a problem!

Rush Automotive
Steve at Rush Automotive was the most helpful mechanic I have ever had. He was recommended to me by the Autozone up the street to fix a suspected problem with a wheel bearing. Not only did Steve show me that the problem was not as severe as imagined he found the part that I needed and replaced it in 1 day saving me hundreds. In the process of doing this he noticed the power steering was low and refilled it with no charge. This was the most pleasurable auto repair experience I have ever had. Steve is a honest mechanic. A+
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
