Food Merchants Catering
I have been using Food Merchants (FoodMerchantsCatering.com) for ALL my catering needs in NYC for the past 4+ years. (approx. 6-8 events per year). As Tech Events Manager for a large university, I utilize Food Merchants for EVERY event I do because they are consistently reliable, the food is amazing, and their prices can't be beat. I have in fact taken to NOT using a venue if they don't let me use my own caterers. Once in 2015 and once in 2016 I held events at venues that required using their caterers and it simply reinforced my belief that Food Merchants in simply the best. They have done everything from $2,500 orders to $25,000 orders and everything in between. Once a month we host a hackathon at our university, Food Merchants provides our Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for these weekend events. Students are amazing to be getting Shrimp Orechiette and Crab Cake Sandwiches, Kale Crunch salad, Quinoa, and more. But their prices are so amazing, it actually costs LESS than the basic options from other caterers. The fruit on the breakfast trays is fresh, the roles are an assortment of grains, many healthy options including vegan and gluten free. Peter is my guy at Food Merchants, and I truly cannot say enough good things, I have NEVER been disappointed. As an event planner, the one thing I know that I never need to worry about is the food. Peter and his crew are amazing. We have also used them for conferences, networking events, and more.

Javier is a mad genius. That would be the whole review, but maybe I should elaborate. We went in on a Sunday thinking we'd just ask some questions, buy what was recommended, and plant everything ourselves. Instead, Javier happened to be working up front that day. After asking questions about what we liked and then making suggestions based on the season as well as our tastes. He then told us to just bring our flower boxes on one of the days he was working, and he would arrange a box for us. He was so knowledgeable that we decided to trust him, and that paid off.I showed up at 7:10 on a Thursday with my flower boxes, just as they were beginning to close. However, when I showed up, Javier remembered me and my tastes. Instead of dismissing me since he was in the process of closing up, he took my flower boxes and in an impressive five-minute act, proceeded to lay down the potting soil and pick out an arrangement of flowers and complementary plants that looked amazing. He also made some custom handles out of shopping bags so I could carry the flowers home. And while he was doing that, he managed to attend to a persistent customer who wanted details on the origins of the orchids in the store. And by the way, he answered all her questions. For his efficient and masterful work, I recommend the entire shop. Their selection is great and their employees helpful. A little expensive? Sure, but the quality more than makes up for it.

If you want to have SPECTACULAR outdoor plants on your deck at a very reasonable price, go immediately to NY Plant Shed on 96th and Broadway, and ask for JAVIER. Don't settle for anyone else. Lots of people work there with varying personality types from friendly to hostile, bright to dull; but Javier is not only a plant expert, he is an artist. You may think that you know what you want and how you want to design your pots or boxes, but just ask Javier for his ideas. This man has vision. I've had patio pots designed for me by top florists in three states over the years, but NO ONE did a better job than Javier at this neighborhood plant shop! While watching his work I discovered that the third floor of this place also turns out rather impressive floral designs, including roses, orchids, etc., for delivery all over NYC. The owner, Jay, didn't seem phased by how awed I was with the work they did for me today. I guess he hears gushing all the time.

Spent my weekend looking for plants in the Union Square Market and decided to stop by the Plant Shed to pick up new pots. They have a great array of plants, pots etc and the shop is very well kept. This was also when I met Javier and the positive recommendations on this site were spot on; not only was he super helpful (carrying all my pots and soil to a location I could easily pick up a cab), he was very keen to help me find solutions fora variety of questions. He took the time to locate the best pot for the type of plant I had purchased else where but was also candid with his advice on what would work or not (even if it meant spending less in the store). Definitely worth a visit for those new to gardening.

Royal Grill
The couple that owns this fantastic halal cart are the nicest people I have ever met in my life!!!!! The food is always fantastic with a wide range of dishes to choose from, that other carts in the city just do not have, this cart is the place to go when you are looking for the best halal food in the mid town Bryant park area I work a few blocks away and I find myself always walking the extra few blocks to eat from this cart passing over 15 on my way to see them. The prices are the most reasonable out of all the carts in the area. I suggest you give them the opportunity to make your lunch They are located on 44th and 6th ave right infront of the TD bank

I ordered flowers online in the morning to be delivered that evening for a friend that lived in Brooklyn. It was delivered on time (6 PM) when I chose for it to be delivered in the 5-9 PM time slot. I wasn't sure if the delivery would make it on time because the address was almost an hour away from Plant Shed but I was relieved that it did! My friend was thrilled when she received them. Additionally, I forgot to include the Floor # in the address when I had placed the order online. I emailed their customer service and they quickly confirmed the change and sent me a return email with the updated receipt.I'll definitely be coming back here in the future!

Jerome Florist
The flowers at Jerome Florist are amazing. The service is awesome and I am happy to have purchased my mothers' birthday flowers from here. The delivery was prompt and to me that matters most. Lastly, if I had to buy flowers from Jerome Florist again or just to have something in my own house I would. The only thing I would suggest to anyone looking to buy flowers from there, either go into the shop or call them. Their website does not have a huge presentation of the flowers they carry. But if you call them, they can let you know that they have more. Thank you for your service Peter.

Flowers By Special Arrangement
Beautiful OrchidsI consistently buy beautiful orchids at Flowers by Special Arrangement. I love that there is a wide variety of funky and beautiful containers that can change the entire look of the plant and compliments the color that I pick. They carry interesting breeds, as well as classic white, purple and more. The owners, Shula and Dov always plant them with care, tying them with rafia. I love to give my friend orchids as a gift and trust that when I call Shula or Dov to deliver, they will pick the most beautiful one and plant it in a designed manner.

Highly Recommend! My children bought me a beautiful succulent plant for Mothers Day. The ceramic bowl they were in and the plants are beautiful. As per the instructions I watered on the 10th day after receiving. I started to notice fruit flies all over the place. As it turns out I overwatered. However I did call Plant Shed to ask what to do and they immediately said No Problem we will replace for you. They sent a new magnificent replacement the very next day. They were a pleasure to work with. The quality of product is outstanding.Thank you

My husband recently came here and got the PRETTIEST cut flowers ever. I'm not a floral expert at all, but even to my untrained eye, I could immediately tell that these flowers looked healthier, fresher, and more vibrant than flowers from the corner bodega, whole foods, that kind of thing. It was to the point where I asked him if there was something "different" about the bouquet. I guess there really is a subtle but noticeable difference in aesthetics and quality, depending on where you buy cut flowers from. Very impressed.
Tips & Advices
Gutters can typically last 30 years or longer. With the right care and periodic re-caulking of the seams and corners, aluminum gutters can last indefinitely. However, when replacing a roof, opting for new gutters at the same time is usually a good idea.
Leaves, twigs, and other debris are the most common causes of clogged gutters. If these items are allowed to sit for an extended period of time, they could become moldy, which can clog your gutters further.
If gutters or seams are leaky or rusty, it's time for them to be replaced. Also, if there are signs of water damage or mold in the home, check the gutters to see if they are the culprit.
If gutters are clogged, rain water won't be directed away from the home. Water can build up near the roof or foundation, and eventually begin leaking into the home. This can cause mold, mildew, and extensive water damage. It can also make the home more inviting to termites and other pests. Over time, water dripping near a foundation or onto sidewalks can cause the cement or brick to break down. If there is a garden, bushes or other landscaping below the gutters, these can become damaged as well. If the gutters are clogged over the winter and are located in a cold climate, ice dams can form in the gutters. These are very heavy and can cause damage to the roof, the gutters and potentially the side of the home.
If a homeowner plans to clean his or her gutters twice a year, this task should be done at the beginning of spring and fall.
