YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

I have been residing in Soho since the 80's. I have made numerous attempts to support this establishment and finally decided that they do not deserve my money. The reason is because I find the staff to be extremely rude not just in person but over the phone as well. They are either underpaid & angry taking their frustrations on customers instead of quitting the job, or they are all self made millionaires that do not need customers & they have Metropolitan Lumber just for fun. I really wish that they would move out or sale to descent people who do care about the business. I recently had a major renovation on my loft & made sure that none of the material was purchased from Metropolitan Lumber.

The store is located in the middle of the street and was a little difficult to locate. Once inside, the selection seems extensive but I couldn't find anyone to help me. I waited for 20 minutes before someone actually offer to help.\r \r I don't think they will last long and unfortunately many of the employees has already mentally checked out.

These guys are unbelievable. Maybe some sort of fluke but I really can't believe they are in business. I'm waiting and waiting for the delivery to show up when I get a call from the delivery guy who doesn't seem to have a GPS nor even a map. He wants directions to the location, which I give and to which he replies he won't be there for ""a long time."" Not even an estimated time. When I express my frustration that the delivery was scheduled early for a reason, being that we needed the lumber to continue our project, he yelled for me to call the salesman and call and cancel the sh*t! I called the salesperson, who is nice and tells me the guy will be there in 20 min, which 2 hours later never happened. When I called to cancel the order a different salesperson began shouting at me, defending the completely inappropriate behavior of the delivery driver. Pretty poor customer service here, stay away.

I could have walked around for hours in this place\r \r Prince has an unbelievable selection of classic moldings and hardwoods dimensional lumber and plywood. Anything from construction grade to gorgeous Maple. Their knowledgeable staff are always willing to help you with whatever your needs may be. It something worth checking out even if you are not a wood nut. Oh, and if you need a piece customized they can cut anything to your precise dimensions (for a small fee).. From the serious woodworker to the weekend warrior, if Prince doesn't have it, chances are you won't find it.\r \r Also FYI - even if you dont see it there, ask they can special order a lot of stuff.\r \r

Fail! They failed to get me the order by the promised time and then gave me some serious attitude when I called to inquire. They kept telling me that the delivery would be there in the next 20 min and kept putting me off. For 5 hours this went on. I got tired of waiting around and losing time / money so I called I canceled the order. I found a smaller and less expensive lesser know lumber yard.

I was initially excited to hear about this place: it's within 10 blocks of my apt, and I just got into wood-carving, so I thought these people might be able to help me out. Unfortunately, the people at the check-out counter seemed more interested in telling each other about vacation plans than assisting customers; not a huge deal, though it's a bit odd for this to happen when the cashiers are well into their 40s. The guy who appeared "in charge" of the situation (mike?) didn't really care about my little carving project, so I simply asked for a 1x4 of some oak in hopes of just grabbing it and getting out of there. $14 for six feet of 1x4!! whatever, I just payed (justifying it to myself by focusing on their convenient location) and walked around the shop waiting for my board. about 15 minutes go by, and finally I go up and ask how long I should expect to wait for a single 1x4 to be cut to length..." 'bout half hour" - WHAT! why did he just let me walk around the damn store for 15 minutes waiting (after I had paid)? ok, whatever...I come back 40 minutes later and still no plank of wood. The jerk at the counter lets me wait about 5 more minutes before he yells downstairs: "Jose, six foot oak, 1x4" - so this guy just wanted to waste a bit of my time for kicks. I saw him act similarly towards other customers during my extensive stay within his store's walls, and I guess he feels that because he's the only lumber dealer on the upper west side he can act like a total #@$ - I try to support local businesses, but next time I'll just go to the home depot. check this place out if you want to be ripped off while simultaneously being personally insulted.

What's not to love about Home Depot, the ultimate in home improvement and one-stop-shopping? The stores are the size of airplane hangars; the employees are always helpful; and the prices are often very good. Some words of advice...this store can get incredibly crowded on weekends--it's a far safer bet to visit very late at night or early in the morning (it's open 24 hours). Also, when you drive in, head for the second floor of the parking deck, where there are far more spots available.
