Not surprised as they're owned by Goldman Sachs but this is the worst living experience I've ever had...elevator breaks down monthly, less than half the washing machines work, we have a bulge in our bathroom wall unaddressed, the electricity trips frequently on light useage, dishwasher does not work, there's a crack in the ceiling...this would have been a terrible value experience at a rent level 1/3 lower...disgraceful negligent behaviour by the managers!
I just moved out of an apartment managed by BLDG after 1 year and it is the worst management company I've ever dealt with in the city. The men that work in the building, doormen, porters and the super are all extremely rude, obnoxious and they shamelessly mistreat those who don't shower them with money like the penthouse renters who toss them 20's every time a package is being held for them in the lobby. BLDG Management is owned by the thieves of Goldman Sachs, the company responsible for bringing down the quality of life in America with greed and for their own profits. And their lack of morals trickles right down to all the staff that are a part of BLDG management.
I had an instance where I broke up with a guy who I was only seeing for a few months. He turned out to be a bit stalker-ish and came to my apartment uninvited. Not only did the doormen let him pass the lobby as if he lived there, but when he came up to my apartment and realized I wasn't there, the guys downstairs TOLD THEM WHERE I WENT! The porters are very obnoxious as well. If you want to start your day by being greeted with men who NEVER smile, are NEVER polite and make it apparent that they HATE their lives and jobs, BLDG management's building on 68th st is the one for you. The building constantly had water pipe problems where it would spew out brown water for days at a time without notice, they turn off the heat during the day in the winter when most people are at their 9-5's. People like me who work from home had to get by by leaving the oven and stove on! Elevators are constantly being ""worked on"" and had several instances where people were trapped in there for hours. There are water roaches EVERYWHERE if you don't request an exterminator to come visit every few months which leaves your apartment unbearably toxic and BLDG makes NO APOLOGIES for any of these issues.
It has been over 2 months since I've left their building and I am STILL trying to recover my security deposit from them. Management from the office are unresponsive and they obviously don't pick and choose qualifying people to hold their positions because the managing agent for my building miscalculated my account by $3000! When I addressed this issue, they refused to give me a break down of my account and I had to threaten them with court in order to get a proper receipt from them.
Please save yourselves from the torment and headaches from living in their building and DO NOT DEAL WITH BLDG. They are the absolute WORST management company and THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF at any and every cost.
I lived in a BLDG owned building for two years, and prior to moving into that building I also viewed two of thier other properties. I have since moved out and am so happy that I did. BLDG's staff - both at the buildings and in the corporate office - are incompetent and extremely rude. The concept of customer service does not exist for them. That said, I could live with rudeness and incompetency if the building I lived in was great. But their buildings are all terrible! They are old and outdated with extremely small apartments. Though they have updated many of their apartments to make them more marketable as they come up for new leases, do not be fooled by the appearance - the kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms are tiny, the apartments do not come with blinds (you have to install them on your own) and the ""gyms"" they have recently added are really just a bunch of equipment in an old ground floor apartment. BLDG's properties are not worth the rent they charge, and when you factor in the quality of their staff, you could not pay me to live in any of their buildings. Avoid them at all costs.
