D&S Auto Repair Inc
A Shear Disaster. Thousands of dollars lost after the car was not properly fixed while during a standard repair of the alternator. The car just came off the 60,000 mile warranty - All of everything was working, fluids all ok etc... I get a call from the owner of the shop [dave] that the car will not start. States that "we" do not know the problem. They request a Volvo tech to get involved. I am dumbfounded... I ask them politely to tow it over to Volvo. Volvo says that the engine seized. I come to learn that the D&S tech didn't manage the belt placement on this simple repair -- it turns into a $6,000 engine replacement. It turns out to be a horrendous nightmare @ D&S Auto. I have no choice but to repair the engine. The owner states he will participate with the repair cost --- then says...he has no money. I have the bear the entire cost and the shop gets away scot-free. I would strongly advise not to get involved doing business with D&S Auto.

I had a really bad experience for auto repair. He was unable to diagnostic the problem. He suggested to change something else which was not required and he charged more than double than other auto fixes. His attitude is just to make money. He kept trying to misguide me and asking me for other fixes which were not required.I think he don't have good experience and still wants more money. His attitude is just to survive for today and don't know the customer value or satisfaction.

The manager is fair and honest. He does not try to upsell unnecessary work on your car. I trust him more than the authorized dealer to perform the work as required.

I would like to give it "0" stars. Horrible experience. Just Horrible. You can walk or push your car with less aggravation. Just as close to highway robbery as possible. I called my auto club, they called them, gave them a PO, and they were to send a tow truck. The guy in the office calls to say we will come get you, where do you want to go? I say to my neighborhood garage. He offers to have it towed to his garage, and "have it ready by AM. I said no, I need it to be where, I basically "roll out of bed" and have it there. He offers to fix it right away and drive it 20 miles to me, I decline, and say I need it towed near me. He tells me "Gary" will come in 15 or 20 minutes, and gives me his number. flash forward 90 minutes later, still no truck. I call the main # AND ASK WHERE IS MY TOW? He NEVER dispatched the tow truck. He said something to the fact that he was already there, No, Never Came! I called "Gary" the driver. he said was never given the call, but could be there in 10-15 min, was just leaving LIJ, and was on the LIE. I called the auto club and said they never dispatched the tow truck, she said the man in the office accepted a PO, and had a contractual obligation to get me, it wasn't for them to negotiate with me where the car was or wasn't going. I had up to a 100 mile radius. I call the driver after another 15 minutes, he doesn't pick up. I call on my son's phone, doesn't pick up. I call the auto club they call the company and patch me through. I ask him where he is. he lies and says he is down the road, I know the road from beginning to end, and ask him, where exactly is he, doesn't know. I ask what do you see? houses, stores, Burger King, Td bank?. He vaguely says a park, I say "Oh, you are near this park, and you should be here in 20 blocks" I don't think that is the right park, he says, I say it is the ONLY park on this street. what else do you see?, then the call was "dropped". I start looking for him, in the direction of where he SHOULD be coming from, finally he speeds past me from the other direction, passes me 3 more times, and tells the dispatch he 'can't find me" Hello, I haven't moved in close to 2 hours, if he opened his eyes, and paid attention to where I said I was, I was exactly where I said I was, in the parking lot at the intersection. He calls dispatch and says he wont take me because I am irate. I have to promise the auto club I will not say anything else. he asks me where I want to take the car, and I say blank's garage, he says I can't go on the highway, thinking I would agree to let them take my car to their garage. Little did he know that I have a CDL, and know the law, I said you Can go on the Van Wyck, .Not a clue how to get where I wanted to go, even though he HAD a GPS. Thanks for making an upsetting night for my 2 kids even more upsetting. I plan on reporting them to the BBB, and the state. No one should have to go through such BS to get a tow, to bring their car to their own mechanic.

Dealing with Victor was great. I felt like he really wanted to help resolve my problems instead of trying to find what else is wrong with my car tha the can make money on. I originally thought he just did oil changes but after leaving I realized he's a full mechanic shop. He goes recommended in my book
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
